Simply purrfect cat litter
I went to Costco on 10/04/2023 specifically to by my normal brand of cat litter. Unfortunately they were out, but they did have one called Simply Purrfect cat litter. Being desperate I decided to try this new litter. Big mistake! The next day I threw out my used litter, and washed everything out replacing it with Simply Purrfect litter. A few days later I noticed my indoor cat would occasionally purr but with his mouth open. Thinking he had just been overly stimulated I didn’t think too much about it. On 10/12/2023 I noticed a huge change in his demeanor. He was lethargic, doing a lot of “loafing” in places he’s never laid down on in the house. I also noticed rapid mouth breathing. I immediately called the vet and they were able to get him in right away. After an examination my vet wanted to sedate my cat so they could do X-rays to determine what was causing this. The doctor also gave him an injection of steroids thinking this would help with his lungs until a diagnosis could be read by a radiologist. After a couple of hours I was able to bring him home. He went straight to our room and laid on our bed sitting in an upright position for almost 5-hours struggling to breath with his mouth open. The report came back the same day and the vet called to tell me that he was diagnosed with cat asthma. The vet said his injection of steroids would last until the next day but to come pick up a prescription of steroids. The dosage is 1 tablet twice a day for a month. This veterinary visit cost me almost $1000.00. My cat has never, ever had issues with breathing until I bought this new litter. I know it was this litter that caused this asthmatic episode. It would be nice if this company would do the right thing and reimburse me for my veterinary visit. I have my Costco receipt, the UPC code of the litter, all of my veterinary receipts, and the radiologists report, and the receipt for his prescription. It’s not a coincidence that this “just happened “. It was this litter.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement for my veterinary expenses. I’d appreciate a response. I have copies of everything if needed.
Simply Purrfect Scoopable cat litter
I have used this litter for a long time and liked it. During Covid I noticed that there were lots of little stones included in the litter. For some reason I thought this would be rectified in time. We overlooked alot of things during Covid.
I then changed litter trying to find a lighter kind, but decided to try Simply Purrfect again as I had always liked it. Never noticed a problem with odor but as I have 3 cats, I always add baking soda to the litter boxes. This time when I brought the new container home, I found that not only are the stones still there but they have multiplied - and grown. Now there are ROCKS included. I am assuming these stones and rocks help to make the 35 pounds supposedly in the container. I am very unhappy with this new development and I will no longer buy this litter. Why should I pay for stones and rocks - they do not absorb cat urine! I have included a picture - see the dime I included for size verification.
Desired outcome: Rather than a refund I would prefer that you start removing the stones and rocks so that it becomes the kind of litter it used to be. I would also appreciate a response. My email address is [protected]@yahoo.com
Simply Purrfect
I lave used your cat litter for as long as it's been in Costco. Loved it. We now noticed it doesn't clump very well, the last 4 containers when opened has small clumps, like it has been exposed to moisture before being packaged. It doesn't cover the cat urine smell. I will be sending a complaint to Costco also. You have cut out everything that was good .
Desired outcome: A better product or refund.

Simply Purrfect Cat Litter
I purchased the Simply Purrfect Natural Scoopable cat litter at Costco. I purchased because it said "natural".
My cat lost a lot of hair (bald in many spots) and constantly scratching. Took to the vet and they said the cat probably allergic to grass, since she goes in back yard daily. This didn't make sense because cat had been going outside for a few years at this point and never had a problem.
Kept wondering what changed recently to cause cat to have allergies. And finally occurred that the only thing that changed was the Simply Purrfect cat litter. So we stopped using the cat litter, and replaced with the original (different brand), and almost instantly within a week she wasn't scratching as much and after a month or so her hair starting growing back and now its fully back and healthy.
I felt so bad for my cat and never thought litter could be the issue. I believe it is the lemon grass in the litter that she is allergic to.
Desired outcome: Test cats on "natural ingredients" like lemon grass.
My three inside cats also have lost a ton of hair they were beautiful coated Russian blue and main coon mix. Had beautiful mains and nice shine body fur. I couldn’t understand what was happening to the cats! I to took them to the vets and he said the same thing. But difference was my cats never go outside ever! they hate it! And I noticed the cat littler wasn’t the same stunk chemically more so then ever before! Go to scoop the box and the clump would disintegrated to wet sand pee! And made the box stink worse now have ammonia smell with that chemical smell! Makes sense what you say about the cats hair coming out in clumps and basically falling out and not growing back as fast as usual! I been buying that cat littler for years before they changed the recipe of the littler! I won’t be buying any of this again! Now my cats have a long recover of expelling what ever chemicals were in that litter to make them loose all their beautiful fur like that! My cat better get better or I am going to Pursue legal matters, I have every receipt before and after they change the littler on my statements!
Cat liter
I recently bought the simply purrfect cat liter from Costco, due to them out of stock of my go to scoop away. Simply purrfect, does nothing on what it states. It's be far the worst liter yet. Does not clump, it smells horrible. I clean my boxes 2 times a day, and the cat smell is horrible. I used the liter for 3 days before I just couldn't handle the smell anymore. I have covered liter boxes, the plastic absorbed the nasty smell. I had to buy new boxes, to let the old ones soak in vinegar. Figures crossed it gets the smell out. Just wanted to warn people this product is not worth the money. You will end up spending more in the long run when you have to replace everything.
Simply Purrfect cat litter
I have to agree with all of the other people complaining about the change in Simply Purrfect cat litter. I was buying it for about a year from Costco in Burnaby, BC. In the fall of 2021, I noticed a change. The litter doesn't clump anymore, so cat urine makes it to the bottom of the box and results in odours and a mess. Not only have I now switched to a brand that clumps beautifully, I've also switched all of my shopping from Costco. That cat litter was one of the anchor reasons I went to Costco to do all of my shopping.
Desired outcome: Admit that the formula was changed; to change it back, and make an announcement that you’ve changed it back.
Cat litter
This product does NOT clump, cat urine looks like wet sand so stinks really bad. I bought at Costco as they were out of my normal brand but will NEVER buy again. My complaint is the same as all the rest, product should be pulled from the market or a class action suit about it's "strong, tight clumps" claim on the front of the container. I tried to file complaint on company website but their link to sign in with facebook doesn't work and I my submittal was rejected because of no country entered but dropdown box didn't work for me and cannot enter manually. Maybe that is their way of eliminating complaints, I don't know.
Rice cooker
i got a rice cooker model B801T- 50FS7C and when i was trying to use it it said E-4 and i tried to clear it but it will not do anything . can you direct who can i go to to find out what this means, what can i do to fix this. THANKS . Ralf Petrucelli [protected]@yahoo.com
Simply purrfect
I have been purchasing this product from Costco for years, but the quality has really gone down. Way too much dust and the clumps fall apart before I can get them scooped. This results in entire litter box eventually having such a strong urine smell I must empty entire litter box and start with fresh litter. Adding more fresh litter doesn't work to help with contamination. This product was never like this in the past. What gives?
I have tried to contact you but the email is rejected.
I have the same problem, no clumping at all, just looks like wet sand! Costco was out of Scoop Away, which NEVER fails to clump, and that is why I even tried this brand. i i also contacted the company directly but could not attach picture.
Cat litter
your green container litter was great. But, the new White container litter is not as good and our cats don't like it (two separate boxes using different in each and the cats immediately snubbed the new white box litter in their normal location and went for the green box litter. I switched locations and both cats followed the green box litter.) Unfortunately, we liked the packaging and convenience of Costco shopping but now we will be buying another cat litter from a different manufacturer. You should not have changed. The new litter is coarser and darker and it is easy to tell the different. "Don't fix something that ain't broke"

Simply perfect cat litter
Good day, I am writing you the short letter to advise you that the simply perfect clumping cat litter does not clump in the slightest. Any yarn that our cat deposits just spreads out to a fine mess. This has been going on for months and months and months. Thus I am very very disappointed in the product. It used to be a great cat litter and now with the new formula it is absolutely terrible! During the pandemic we would purchase our cat litter from Costco, and we purchased 2 to 3 at a time. I've already thrown at least four or five boxes into the disposable waste.Sincerely Jerrold Gilbertson Winnipeg Manitoba Canada

Cat litter
Have been buying Simply Purrfect cat litter from Costco for several years and it was an excellent product. It scooped great and contained the smell. In the last year the product has changed and it no longer clumps like it used to. I am very disappointed. The change has made me change to a different cat litter brand. Will buy Simply Purrfect if restored to original formula.
Desired outcome: Go back to the original formula.

Simply purrfect cat litter
The high level of dust in this cat litter is the WORST I have ever seen in a cat litter. I will not use it again because of the dust that is entering my cats' lungs. I have to wear an N95 mask so that I don't breathe in the dust.
I wouldn't be surprised if your company is sued in a wrongful death suit of someone's cat(s)
PLEASE REMOVE THIS FROM THE MARKET IMMEDIATELY!
It is awful...and don't even get me started on the lack of clumping. My main concern is the DUST!
Desired outcome: Remove from market/improve formula

1000% agree!
Litter
I just want to let you know I am very disappointed with the way the litter has been. I can't say exactly how long but it has been months. My cats seem to have allergies and sneezing when they have never been like that. Random yes but steady no. The smell is horrible more than any litter I have purchased in the past. Clumping is not like it used to be at all and the dust is just the same [censored] litter from the dollar store. I have been buying what I thought was the good stuff for months only to find out I was tricked into buying another product. Really disappointed and won't be coming back. Maybe you can try to fix this idk... Thanks for reading this if anyone even will. I'm in rancho Cucamonga, CA. Should that matter.

Kitty litter
Your new formula is no longer cohesive enough to be functional. Attempting to scoop out the clumps does nothing more than redistribute the feline waste contaminating the rest of the unused product.
Waste of time, waste of money and unhealthy for the animals. "scoop away" will end up being cheaper in the long run.
Thanks for ignoring any productive r&d.
Never again! Cya!

I have to agree. It no longer stays clumped and falls apart. Doesn't take long for urine smell to get so strong I have to throw entire litter box full out and start with fresh. Never used to be that bad what gives?

cat litter
I've bought this Simply purrfect scoopable cat litter for some years now, but the last batch I bought in Costco Calgary was completely hopeless!
I could forget all about scooping up anything.
As soon I tried to scoop up the clumps they were just falling apart, so soon the litter became smelly and I had to throw it all out.
Have you change anything in your production lately?
I've just opened a new batch and I sure hope this will be better.
Kind regards

You had a great product latest purchase from Costco a total failure won’t clump at. I’m switching brands.
November 24, 2021
I recently complained to the Canadian office of the company that makes Simply Perfect litter. The product is mined in Wyoming, USA. The newer white jug contents (by comparison to the older green jugs) don't clump. No problem the rep sez, "I'll send you a refund check for the three jugs whose contents are defective". That's a lie; no refund.
But I have a solution: Put some (maybe 5 to 10 lbs) of the nasty stuff from your litter boxes back into each white jug, and take it back to Costco. They have a full record of all of your purchases, so there is no verification problem. You bought a defective product from Costco, and now you're returning the defective product. And now you can clean your litter box(es) and put something different in it/them. Most litter boxes clean well by putting them in an elongated toilet bowl, and using the bowl scrub brush.
Now Costco is carrying a different product in a box, with 4 ten lb sacks inside. We'll see if this is a good litter product or more of the same junk, as in the white 35 lb bottles.
I read with dismay the feedback provided by once satisfied users of Simply Purrfect cat litter, and the lack of anything but a standardized complaint resolution reply by the manufacturer.
Our experience matches those listed -- what was once an efficacious product has undergone a change in formulation and is no longer 'as advertized': it fails to clump or provide odour control, and in my opinion is dangerously dusty to animals and humans -- especially given the respiratory risks of the current pandemic.
It's of interest that there is no specific information available regarding the sources of the ingredients Simply Purrfect lists. I too noticed the difference in colour (thanks to Laginvula [1 Oct 2020] for the visual confirmation) between the two formulations, and it's likely the product's decline is in direct proportion to the inferior quality of ingredients -- presumably the clay.
Regardless of whether this is motivated by profit margin increase or dimished availabilty of original ingredients, the end result is that Simply Purrfect...well...isn't. Since we can't know what's in those pervasive dust clouds, please consider the inherent risks to your lung health, and to those of your loved ones.

I bought 5 x14kg pails at Giant Tiger ...worst product I have ever used...Clumps disintegrate a soon as you try to scoop...GT used to have Simplicity in a similar pail and I was very satisfied with that qyality versus value...Stay away from the Purrfect
We have been using Simply Purrfect litter for years and it was doing good. Now they have changed something and it's horrible. We got a 2nd cat that is a pooping machine. We have 3 cat boxes and there is absolutely NO.NONE odor control with this brand. The house smells horrible now. I have to try to find something new that our older picky cat will use. I can't handle the smell any longer. I don't like to complain but the old formula was working and now it's not. YIKES... Change it back.

TY for posting review. I was going to give it a try. I'll pass .
I've been using Costco's purrfect litter for years. The product has been changed to a new formula that doesn't clump and stinks of an obnoxious perfume odour. I returned 2 boxes yesterday. I've now ordered from Amazon it's more expensive but they deliver monthly.
I agree with all the comments above especially the lack of clumping, dust and used to be good. I wrote to Simply Perfect but we should be directing our attention to Costco to apply pressure as it seems that is the only retail outlet.
We have been using this litter for a long time but have become very disappointed with it recently. It is horribly dusty, couldn't figure out why the cat was not wanting to use it until I realized how dusty it is. It does not clump very well, the clumps fall apart. Also does not cover scents very well. Not sure what changed in the formulation but it is extremely poor. Will not be buying this litter again.
I just wanted to thank you for your review... I was going to try this but I will refrain from doing so now.. Perhaps down the road I will consider it once again.
Awful doesn't begin to describe this cat litter formulation. Once I finish this box of litter, I will not buy Simply Purrfect because I LOVE MY CATS and do not want them to die from respiratory complications. The dust level of this litter is the worst I have EVER used...ever! Not only do I have to wear an N95 mask so that I don't get fine dust in my lungs, but I am very concerned as to what it is doing to my 3 cats.
Costco, take this off the market before you get sued for wrongful death of their cat(s) due to dust inhalation.
PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMULA! It was heavier but it had much less dust.
The cat litter is so dusty and turns into cement🤦 it broke my scoop trying to scrape it off the litter box. The cat litter gets everywhere. It's disgusting

HERE'S ANOTHER REASON TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM SIMPLY PURRFECT LITTER. Not sure what's in this litter, but the slightest bit of water turns the litter into a gluey mess. So if your cat inadvertently steps in his water dish and a while later goes into the litter box, he will have a gluey mess all over his foot and you have to shower them. Even cleaning out the litter box it stuck to the bottom of the box and as soon as I tried to spray it out with the hose I have the same gluey mess. I tried to clean off the scoop in my sink and now i'm afraid I will have to call a rooter to clean out the same gluey mess. I'm afraid that if we hadn't caught my cat stepping out of the litter box, that they would try to lick it off and end up with a gluey mess in their intestines and I would end up with a $1000 vet bill. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
