Seattle Coffee Direct advertises get 2 bags coffee and free Cusine Coffee Grinder for "only" $9.00. When I signed up it changed to a page of 2 free mugs and 2 free travel mugs along with coffee for only $9.00. Then my banking account gets zapped with a $34 charge. I called the company at [protected] and spoke with Kim and she stated to me that there is a $25 shipping and handling fee in addition to the $9.00 and that it states so in the website...no it does not and I told her that I would never had ordered the product with fees like that. So I went to a web page and searched and found a "hidden" link under "help" that tells about the additional fees.

I am going to look to see if there is a Better Business Bureau in their area. Also after the sign up and they take your credit card number, i.e. Visa Debit...I believe this company should give you a total of your charges as a receipt, not just a thank you.

Kim did however tell me that I could mark the package refused and they would refund the money to me once they received the package back...the mugs were not free at this rate and neither is the coffee grinder!

My suggestion to consumers who find themselves in this predictiment to call the fraud department of your bank and report them. Also every state has an Attorney General who handles consumer complaints, don't think that it will not count...you could be the apple that upsets the cart with the other complaints and there for starts the lawsuit!

Since when did 2 bags of coffee and a grinder/ two mugs cost $ 9.00? There has to be a catch and seattle coffee knows that there are millions of people like you how like free stuff. There fore its easy for them to ### you. Buyer be aware. Do something contact a lawyer if you think its fraud. only in American are people willing to trust anyone on the net.

This company is unbelievable! How can they operate this way?
This can't be legal. It's a total rip-off and scam. Class action lawsuit, anyone? Buy your coffee at the grocery store, or even Starbucks. It will be equally good, and a LOT cheaper.

I got hooked into this company through a pop-up that said I was the lucky one millionth reader. The grinder and cup and bags of coffee made a convenient Christmas gift to my friends, then they sent me two more bags and charged my account. I also canceled my account 3 months ago and was assured they would refund the $48 they withdrew for two bags of coffee that I returned. To date they still have NOT refunded my money. Every time I call to follow up I get "our circuits are busy". ###! These guys are crooks.

Actually I totally agree. I thought I was getting the coffee grinder and two packages of coffee. I got the grinder and 2pks. okay...since then, every 1-2wks, they have charged my account almost $50.oo. THEY HAVE ALMOST BY THEMSELVES, WIPED OUT MY BANK ACCOUNT. I'm retired, get paid beginning of the month, with all the charges I have to pay, I will barely have enough to pay my rent. No food, No heat no nothing for the month of Feb. I think internet businesses need to make their fine print readable. They are more than a scam artist...at least a scam artist most can recognize...if a person can't read the 'fine' print, that is fraud...they only advertised the $9.00 grinder and two pkgs. of coffee...where the membership was located, I don't have a clue.

Basically a screw job. Same complaints as above. Advertised as $9, but charded $34.00, then they ship you another two bags for $38.00. This is just plain immoral. I wish I had know about this before I had ordered.

I also was scammed by this company. Only I never received anything from them. No "trial offer". NOTHING. They charged me $72.95 for something I never received. I have been promised a refund and 14 days later, still no refund. I am comtacting the Attorney General's office in Indiana and Missouri.

Stealing is still against the law, no matter what you call it.

From all I have just read - it appears that I am just the latest to be taken by these crooks! I am going to get with my Credit card and cancel this one - so they cannot keep charging against it. They are unreal - 2 bags of coffee for $48.00! And this was sent just one week after the first two and the grinder...

These people should be put out of business. Because of them, I will never order anything on line again.

Seattle coffe direct is the reason people in America can't trust business in general. Their underhanded means of sales should be illegal! I'm sure drug dealers are more forthright. Good old American capitalization!
No wonder the rest of the world doesn't trust US.

t the thing that made me most unhappy was the total of 111.69 in charges in less the 3 weeks. They say I will get a full refund, but we will see... the bank will handle it as a fraudulant matter if i do not have a refund within the next 30 days... and it is fraud, I okeyed 9.00 not 34.00 and certainly did not expect 2 more charges before I said I wanted the coffee again.

AND IT IS NOT WORTH 12.50 FOR 12 OZ. PLUS SHIPPING. A TOTAL OF 34.95.

I too have fallen prey to this scam of $9.00. I called them and still no refund, I have sent their crap back, still no refund, I called back again and was told it takes 4 weeks to receive the returns...and yep you guessed it still no refund for 2 charges that equal almost $80.00. I also called about posterpass.com right after calling the coffee and it was the same girl...shady shady shady!

I was stunned when I got my statement and saw the ridiculous charges from this company. All attempts to contact them have gone unheeded. My card company has been notified as has the Better Business Bureau as well as the survey company who offered this 'promotion' in the first place.

If anyone has had success in getting a refund from these crooks, it would be nice to know.

I got the same complaint - but I put the complaint on here, also notified the BBB at the www.chicago.bbb.org to file another complaint and also my state for scams, and also every place I can find to tell them. I mentioned it to the tv stations too -
I have been scammed for more than one order of coffee and I have returned two orders and still no credit.

These people are criminal. They deserve to be put out of business and brought to court for unethical business practices. They are the ### of the world preying on innocent, good people who make the mistake of trusting. I hope the worst for all the people associated with this vile company.

I have been charge $40.00 in the last week twice for two shipments of coffee that makes a grand total of $80 in less than a week. I don't drink that much coffee also and Starbuck family size bag of coffee is that expensive at a Sam's club, BJ or Cosco. I contact the company I got a voice mail left message for some to call me back. This complaint needs to go to the Attorney General and to the Better business Bureau.

I do hope that someone from the company is reading this emails and do something about it because this is call fraud.

I agree that the info about the additional shipping and handling charges are hidden and should be more visible. I called company customer service line and cancelled further shipments, complained and am supposed to get a partial credit on the shipping charge. I agree with another person, that we should contact the Chicago better business bureau to complain, maybe the Atty General's office to get them to change their practices.

Boy I wish I had seen all of these complaints BEFORE I signed up for their promotion. I got the coffee and the grinder and they are great. But they are sending me unsolicited coffee for the past two weeks and charging my card. Luckily my credit card company likes me, and my business. I called them, disputed the charges and they closed the account so that the coffee company could not charge anything else to it. The attempts to contact the coffee company have resulted in a big fat zero. Isn't there a better business bureau for the internet?

I finally did get ahold of them to cancel: it was my second cancellation. they kept billing my credit card and had not even sent any coffee. They said they had not received the coffee I sent back (several weeks ago). Yes this company is a MAJOR scam.

Signed up to try their coffee. Paged stated $9 for starter kit.

When balancing check book I noticed they took out $34, which was not on my final page of the web. Was very disappointed in the fact that the company is not clear on charges and that they are hidden as to where you have to search for the add. charges.

Contacted the company. They already shipped product out. Customer service stated, they would refund my card and to send the products back (refuse delivery). Went through the same problem before with another company and company stated they never received product and I was out $70. Hope my account is credited sooner than 6wks. Will update as to when product was returned and card credited. Make sure companies don't have hidden fees before you follow through.

Total rip-off company. I too signed up for $9.00 starter shipment, was charged $34.68 on 5/25. On 6/4 I rec'd 2nd shipment for 2 - 12 oz. bags for $36.95. Once I got my credit card bill I sent everything back, insured and registered. Rec'd the credit for the 1st shipment for 5/25 on 7/2, the second shipment WHICH WAS IN THE SAME BOX RETURNED WITH THE FIRST SHIPMENT was credited 7/23. FOR EACH CREDIT I HAD TO CALL! The 3rd shipment was received on 6/19 for another $36.95. I called on 8/14 and was told they just received it back BUT I SENT IT BACK 'REFUSED - RETURNED TO SENDER". I received only $25.95 credit on that shipment, which made another phone call today 9/12/07 and was told they would credit the other $11.00. SOOOOOO FOR ALMOST 4 MONTHS THEY HAVE BEEN USING MY MONEY! BEWARE!

A promise of 2 bags of coffee and a quality coffee grinder for $9 with a commitment of 2 bags of coffee delivered to my door, for $9.95 a month?!? I ADORE a good cup of joe! Sign me up! A few days later... a shipment of two bags of coffee and a worthless coffee grinder with no receipt. A charge of $34 to my checking account. 7 days later, a charge of $38. 75 with no related product delivered. 11 days later, ANOTHER charge of $38.75 with no product delivered. I go online to cancel my subscription, but they say "your account could not be found" (although my credit card info is fiercely protected by these fine business folk who are charging it less then every two weeks!). I try to call and only get voice recordings with no returned call. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau's online complaint system and I recommend others do the same. These are unfair and unethical business practices. Even a class action lawsuit is warranted. These kinds of online shenanigans are disgusting and criminal. I advise people to keep meticulous notes of their encounters with this business.

For the past couple of years we continue to receive scathing phone calls & flaming emails regarding the mistaken identity between our company Seattle Gourmet Coffee & SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT. I must go on the record & say that we are not SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT, nor are we connected in any way. We are coffee roasters located in Seattle, whereas they are not coffee roasters & not located in Seattle. They are located somewhere in Illinois. Our company does not promote coffee in this way, nor do we conduct questionable business practices like that. Not only have we lost business due to the unethical practices by this company, but our reputation has taken a hit after being a well branded name on the internet for over 12 years. I has reached the point to where we had to post a warning on our site to inform everyone that we are not SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT. So please if you would like to order from an honest company feel free to view our site, & pass the word on to others that we are Seattle Gourmet Coffee & not SEATTLE COFFEE DIRECT.

Thank you.

Dispute the charges at your bank, Cancel your card or be prepared to get more charges on it, write all places on the web to complain, send complaint to www.chicago.bbb.org, the chicago better business bureau, parent company Peel, Inc. See if they really have an office, a warehouse, picket it, jam their fax lines, do whatever we can to shut this bogus place down &... don't drink their coffee.

My first agreement was to try their coffee for a 9 dollar charge. I received a 34 dollar charge. The next thing I know I'm receiving a 38.95 charge for a product that was returned. I also called the company and told them to cancel my account, I did not want any further orders or charges. I still have the charge on my card. I will contact the BBB regarding this company. They should be sued.

I did the same thing through a survey company as everyone else. They promised a coffee grinder and two bags of coffee. The same day $34.00 was charged to my account. I have been trying to call them and each time I get a recording talking about their hours and to leave a message. This is total BS. I am going to have to change my bank account information. Like an idiot I used my bank card because I do not have a credit card. I thank everyone who posted their complaint because I would have thought I was alone on this. Anybody who sees this should take heed and steer clear of this company. If anyone reads this has a suggestion of how to get back at this company and it has worked, feel free to contact me by e-mail.

Thanks.

I completed a survey for the Cuisinart Coffee Grinder and two free bags of coffee. Apparently, there is some "click here for details" page which states that the grinder and coffee is $9 but shipping is $25.00! What company are they using for shipping that charges $25.00? Then within six days I was charged another $38.95 for more coffee that I did not want!

I called and left a message at [protected]. Natalie called me back and was very rude! She told me to mark the package that is currently on its way to me as a return to sender. When they receive the coffee back they will credit my account $38.95. Natalie, then hung up on me! I called back and asked for a supervisor and spoke to Shalonda. She was kinda rude too but did agree to credit me $7.66 for the unopened bag of coffee that I have from the first shipment and told me not to send it back. So, at least I got my account canceled and will get a credit for the $38.95 plus another $7.66. How can companies like this operate?

In the meantime, I have called my bank and canceled that account just to be safe.

DO NOT ORDER COFFEE FROM THIS COMPANY EVER!

I took a survey on line to receive a free coffee grinder. It showed up with two bags of coffee. Then two more bags of coffee showed up a week later. They charged me $34.00 for the FREE coffee grinder, and then an additional $36.95 for the two extra bags of coffee.

Seattle coffee direct has to be the biggest rip off merchants ever! Not only due id they empty my bank account leaving it in the red and incurring charges, but they took all my money I was saving for a wreath for my sister who died suddenly.

I also signed up for $9 coffee was charged $34. I ordered on 5/18 - got my cc bill on 5/29 - called to voice objection to charge on 6/7 and the next shipment had already been sent! I am apparently signed up in a club for shipments every 2 weeks! I was told that part of that 34.00 was a membership fee - but now it ends up it is 2 bags @ $9 ea = 18 and she said it was a $25 SHIPPING FEE!

I have reported to the BBB Bureau (the company listed for the domain of (seattlecoffeedirect.com OR coffeeroastersdirect.com) is PEEL, INC - which is listed in the BBB for a Chicago based company.
