Subject: Complaint Regarding Unpleasant Blood Extraction Experience - Mr. Joshua De Leon (Pathology Department)
Dear St. Luke’s Management Team,
Good day. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an unpleasant experience I had during a blood extraction procedure at your Pathology Department in St. Luke’s Medical Center, Quezon City, conducted by Mr. Joshua De Leon. The incident occurred on October 29, 2025, at around 9:00 AM at the Pathology Department, Cathedral Heights Building, St. Luke’s Medical Center - Quezon City.
I chose St. Luke’s because of its well-known reputation for quality healthcare and patient care, but unfortunately, my recent experience did not meet those expectations.
During the procedure, I observed the following issues:
1. Lack of courtesy and calm communication - Mr. De Leon did not speak politely or in a calm manner throughout the procedure, which made the experience stressful and uncomfortable.
2. Rough handling during extraction - The entire process was unusually painful, and it felt as though he was not careful or gentle. His hand movements were heavy, and I experienced significant discomfort while he was drawing my blood.
3. Multiple tubes collected - Four tubes of blood were extracted, which made the lack of care even more concerning. Given the number of tubes, I expected the procedure to be done with extra caution and professionalism.
4. Unprofessional demeanor - His overall attitude came across as impolite and inattentive to patient comfort.
5. Questionable behavior - I also noticed that Mr. De Leon mispronounced my last name repeatedly, even when it was clearly printed on the laboratory form. It appeared intentional and felt mocking or irritating, which I found unprofessional and disrespectful.
As a patient, I believe that even simple procedures like blood extraction deserve sensitivity, professionalism, and care especially in an institution like St. Luke’s, which upholds excellence in healthcare service.
I respectfully request the following actions:
1. That an internal review or investigation be conducted regarding the conduct and handling of Mr. Joshua De Leon during patient procedures.
2. That appropriate guidance, retraining, or disciplinary action be taken to ensure adherence to professional standards and patient care protocols.
3. That I be informed of the measures your office will take to address this incident and prevent recurrence.
I hope that this matter will be handled with fairness and urgency. Please feel free to contact me through the email or phone number provided above should you require any further details about the incident.
Thank you for your attention and understanding.
Sincerely,
Mark Cristopher Siblag
