I have to agree with him about getting the run around with financial aid. I too had to file a 1040x when I was told by the government that I filed correctly. However, instead of complaining and being angry about it, I filed it. I didn't even have to wait until I received the official copy of it, all I had to do was send in the same form to the college that I sent into the IRS. (Who, by the way, informed the school that I had filed correctly.) I love the University of Phoenix, with the exception of my financial aid. I am still getting the run around about my refund, which really makes me angry, and I had a twisted financial aid advisor at first. Now, I have a good one who has done in less than one week, what it took the previous one since April to do. My teachers are excellent, and now, so are all my advisors.
ALL schools with online classes charge more for internet courses. ALL of them. Plus, a degree is a degree from an accredited university, which I may add, the University of Phoenix is. When a person is taking online classes, it is for the convenience of being able to take these classes at basically your own pace. If you want convenience, you have to pay for it. Plus, a friend of mine is taking classes through Vatterot college, here in Joplin, MO and she too is going to wind up owing 30, 000 for her associate's degree. While it is an outstanding amount of money, it is not impossible to pay back, and it is definately worth it. There is no question about whether I feel it is worth it to pay back that kind of money or not, because I do. A good education, such as the one I am receiving from Phoenix, is priceless.
I love the University of Phoenix, with one exception, FINANCIAL AID. I had a financial aid advisor that refused to do his job correctly, and treated me as if I was ###ed when I would ask questions about my refunds. However, my beginning advisor and my academic advisor more than made up for his lack of intelligence. The only problem I am having now is no one seems to know when they are going to get my refunds back to me so that I can take care of my bills and get my new computer so that I can continue attending class. It is extremely frustrating for me, but I do feel that my new financial aid advisor is just as frustrated with the situation. She is always patient with me, and gives me the best answers she can give me to the best of her knowledge. It's just so frustrating and aggrivating, knowing that the excess money the have from my student loans is MY money, I have to pay it back, but they feel that they can hold on to it for as long as they want.
I love the University of Phoenix. I do agree however, that their financial aid could definately use a kick in the butt to get straightened out.
" I wanted to go to school for a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, but my enrollment adviser told me that I would have to get an Associate's degree first and they don't have an Associate's in Elementary Education."

First and foremost, B*LL[censored] they don't. I'm enrolled in that program right now. Don't say things that aren't true. I have also done a lot of research on the University of Phoenix, and I have heard a lot more good things about this school than bad. May I also point out that their Associate's program for Elementary Education has been there for several YEARS. I understand that not everyone is going to be pleased with an experience. I am sure that I could put a complaint about Sprint on here that many people would get angry about, but it would be an HONEST complaint. It would not be some made-up story from my imagination just because I didn't get the service that I want.

Secondly, the proper posting at University of Phoenix is two substanative posts on four different days of the week. That's not too much to ask. That's kind of like saying to a high school student, or a traditional college student, to discuss two different productive topics on four days of the week. Wow, something they should do anyway. When you attend college, it is to get your education, not to slack off. That's something you have to work at.

I understand that not everyone is going to have a good experience with this school. I have honestly not had the best one. Financial aid has REALLY been d*ck*ng me around, and it makes me very angry. However, I have had nothing but GOOD experiences with my teachers, my enrollment advisor, and my academic advisor. Now that I have a new financial aid advisor, things are going much smoother. If you all want a bad school experience, deal with the things I had to at the community college in Trenton, MO. No explanations about anything at all. Not school work, not enrollment, not financial aid, NOTHING. I'm sure other's had a great experience there, but I didn't.
