This is a terrible company! Here is the rundown:
In 2005 they were named united steel factory, inc. 2700 w. Cypress creek road d104 ft. Lauderdale fl 33309 fei # [protected]...
On october 7, 2005 they changed their name to united steel building inc. Same address as above,
Now they are in the process of changing again to super steel building, the website doesn't have an address.
These people are slimy and slippery, their names are: mike sparks, deena gastel, sue alder, and jack racklin.
They owe me a rollup door and insulation for my building... The cost is $3, 000 I already paid them and they do not return calls. I had a guy go to their address and they have a sketchy buzzer at the locked door, no receptionist like a legitimate company would have. He asked to speak to sue and they said you need to have an appointment, and they refused to talk to him any longer...
United Steel Buildings is part of United Steel Factory, Inc. the connection to Super Steel Buildings you base on what? You can view the investigative report about United Steel at www.v1-p.com/unitedsteel.html and there are links to the Florida Attorney General, The Florida Division of Business Licenses, the Florida Division of Business Regulation.
The individuals involved in what appears to be consumer fraud are: Howard Zimmerman, William and Theodore Knote. These 3 individuals are principles of the corporation. Feel free to email me your complaints, with evidence at thefloridascoop@gmail.com I am following up the news story. These three individuals, along with a Michael Lassner of Allied Steel Buildings, Inc. have formed about 15 corporations in Florida over the past few years.
Same thing just happened to us with Super Steel buildings. We have paid in a large amount and so far they just keep giving us the run-around - not making change orders, dragging their feet on blueprints, continuing to ask for further payments before they proceed, etc. We cannot get anywhere with these people and nobody seems to be willing to help. They are a very unethical company. I don't understand how they keep getting away with this bait and switch scam.
United Steel Buildings and Super Steel Buildings use an identical "Terms & Conditions" document. They are the same word-for-word and format. It appears one is a Xerox copy of the other.
Sounds like I am getting scammed as well. I just got my order and didn't get the two roll up doors or a few other parts and they haven't returned my calls or emails. I always thought they were shady from the get go but went with it because of the price. Is there a way to legally pursue these criminals?
That's the typical setup with these companies: Using Multiple names, Low-balling people with unrealistic numbers, then asking for more money by upselling them after the $$$ has been collected. At the same time, if consumers base their decisions on the lowest price without looking at the source, then it is their own fault and they shouldn't whine about it!
Also, regular complaints are OK as any business with decent volume will have that. In my own business, I have had several bogus complaints from clients to the BBB and in each of those cases, they were thrown out as it was the clients' own wrong-doing as it turned out. It took me six months to get it removed from the list although I proved my case beyond any doubt. So, that is all relative.
As for Allied, United, And Super Steel; they are all connected. Super Steel is under the name of the wife of United's president, who started with Allied and Zimmerman.
I would mainly look at what certifications the companies have, if there are any lawsuits filed against them, and why. All else is nonsense, and if you are just price shopping, then expect nothing more than these types of results.

I am one of those that paid the deposit and still to this day haven't recieved anything. Is their any way to get a refund or my building
I am another one that has paid the deposit on 11/09 and still haven't recieved anything. Is there anyway I can find out what is going on? Keep trying to call them and now there phone has been disconnected. Feel like I have been scammed! I work hard for my money and it makes me angery that people will do that to me.
We paid them $8138 starting in Oct 09 for a garage but still have not received it, their phone has been disconnected and they don't return email messages. The BBB what a joke as of 6/29/2010 they had them rated as A- but changed their status to NR just yestereday. I'm filing complaint with Miama/Dade Consumer Protection Agency and Attorney General's Office but holding out little hope that will get me anywhere. Looking at getting lawyer.
I have paid 4K 4 months ago thay phones are disconnected and no way to get in touch with no one I did file to a Attorney General's office put anyone has a better idea ?
Please tell me your results here. I paid them in April and my building is supposed to ship this month. Now I cannot get a hold of anyone and do not know what to do. Please help!
File a complaint with the Attorney Generals office in Florida if your one that was scammed by them. Complaint forms are on the Attorney Generals website.
It's not the victims "fault" for getting scammed as Jarrod mentioned earlier, as I checked the better business bureau, called and everything. I printed BBB report, called and spoke to them about requirements of their members, and then checked with State of Florida and my credit card company. My husband went for the marketing, and I was concerned but went forward after my research. Later research I did warned against ordering doors, or that some parts may be incorrect, but when I placed my order there was nothing online that I could find about total scam. BBB said they had 10 disputes in 36 months all settled to consumer satisfaction. So I am very upset, and also with myself, that they stole $4000 from me. Anyone searching DO NOT USE SUPER STEEL BUILDINGS! BBB website did have it rated A- business 6/29/10, I filed complaint and then it changed within 24 hours. I received blueprints, which stretched the time out, and NO product. Jalal Ketabi is stamped as registered professional engineer in my state on blue prints. I will file with the Attorney General in Florida, and I will report to my state as well but I'm sure I'll never get my money back or product. so heartbreaking! As I type, I am on hold with my credit card company but I'm sure it's too late for a charge back. "Marie Martin" even requested more money 4 weeks ago, no delivery. WARNING SCAM SCAM SCAM
My blueprint also show Jalal Ketati as being the registered professional engineer for the Commonwealth of Pa Engineer No. 072654. I also dealt with Marie, she kept insisting I will get my building. Seemed to be holding me off till end of June, as if they knew they were going to disappear. Please everyone who has been scammed file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General complaint forms on webite and with the Attorney General of your state! It very important to file with your state attorney general in the state your in, if theres more than one complaint with your state they can file a class action law suit.
I have been ripped off by Super Steel Buildings. I have been waiting for my building since Nov. 2009 nothing but promises. Maria Martin is the only one I kept being reffered to. I have paid them $7, 500 in deposits an now nothing. I also checked with the BBB before I sent them any money. They were listed as a A- buisness. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Flordia.
If your from another state other then Florida you need to file a complaint with your state attorney general also! Please keep us informed about any updates anyone on here has comcerning your complaints.
Contact me at [protected] if anyone wants to talk about our options other than Attorney Gen Office which is not going to do anything.
Well I did recived a letter from attorney General And i see all this complaits here in the Internet but no one had file anything against them, I am the only one that had this complain about Super Steel Buldings taking money SO IF U GUYS DIDNT FILE TO THE ATT. GENERAL IN FLORIDA PLSS DO THATS THE ONLY WAY MAYBE WE CAN GET SOMEWHERE
I just figured out I was scammed 2 days ago, and I already got cashiers check and sent "the crooks" the proof, so today I spent at the bank on this problem. They were closed Monday, and I am filing tomorrow with attorney general I promise!

I send my complaints forms into the Attorney General of Fl 7-2 so far have heard nothing from them I also filed with the Attorney General of PA. Filed with the Fl Dept of Ag and Consumer Services, received a letter from them that my case was being referred to the Miami Dade Consumer Protection Agency Div, 140 W Flagler St Ste 902, Miami Fl 33130. You can file a complaint with them online if you were scammed by Super Steel out of Miami. In their letter they suggested we could file a small claims action in county court.
I paid $4, 000+ in deposit money in January '10 expecting my building to be delivered in June or July. Tried calling and the phone # is disconnected and their website is down and e-mails wont go through.
We all have to submit a complaint with The Attorney General and Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation in FL.
If enough of us go after these people maybe we get get something done about it.
I just got off the phone with the Miami Dade Police Dept. The lady I talked to said I was the 3rd person to report against these people. She also said they are going to be putting a detective on the case. They have the owners address and stuff I think thanks to Reggie. Anyone else having problems with Super Steel Building Inc. should call (305) 4POLICE
Kevin H82,
thanks for the phone number to the Miami Dade Police Dept I will definitely be calling them, I hope others on here do to. Since your from PA also please file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office in PA maybe we can get some kind of class action law suit against them. I am also from PA and have already sent them a complaint with all my papers from Super Steel.
Just spoke to Miami Dade Police Dept they told me to call back tomorrow between 7-2 and talk to a detective with the Economics Crime Division [protected] will let everyone know the results after my call.
kevinH82,
Can you give me any additional information on your discussion with the Dade County police? My husband and I both tried to call them yesterday and today and they refuse to talk to us. We spoke to the special investigations unit and the economics crime division and neither of them will let us file a report. The economics crime division told me this is a civil case and we will have to contact the civil court to place a law suit. The number they gave us was for a recording and you couldn't talk to anyone. I checked everything on their web site and it looks like to you have to go to Florida to file the suit and you have to have the address of one of the principals. I reviewed the corporate documents and they changed the principal's address to the address for Super Steel. Jalal Ketabi (Cypress, Texas) was listed as secretary but conveniently resigned from that position in April after having just accepted the role in October.
The name Jalal Ketabi is sure turning up alot. His name and signature (if its not fake) is on my blueprints. Theres a stamp and seal that says professional engineer Commonwealth of Pa Jalal Ketabi engineer #072654.
Here's a link to their corporate info.
http://www.corporationwiki.com/Florida/Hallandale-Beach/super-steel-buildings-inc-5273774.aspx
It looks like Jalal Ketabi and Tracie Turner are involved with Super Steel, but Jalal Ketabi has other companies that he's the registered agent for in Texas.
Jalal Ketabi's name and signature is on our blueprints as well. His Maryland engineer number is 32364.
Spoke with a detective with the economic crime division he said since there are people from mulitple states that have been involved the Attorney Generals office needs to handle it, they can't step on their toes. I tried calling that number he gave me [protected] (State of Fl Legal office) but can't get through. (says not taking any calls at this time). I sent complaint form to the Attorney General of Fl. on 7-2 but haven't heard anything yet.
We too have a building supposedly ready to be constructed through Super Steel. We'd sent in the first deposit, plus some for "changes" that should have been known up front, but they weren't clear at all on that. I'd delayed sending the second deposit for fabrication because I was out of town. I'd just been trying to contact them to send it in. When my email wasn't returned, I called, only to get that the phone number was disconnected. Then I went looking for their website, not quite willing to believe that this all was either a scam or they went under. Then, I landed on this site. Now I'm totally depressed. I'm in Colorado, wanting a building in Texas. I also always spoke with Marie, though I did talk with an engineer and I started out with Wade and Scott. I too, checked the BBB rating and complaints before we jumped in on this. I will go through my bank as well. They might be able to help in some way.
We just got a letter from these people and a small check saying they would not be able to deliver our building which we have paid a substantial amount of money on...any ideas would be greatly appreciated, does anyone have an attorney maybe we can join together, we are from New Mexico...
Yesterday, I recieved my package back with the signed contract, local code changes to the drawings, design criteria, etc. The package said, "Return to Sender". I tried to call Marie and emailed her from her previous contact information. Phone disconnected and no return email. They defrauded me out of $1, 500.00 to date. After reading some of these emails, I feel lucky at this point, they didn't get the full amount out of me! This was for my daughters first horse barn, and this is such a dissappointment for the family. I looked this company up on the BBB as well before I jumped and it was an A rated company. Now...it's just hard to believe. I called the Police at Dade County from one of the numbers above. They told me to call back at the same number (305) 4POLICE, Monday and report the fraud. Jn2375 I will also try to hunt these [censor] down. The money is not the objective at this point. They need assets frozen, convicted and jailed! Maybe then they will grow a conscience...I doubt it though! DebraMitchell, I would be more than happy to file a joint suit against these types. I do know a few attorneys I will contact for some advice. Keep ya posted.
I tried to post this last night, but it didn't go through, apparently. I've sent an email to a cousin of mine who works in a law office in Miami. (Though she's not a lawyer.) I'm hoping she can point me in the right direction as to what to do. I'm wondering if they went bankrupt, especially given that they sent back a small amount of money to DebraMitchell. I did file a complaint with the Florida State Attorney General. They have an online site for that, but I have no idea if it will go anywhere or if I'll hear anything.
It appears there are many of us out there that have been criminalized by Super Steel Buildings and have some sort of efforts to get our elected officials to hold these folks accountable. I would suggest we all try to get on one thread to discuss this and coordinate our information and actions as best can be done on the world wide web. I am currently posting on but am switching to this thread. You might have to cut and paste with the link.
It would be nice if we can find one lawyer who can handle all our cases even though we're in different states. Last count there were people from 10 different states who have found this site or the other super steel board.
the persons who contact us by email are Allen, Wade (plant manager) Jamie (plant manager) and then Greg (Senior project manager) and Marie (Customer Service) Was told in April that Greg was on indefinite leave, the women receptionist was gone told she was out sick but when I called back a week later the same man was still answering the phones. The stamp on our blueprints was signed by Jalal Ketabi as being a commonwealth of Pa registered professional engineer #072654. Will check with the state Pa to see if this is a fake.
Our company supplied some metal materials and buildings to Super Steel Buildings. On the last delivery, they did not pay us for the material. Suzanne and William Knote of Super Steel would tell us that they needed another two weeks before they could pay for the material. Then about two weeks ago, Suzanne told us that they were sorry but we were not getting our payment and that the company had fired everyone. In late May 2010 we expressed our concern to the BBB and were advised that this was a collection issue. After reviewing this web site, we have filed a complaint with the attorney general. The total value of the material we were scammed for total $8618. I would like nothing more than to see these criminals behind bars and my heart goes out to all of you who were misled along with us.
Pablo Mila,
sorry to hear about your loss, maybe you can supply the poster FissionMeister with more information on Super Steel he is working with his lawyer. The names Susanne and William Knote are new to me I never dealt with either one of them. I would imagine all the companies that were suppling Super Steel with material are also pissed. Do you have an address where you were delivering the metal material? Where was the factory at? The address of 1031 Ives dairy Rd Suite 228 Miami Fl was only an office space that was rented in a building. I never knew where the factory was.
Thanks Pablo, helpful information that will help in getting these criminals in front of a judge.
