I'm about to get a neo 1.6 M. Reading all of your post is making me think twice, but satria has always been a must-have car in my life long list. I will pursue my interest in getting the car. After a couple of months, if you don't see my follow up post, it means my car is all well. In my opinion, if you handle your baby well, she'll give you good results. Period.
Hm...i get my Satria Neo 1.6 when it was launch back in 2006. maybe among the earliest owner. now, it has been an exciting 4 years and i still love my neo. it has reached 170, xxx km (always on long distance move) and still going well. unbelievably, or maybe i'm just a lucky one, i had not encounter any of the problem you guys had gone thro. now proton come out with "Inspira". maybe i will get one. thanks...
after i buy my satri neo 1 week later
- central lock connot up...door cannot open.
- mounting vibrate send to HQJB repair.. change new one
- after few month same problem continue
- i go to complaint they say i need to send HQKL to check problem
- and HQKL side decide to come in JB foe my problem
( this mounting problem start when my NEO was 1 month that mean my milegue about 500-700 km. and every 5000km to service i'll complaint about that )
- until my mileuge reach 49800km ( 9time service acording to every 5000km) HQKL person call me. He handle my case.
- i send my car to check about 1wk. sometime i go to see how is progress
- 1day i see my on road.. (my rutine road to my workplace and HQJB was close ) the person drove my car so fastly i cant chase ( i used my frend car ATOS) maybe thats y cannot chase.
- 2morrow morning i call HQJB to check how is condition..and they say still in progress
-after 1 1/2 wk the per call me to test drive with me to make sure that vibrate still noising or not
- i came and drive.. inside the car with me is Proton Branch Manager of Costumer Service, Proton Branch Manager of Sales and from HQKL foreman who handle my chase.
( everybody know proton waranty that time is 50, 000km or 3year wich come first)
- so, when i start my engine the person tell me that we test you car more than 150km coz we need to makesure that vibrate. i felt its ok i hope that vibrate solve.
- and when i drive that vibrate still noising. so i tell that person inside my car
- very the simple answer..they say 'bang PROTON memang mcm nie bang..kita dah cuba tpi hanya stakat ni kita bleh bantu abang.. mana2 kreta pun kalau jln kat tmpt tak rata memang bunyi bang.. lagi pun bang kita dah xboleh buat apa2 sebab milegue abg dah 50000km, waranty dah habis bang..lgi pun kita ada byk lgi kereta nk settle nie bang...
- so.. i just cant say anythink... i cant complaint to anybody anymore coz inside my car is HQJB branch MANAGER.. what can i do? call HQKL about my problem? hahaha they have no time for me...
- that time i was thinking myself.. when u try to sell u car, , ..u dint tell me like that...but now u can say anyword u wan...
- until now my car 4year already...i still used it..still vibrate..but when service i didt go that place anyanymore...
- This is What Proton with they Costumers.. i like proton car they have improvment BUT sometime this people will make this company Gone Wrong...
Proton 1 word is totally suck...so many proton dealer is sharing their system...when got new buyer ..their will deliver all old stock and sell us as new car..so all the part and performance is totally suck..no QA...only wait until ppl cars spoile n send back proton n charge us..make ppl life more complicated..Hope everyone see this comment ...and think twice about proton..their have no new car...all is old stock ..n sell it in market especially SIANG HIN subang outlet is worst.please ALERT!
I bought a BRAND NEW Proton Satria New 7 days ago and I have had endless broblems! After having a closer look I noticed that the ower inlet (lighter) cap was broken off. THe rear back fog light button was stuck and would not reset. The wiper arms was badly corroaded/rusted. I reported it the next day and Proton Edenvale informed me that the rust comes from weeks at sea as the car was imported via sea freight. After all this I got a flat tyre on day 6 and after removing the left front tyre we noticed some more rust, after closer inspection we found that the whole under part of the car including the swing arms, suspension and drive shaft was badly rusted. I was shocked, I have been driving my daughter to school in that car that is clearly not save and a ticking time bomb. after reporting the situation with pictures for support I have had no assistance from Proton Edenvale. 4 days ago I decided to return the car to them as I would like the brand new car that I have paid for. I am still waiting for their answer, no reply, so support NOTHING. I have to call them and then still they have no answer for me. I do not want the parts replaced, I want the car replaced! I dont even have number plates yet and my car is already back in the shop. I regret everyday that I bought that Proton. If you were thinking of buying one, please think twice! Car looks nice but you will not have any support once something goes wrong.
I bought brand new satria neo 1.6(A), my car got this problem before my first service and now millege
only about 400km.
1. first day i found out got some scratch on the hand brake puller and gear holder.
2. found out 1 side of back lamp cover inside boot missing.
3. proton got a ring lamp at the key insert place but my that ring lamp doesnt work (no light).
4. everytime i start my car, my car fuse always blown (memory fuse 10A). when this fuse blown, my
car audio player cannot on, clock doesnt work, and alarm system doesnt work, every counter reset to
zero whenever i off my car.
5. Dont know what problem will come next!
I send my proton satria neo in for rear shocks(still under warantee).i had to wait almost 3weeks.
when they finally deliver i send my car for them to be fitted.
got my car back.
when i opened the boot to clean off their dirty hand marks i saw that they had broke my pannels.
after complaining they refused to replace them.
got my car back from a service drove 1000km.
i saw that my car wass pissing iol all over the drive way
phoned proton the following morning tp complain AGAIN
they came and fetched.
@ the workshop they phoned me to tell me there was a crack in the sump
they tried to cover it up by applying SELICONE SEALANT(WOW great service)
i have to sit without a car for a whole month
and still waiting for delivery for my precious gold platted sump
i really think proton's service suck
next year i will SELL the damn thing and buy sumthing worth paying for
faulty car / poor after sales service
1) All door handles are stiff and cannot be easily opened
2) Boot stiff difficult to open
3) Oil leak on light wires
4) Panel switches – hazards, demister, etc not working.
5) Radiator fan doesn’t go off when engine is switched off but if you turn the engine on and immediately switch it off the fan switches off.
6) The foot rest is loose.
7) Engine missing.
8) Mirror adjustment not working. (FIXED)
9) Take of very slow and sluggish.
10) Slowing down at robots or down hills the revs increase.
11) Door rubbers seem to have melted. (REPLACED)
12) Squeaking at the back.
13) Both the front and back badges need to be replaced. 14) This was supposed to be a brand new car but it was kept in storage for 2 years as per the sticker on the door which shows that the vehicle was manufactured in Oct 2004.
Further to above I feel that I have been “cheated” because I was under the impression that I purchased a brand new 2007 model vehicle but not according to my statement number 14. It has also been brought to my attention that a great number of the Australian version of the Proton was called back because of faults and problems. I was never informed of this by your sales person.
my nominal fuel consumption was 7.9 to 8.2 since i bought the vehicle 2019.now after 2nd gearbox change it has gone up to 9.5 liter /100km
Why is this so

Part Order Requisition : A 164223
Description : Power Steering Pump
Service Centre : 2 S Fook Loi (Mile 1.5) Sandakan ,Sabah.
Order Date : 1/03/2023
Car : SMD 8366
Model : Proton Saga.
Already 3 month still receive the part. such bad service
Kereta overheat ketika memandu.Bila buka radiator cap tengok penuh karat.3 kali service di service center semenjak beli kereta.
Kereta baru pakai 2 tahun !
After 1month received (30th Oct 2022) the car, the power window at driver side cannot use on 5th Dec 2022.
I order my car around December 2021 and until now July 2022, I still did not receive my car. I did request my SA to get the detail when I will receive my car but she failed to respond. Proton should give customer target date/month for car delivery to customer so we are may have some patience of waiting our car.
my car has all those same problems proton is the biggest piece of ### going my advice buy a toyota cant go wrong there
my proton savvy was fine until one day i had to jump start it cause i left the lights on lol then my engine light started to come on the car started to rev high when changing gears Proton world in wodonga vic looked at it reckons they had to adjust my valves and that cost me 400 Since then the car has had nothing but problems and THE PROTON DEALERS wodonga wont do anything they say its not covered under warranty cause they say my machanic didnt do my services properly etc etc they wanted to charge me 3500 to replace the valves saying they were faulty ? but since they worked on it at their Proton dealership the car has been running sooo bad the proton dealers have been the worst ever to deal with hanging up on us treating us badly and rudely I have told many people never buy a proton Yeah it changes gears sluggish and yes the fan does occastionally stay on when the cars turned off until u turn the fan off my immobiliser stays on and i cant start the car and the alarm goes off it has rattles in side and from my steering wheel i have only 60, 000 on it and i cant wait till i can afford to sell this car and get a realiable one !
Because of all the problems I am having with my Proton Gen 2 I wanted to try trade it in and get a completely different car. 8 months ago they offered me R80000 and 1 month ago they offered me R40000. Will NEVER get the thing sold. Need to put it on the rubbish dump and recycle the metal. Will be worth more that way.
I bought my Gen 2 in 2008 and have had ENDLESS problems with my car. It's been in and out of the workshop countless times and every time I get it back, something else goes wrong. Some of the problems I have, they just say that there's nothing they can do for me. What a joke. My car is currently in the workshop because the alternator has packed up. Heavens above, never heard of something that ridiculous. A really old car maybe but not a car that's not even 2 years old.
1. Squeek in the back (boot area). (The noise has returned). The lock was looked at and they did something there. Now when you open the boot, it’s very difficult to pull the lever. When you close the boot it has to be slammed a couple of times. I’ve been told that the car needs to be on a level surface to close the boot properly first time. I don’t agree with this and have asked for something in writing to this affect. I told Shane Brevin that whatever has been done, what if down the line something goes wrong and then I sit with the problem of a broken latch on the boot or something. Shouldn’t be this way.
2. Central Locking – locks sometimes and other times not. Stand pushing the button for a minute or so before the car actually opens. Most of the time I just lock it and unlock it with the key but the key gets stuck in the lock, feels like it is going to break in the lock
3. Steering controls – when you push volume down it mutes, volume up changes the station and the right buttons change the volume, intimitant. When there is a CD in and you push volume down it pauses the CD.
4. Mats – since I got my car 14 December 2007 they have promised me Proton mats and I still have Diahatsu mats
5. Can smell petrol if you open windows while driving
6. Car very heavy on petrol
7. I have been told that the tank capacity of the Gen 2 is 50 litres for the petrol tank. I ran out of petrol and then filled up my car, it took just under 41 litres?
8. Looses power very quickly, 100 times worse with the aircon on
9. The bump/scratch on the front right bumper at the bottom
10. Hood lining is pulling off
11. When you drive and then stop and open the door there is a really, really bad smell that comes into the car. I have been told that it is a box for the exhaust and it is normal. Can’t be normal to smell that bad and I’ve driven 7000km’s already and I have spoken to numerous people who say it’s not right. I even phoned the Umhlanga branch and they said it’s not right. This was looked at and they changed the Catalytic Converter. This bad smell has now come back, loosing power again and heavy on petrol. Car sometimes jerks slightly.
12. There is a rattle by the safety belt on the drivers side. This is coming from the lock on the door. They changed the lock but they had damaged the lock so I told them to change it. It’s still rattling badly. When you drive on the freeway, sounds like wires rattling in the door.
13. The car doesn’t go well into 2nd gear. Sometimes I struggle to get it out but mostly it’s to put it into gear.
14. I’ve been told that the stain on the back seat won’t come off. What now?
15. The alternator has packed up.
16. Alarm keeps going off by itself at any time, anywhere. This has been attended to 4 times. Still doing it.
PROTON IS A JOKE. They only sell these cars under false pretenses.

yes..im totally agree with u guys coz now im in ur situation..but at the other branch means Peringgit Malacca..when im doing survey which car that i wanna to buy, just coincidence i get know Cynthia, the proton sales women..actually, that time they open their booth at Aeon Malacca..seriously, when listen to her n she try to convince me to buy NEW SAGA 1.3, im really happy.but then, from day to day, week to week, im just really disappointed with her coz she like to giving promise that she can't keep n reason that doesn't make a sense..start from JPJ issue, continue with the day that i get the car, until to petrol voucher case..its really make me mad onto her..so for my opinion, PROTON service it was just TOO BAD n doesn't have any improvement..
Hi there, how long It take to u receive your after sign agreement with bank?
Not point to set-up I-Care, this I-Care doesn't care, should be called Proton D-Care ( Don't Care ).
The CEO is also don't care. He never replies to the mails you sent and never attend to the complaints you made, who does his KPI ? This is called Malaysia Boleh !
If any MNC has this kind of CEO, the CEO will be out in no-time.
Proton never improve from their set-backs. The After Sales service is very very poor. When you complain of any problems, they will try to brush it away.
Proton can design a new car from the plastform but never pay any attention to their vendors selection and never pay attention to build quality.
Why do we go thru the pain to buy this Proton Exora?
salam, i face the same problem, check my entry
