I purchased new dining room furniture from JCPenney and purchased their extended warranty which covers every kind of accidental damage immagineable. This includes nail polish, remover, blood, water marks, scratches, dents, gouges, heat marks, etc. I thought "wow" it is saffe to finally order a new table even though we have 4 kids! Well, we had a particularly bad weekend and on Friday, nail polish remover (being used without my knowledge:) was spilled on the table. Then, on Saturday at dinner one of my kids slid a serving platter across the table and it scratched it, and finally, on Sunday, my son dropped a lego model on the table and made a gouge. I reported the incidents all at the same time on Monday, and now because there is a clause stating that if there is an "accumulation of damage" the warranty is void, the table is not being covered! So apparently, if you have more than one thing happen to you table, the claim is denied. I have been going around and around with both JCPenney and Uniters and am getting no where, if a warranty sounds to good to be true, it probably is!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Completely agree. JCPenney is where I bought it from and they are under new management. They saw what happen and just replaced my furniture at complete value. I am never buying this warranty again because it is not a warranty at all.
When I filed a claim on my leather couch sectional which had been punctured, I had to fax them the claim information twice. Even though I had confirmation that the first fax had gone through, no one called back. When I called them, of course they had no record or the fax, so I had to resend it a month later. After sending it in on 1/12 of 2010, it took months for them to send out the material to replace the couch and still more months to send a tech out. I had to keep calling them of course to keep the process in motion. They didn't end up sending a tech out until 7/2010. He didn't put the material they had sent on, claiming it would break the couch. He instead soddered over the holes and did a crappy job. Also he told me someone would be calling to see if I was satisfied, but they never did. When I called the company to complain about the job, they told me that the tech had put Mr. ____ on the phone with them to verify their satisfaction with the repair. I informed them that that never happened and there was no Mr.____ here at the time of the repair, just me, a woman. There was 2 techs that came out that day. They never came back to fix the punctures. This company is incompetent in the claim customer service reps, the techs they sent out and their supervisors. I strongly suggest not to buy this warranty as they care nothing about actually fixing problems.
OMG, that is the exact same thing that happened to me for my couch and they didn't fix the first problem and said it wasn't their problem the tech closed the claim before finishing. Therefore, until I could prove that it was fixed they would not provide any service. Plus gave me the run around for 3 days.
