I hired Southern Elite Contracting for an insurance restoration project on my home involving two claims. I began the process hopeful and appreciative, but over time the experience became very difficult. Throughout the project, three different crews were assigned to my home, two of which I was told were removed, and the work still remains incomplete. Multiple areas were started but left unfinished, including paint that the crews were unable to complete to its pre-loss condition.

This is not only my assessment. A representative from Southern Elite conducted a walkthrough that documented a significant list of items still incomplete or needing correction. My request throughout has been simple and consistent: to have the work completed and my home restored to its pre-loss condition, with payment following completion as my contract provides. I have paid my deductible and the funds released to date, and I have not asked to cancel my contract.

I have also found that communication has been a challenge, as the account manager has relied on others rather than visiting the property directly, which I believe has contributed to inaccurate information about the current status of the work. My concern is that the focus shifted to payment rather than completing the work, and my repeated requests for a simple itemized accounting of the funds received and how they were applied have not been answered.

I have been professional, patient, and cooperative throughout, and I still hope for a positive resolution. Based on my experience, I would encourage other homeowners to have all scope of work, funding, and terms clearly documented in writing before making payments, and to keep records of all communications. I remain willing to update this review if Southern Elite works with me in good faith to complete the remaining work.

Recommendation: Based on my experience, I would encourage other homeowners to have all scope of work, funding, and terms clearly documented in writing before making payments, and to keep records of all communications.
