Just came back from a truist branch at Ewing, NJ, bad taste is still in my mouth. Opened an account near end of June 23. Today, I was denied to access the account online "for security reasons". Called customer service on the phone, after long wait, was told the account is marked as fraud, and was disabled, and the customer(I) has to go to a branch. Drove for 30 minutes, and got to the branch. The intern teller was helpful and called the backed office on the phone, and was told nothing can be done, account was marked as fraud, and its up to the branch to decide if the balance can be withdrawn. What? No explaination for fraud to your customer in person, and denied the customer his money? The perky, young, white male manager was helping other clients, but was informed by the intern for the situation, and walked by the intern several times, and the manager obviously with an authoritative attitude indicated no desire to help. I kept asking the intern what is the fraud, and got no explaination and was told that "the back office decides that, nothing we can do". I said, I was told to come here, and I am here in person, show me the fraud, and I got silence treatment. The helpful intern made 2nd call with similar results, and 3rd call at about 2 hours from the time I arrived, and the back office finally indicated that it probable is a mistake, yet it can't be unblocked now. The drama dragged on for another 10 minutes. The intern said the account can remain open( actually at this time a so called Relation Banker lady joined the conversation), and can send an email to someone to unblock it, but can't provide a timeline at my request. The perky manager at that time maybe sent an message from has corner office to prompt the Relation Banker to tell me he authorized closing the account. He is really an [censored] the way he provided what he thinks as "customer service". Truist marked my account as fraud, offered no explaination in person, forced me to drive 30 minutes, refused to unblocked it, refused to allow me to withdraw the balance until the last minutes, offered no appology, and thinking allow me to close the account as a favor? [censored] you, truist, I hope you go down the drain.
