I accepted a quote for delivery of two wardrobes. Shiply took a payment, which covers their fee and the deposit for the courier. The courier, Dave Whittell, failed to make the delivery within 3 weeks of the quote acceptance. Excuses were made and it became clear that he had no intention of carrying out the job. Shiply told me I could cancel and transfer the payment to another of their couriers who had provided me with a quote but neither of the others had particularly good feedback. I asked for a refund. All they will provide is a credit to my account, which must be used within six months. As I am highly unlikely to need to use their services within that time, it's no good to me at all.
SHIPLY do not appear to screen their service providers carefully enough and do little more than provide a web portal for the 'commission' that they take. BE VERY CAREFUL before booking with them.

Suggest no one uses Shiply - at least until they sort out their fake positive feedback replies. How can this be legal? I had apparently left positive feedback for a transport company that has not completed delivery I had paid for. I am still waiting - it's been 8 weeks. I chose a company based on what appeared to the positive feedback they received from other customers and a 95% percent positive rating looked reasonable to me. However, after looking for some advice from Shiply I discovered that I had apparently left positive feedback for the delivery. I questioned a shiply representative about this and was told that this was Shiply's Default Feedback.

Discounting all the ratings that looked similar to the fake one Shiply had added under my name, the positive rating of the company would have been nearer 45%. - I would not have used them!

Any rating that has feedback like:
Item customer(0) "Positive feedback received, but no comments left" Date
along side a big Green Thumbs-Up icon is likely to be a fake reply generated by Shiply's default mechanism. To mislead even further the fake entry also uses the customers name and item description as part of the feedback - this distorts the feedback calculation and misleads customers into thinking they are dealing with a good company.

I used Shiply to provide a courier to make two pick ups of sofas purchased on eBay. deposit paid to Shiply and balance to courier. first mistake. naturally the pick ups were not carried out although I constant emails from the Courier telling me it would happen. The pick ups were rearranged and as late as 10 PM on the night before the courier promised it would happen.Again no pick ups were made and I had seriously inconvenienced the 2 sellers. judging by the feedback on the Shiply site re the courier Rosyth Transport AKA Scunnybunny there has been a wholesale scam with other customers being defrauded in this way.Naturally Shiply want nothing whatever to do with this matter. I have reported to Action Fraud and was about to take Small Claims Court action but the address Shiply gave me for the courier turns out to be fake. they have not undertaken any proper verification of this Courier and have allowed an apparent scammer access to applicants to their site. this person has taken monies upfront from clients of Shiply. Apart from warning anyone considering using Shiply to be extremely vigilant and to get details of any insurances held by a Courier before entrusting any work I would never use this service again and I will be taking further action against Shiply as the evidence I have shows an absence of any vetting process and a blasé acceptance that a fraud has occurred in which they are involved but in which they offer no redress whatsoever to trusting clients. You have been warned !

Went through Shiply to arrange the transport of a car from Glasgow to Coventry. Accepted a quote and paid £53 deposit to Shiply. The transporter failed on 2 occasions to appear and now won't answer his phone (baggies14). Tried to contact Shiply to have the deposit transferred to another transporter and cannot get them to talk to me. The phone number is automated and advises you to e-mail. I have e-mailed twice and am still waiting for a reply. Total scam.

Totally. Agree. These are Scammers who appear to be legally opeaitng and even have Paypal facility. They changred my Paypal account £23.00 for just visiting the site. Avoind using this site. Now, Shiply says they didn't and Paypal says it was not an unauthorised payment. So, I am out of pocket for just posting an ad on this scammers website. Stay away. Go to, Anyvan.co.uk

It seems I have just been taken in too - although I have used Shiply in the past with no problem.
I bought 2 chairs on eBay - and they were picked up - I was told they would be delivered on Friday - or definitely over the weekend - so stayed in. Now I am and not getting email or phone calls returned - and Shiply are taking no responsibility - plus I gather paypal will not refund as it is services not goods - I have lost £60...

This company is shocking! No phone support - a number that only goes to an automated line that advises you to email! I'm sure there may be some decent couriers on there, but there are also many many poor ones, with no professionalism at all. This is a site for a 'Man with a van' what you get is a complete luck of the draw, however in my case I have had 50:50 (Total 4 deliveries - 2 Okay 2 Terrible) One in particular was very bad, dragged on for weeks, included many an insult and threat from the driver, finally resulted in me threatening court action. I lost £300 on that particular delivery! Shiply don't want anything to do with problems, they are an independant third party by-stander, unless they are collecting their fee's of course...
My advice would be simply to avoid them, whilst I like the concept the truth is you simply can't trust the drivers on there at the moment as they are not monitored securely enough. There is no proof any of them have any form of insurance and judging by the conduct of many of them and the state of their vans and attitude I find it almost certainly likely they simply don't. Even those that start with good intentions may let you down when they damage or lose that £5000 item of yours and then just can't fix the issue. You need to have a trust with someone that you are reliant on and unfortunately this isn't possible with this company.

I totally agree with the comments above. We were moving and although I was sceptical my wife decided to use shiply's website. We got a lot of offers. Of course we accepted the cheapest offer. After accepting the offer which means we had paid the deposit the company increased the offer for 500 GBP. Allegedly the secretary of the company should have made a mistake. We complained at shiply's and the money was refunded (?) with the advice to renew the shipment. There was no advice that we had to request the refund of the deposit within a defined period because after that the deposit will not be refunded. All following offers weren't acceptable for us therefore we decided to email the removal companies around which made more sense and we found a very good removal company with a fair price, good service and very nice staff. Unfortunately we don't get the deposit back. That means there was no accomplishment but a payment. I call this the behaviour of a highwayman.

I have ( stupidly) paid Shiply's deposit for a courier to deliver a sofa to me.
Shiply unavailable on phone.
Automated reply to emails.
Courier does not answer phone.
Courier does not answer emails.

Looks like I have lost cost of sofa and Shiply deposit. Absolute scam company.

I completely agree with the negative comments posted about Shiply. After almost 2 months of trying to get the delivery I had paid for arranged I decided to cancel the arrangement altogether. Although nothing was my fault Shiply have refused to refund me the £17 deposit I paid to them. I have found their customer service department to be rude and unhelpful. I will never use Shiply again and strongly advise against anyone else using them. A thoroughly disappointing service.

Shiply & Anyvan are Dangerous! They have no way to verify any of the freelance drivers that sign up, and they have no interest in covering your items with any form of insurance. I do not understand why drivers are not asked to leave a bond with Shiply or Anyvan
to cover any disputes. My problem was also with the courier called DAVID WHITELL. I can't even begin to tell you what went on the and pure lies that left this guys mouth. Shiply did eventually shut his account down, but he just bragged to me how he would be trading under a new account within days!If shiply had any trust in it's drivers or any concern about it's paying customers then they should be offering some form of insurance cover. In today's day and age I am surprised they are able to even trade on the basis thattheyhave no liability when things go wrong!

I booked a courier through Shiply to deliver packages from Devon to London on a certain day last week. After I accepted the quote the courier wouldn't even discuss details until I had paid him all monies up front, but delivery was urgent and imminent so I agreed. When I hadn't heard from him re collection the eve before delivery day I called his mobile. Turns out he was still in Scotland and wasn't able to do the job. By then it was too late to book anyone else so I used CityLink. Surprisingly, within 24 hours, the courier had repaid the full fee. However when I then registered the failed delivery with Shiply I was informed that, whatever happens, they never refund their deposit, which in this case was £24.00. Since they take the fee for 'Shiply Shipment' you would imagine a shipment has to take place in order to keep deposit. Note cancellation info is well down list in T&C's.
However I think this next bit is more worrying. I then found they have a system which made it impossible for me to leave neutral or negative feedback for the courier. They sent an email telling me to leave feedback, but saying if you don't do it within 24 hours they will leave 'generic positive' feedback themselves. So I went to leave neutral feedback - well he had refunded money. However it didn't allow anything but positive feedback until further time had elapsed. I allowed the time to elapse and went back to leave my neutral feedback ... to my surprise I couldn't leave feedback as Shiply had done it for me. It said

"Very helpful indeed. Good communication. Recommended.". Completely false feedback made under my name next to my delivery.

I checked their feedback reminder email and noticed it gave an option to cancel their generic positive feedback:

"We realise that your delivery might not have been carried out yet, if so you can cancel the automatic feedback by clicking here".

But guess what ... when you click on cancel button it goes to Shiply website and says:

"Cancellation is unsuccessful. It has been more than 24 hours since the feedback reminder was sent to you so automatic feedback has been left for this shipment"

Shiply are an extremely disreputable company and I don't believe you should place any confidence at all in the feedback for the couriers - which is all you have to go on. I will never ever use or recommend them and wherever there is a forum I will post on it. I cannot believe that retaining deposits and creating false feedback can be legal. AVOID SHIPLY AT ALL COSTS.
