In August 2024 I transferred $1,000. to Robinhood and invested it in Palantir.
March 25th my investment showed a balance of $2976.98 and I requested my Palantir stock be sold, and on settling the next day I tried to make a withdrawal of my funds.
The website Transfers and Withdrawal page is pretty straightforward, but when I filled in the amount to withdraw and my acc't. on file to send it to, the page reversed it upon pressing the Withdraw key, now showing it as withdrawing from my bank and to Robinhood! I got an error message, so I tried again over and over and each time the same thing happened until a message displayed that said my acc't. was now restricted due to security concerns.
For over a month now, as of April 30th, I've bent over backwards trying to resolve this. Support said they needed proof of my identity, demanding copies of my drivers license, my passport, 3 "live" pictures of myself (front, left side & right side), and a copy in pdf format of my most recent bank statement. I complied and sent these in, to no avail. I kept getting addt'l. messages repeating these same demands, which I also complied with. I also sent them emails expressing my frustration with these actions, and spoke with several different reps with Support at Robinhood, who were polite and seemed helpful, but still no results.
Finally I (and my wife) got emails saying they were closing my accounts! Also, I could no longer call the numbers to talk with anyone from Support, but could only use the link on the app or website. But when the AI voice answered it only said my account(s) were closed and that I could not reopen them!
Also, today I logged in to the website, and it showed my balance as being $2,076. when it was shown as $2976.98 from March 26 right up until April 29th! Are they spending my money?!
So I've been so stressed out over this entire process, I'm surprised I haven't had a stroke or something. (I'm 74 yrs. old) Now I see Robinhood has done exactly the same to numerous folks over the past few years! Have they no ethics at all?
Please help me get this resolved, and to retrieve my money. As said, I am 74 yrs. old now and of very modest means, living primarily on just Social Security. We're not talking a lot of money at stake here, but I have very little resources and can't afford to hire a lawyer.
Thank you,
Russell Evans
