United Van Lines (Canada) I got moved by this company and they told me I got 3 months to claim any damages to my stuff

I got moved by this company and they told me I got 3 months to claim any damages to my stuff. But guess what? My things got messed up real bad, like beyond fixing, and some parts even went missing from other messed up things. So, I did what they said and filed a claim within that time frame 'cause there were so many things that got damaged and couldn't be used no more. But you know what? This company don't wanna own up to the damages they caused. They just don't care.

United Van Lines (Canada) In June , I got moved from AB to NB

In June , I got moved from AB to NB. I was all set to get my stuff after 9 days on the road, but the company kept my things for another 8 days 'cause they said they didn't have enough workers. They stored my stuff in the back of a metal truck during a heat wave, which dried out the seals on my dishwasher. I tried to get in touch with the company, but they ignored me. I kept bugging them for over a month, but they still denied my claim for the dishwasher. They said the report didn't blame the move, even though the technician told me it could be the move's fault. They wouldn't even show me the report to prove it. They said they didn't test it, but I had it all set up and ready to be tested. They just chose not to do it. They said it was 'cause I installed the dishwasher myself, but that's not relevant 'cause the issue was with the motor seal, not the hookup. Their carelessness wrecked my $1200 dishwasher and my brand new home, and they won't take any responsibility.

United Van Lines (Canada) I just had a government move (military) where the government paid United Van Lines to move me from Cold Lake AB to Dundurn SK

I just had a government move (military) where the government paid United Van Lines to move me from Cold Lake AB to Dundurn SK. The movers were supposed to check that all my electronics and appliances were working before and after the move so that any damages could be claimed. But, within 3 days of the move, my mini fridge still wasn't getting cold and the back of it was overheating. The fridge was working perfectly fine before the move, and it's not even an old appliance, so it's pretty clear that it got damaged during the move. United says that the movers didn't properly check the fridge, so they won't pay for the damage. It's definitely not working now, but because they didn't confirm its working condition, they're using that as an excuse to not reimburse me. They should be checking to protect their own money, not mine. It's not my job to watch over them during their inspections.

United Van Lines (Canada) I moved in July and submitted a claim in November

I moved in July and submitted a claim in November . My big appliances and furniture claims got fixed by February 2022. However, my electronics claim got denied because they said a tech didn't inspect them during packing, so no claim for me. I told them it's the company's job to inspect at the start, their responsibility. I even gave them the serial numbers and pictures of the items. I asked for updates on which company or technician I could take my electronics to for evaluation, to prove it was due to the move. But United Van Lines stopped answering. When I unpacked, the unpackers noted that my surround sound *** and other electronics were found in an unwrapped box with a copper weight on top. But the company still said it's not covered because it wasn't inspected at the start. They also responded to my claim for the first time with someone else's items listed in the spreadsheet. I told them it wasn't mine, so they changed the wording and sent me the same denial with the right items listed. The tech who came to fix my furniture and dryer took pictures and noted the damage, but I haven't received a check or replacement yet. I didn't cash the original check they offered and shredded it, so I didn't agree to their claim terms. Last email I got was on March 1, and I'm still waiting for a reply to my email.

United Van Lines (Canada) My grandma died out of the blue and none of her kids live in Ottawa

My grandma died out of the blue and none of her kids live in Ottawa. We had to move her stuff to Winnipeg, Calgary, and Whitehorse. The Winnipeg delivery had to be quick. We booked the move on June 16 and they said it would be delivered between June 30 and July 13 (but they totally missed that). The biggest problem is they lost or messed up a box of memories that was supposed to go to Whitehorse. We reported it on August 1 and they haven't given us any info about where the box went missing or what they've done to find it. All they say is "we're looking for it but haven't found anything yet." They wanted us to make a claim, so we did on September 8 (even though we don't really want money, we just want the box found and delivered). Since then, they keep giving us the same old story about looking for it, but when we ask for details about what they've found, they've got nothing. It's hard to believe they're even trying to find the box because they should at least know where it might have been lost. We also want them to check with their other deliveries to see if they gave it to someone else by mistake. The guy who drove everything from Ottawa to Calgary (stopping in Winnipeg) had his three little kids with him. We saw him unloading other people's stuff on the street and leaving it there with only the kids watching. The kids were even moving boxes around. Because of this carelessness, it's possible the box got lost when no one was watching or one of the kids took it into someone else's house. We booked the move with ***, so we complained to them too, hoping they'll help us find the box. Both companies have been terrible to deal with and it's made a tough time even worse.

United Van Lines (Canada) I put down $500 in June to book my move from Bowmanville, ON, to Montreal, QC, on July 16th

I put down $500 in June to book my move from Bowmanville, ON, to Montreal, QC, on July 16th. The remaining amount of $4142.39 was paid on July 30, when my stuff was delivered. Overall, I paid $4642.39. United Van Lines promised to take good care of my belongings, especially the sentimental and fragile ones. They were supposed to move my items to the storage unit I reserved in Montreal by July 22. They said they would support and guide me throughout the process to make it smooth.

But here's the problem: once I paid the deposit, they didn't show much respect or communicate well with me or my belongings. The Head Office took a long time to respond to my messages. The person who was supposed to be the Senior Customer Care Rep didn't act professionally or give me the attention I needed. They promised to send me a check on August 19th, but I still haven't received anything (it's now December 22).

I want the claim process to be handled by someone more senior or an executive who can promptly and consistently see it through in a professional manner. I also want confirmation whether there was an exemption report from the people who moved my items to the storage facility on July 30. I suggest that someone from the UVL head office contacts them instead of ***, as the delay in my move happened because of them.

Furthermore, I expect compensation for the damaged goods that belonged to my grandmother. I provided specific details in the claims form I submitted to United Van Lines in early August. Lastly, I want to know exactly what happened and why there was a delay in my move, considering I reserved it properly and well in advance in June. I also want an explanation for how my belongings were handled between Ontario and Quebec.

My order number is XXXX-XXXXX-XX, and I can provide images and emails upon request.

United Van Lines (Canada) I'm in the military and we get moved around a lot

I'm in the military and we get moved around a lot. United Van Lines got the contract to handle my move. They packed up my house on Aug 18th 2021, loaded it all on Aug 19th 2021, and delivered it on Aug 23rd 2021. I was moving from Shilo MB to Winnipeg MB, a total of 202 KM. During this 202 KM, they messed up a bunch of my family's stuff. I made a claim for the damaged items on Sep 5th 2021. I followed up about the claim on Sep 10th, 13th, 16th, 20th, and the 24th. Finally, on Sep 27th, they replied and said they're working on it. On Oct 5th, I got a check for only a small part of the damage. I called them and they said I'll get the rest once I send them receipts for the replaced items. I asked about the amount they gave me for a washer and dryer because the check only covered $413.29 for each. On Oct 6th, they said I claimed a washer and dryer set for $1200. I proved to them that wasn't true and showed them the claim was for a washer and dryer at $1180.85 each, including taxes and delivery. Later that day, they said I overclaimed the damaged washer and dryer and their "specialist" said they're not worth that much. I sent them the original receipt from when I bought my old washer and dryer that same day to prove I paid more than I claimed. On Oct 8th, they offered me a *** washer and dryer model number, saying their "specialist" thinks it's a fair replacement. The washer was $999 and the dryer was $949. Those models were on sale for $649 each at local appliance stores, but they're back-ordered for 10 plus weeks. They're only willing to cover $649 for each. That's less than what I paid for my original washer and dryer that they destroyed. So now I have to pay over $650 out of my own pocket to replace the items they ruined.
