WOW! you certainly have a lot of anger! To call a cashier OBESE while she was just trying to do her job. I feel sorry for you. You must be really unhappy with yourself and/or your own body to say that.
Have a nice day! I hope things work out better for you and your life!
Now this is the first legitiment compalint i have seen on this website. They should have checked the time on you bill and taken pity on you just trying to make a simple exchange for a bike you bought which you would like to work. I would have taken pity on you.
Oh My God! Shoppers at Canadian Tire are sometiems so stupid sometimes to put it bluntly. There are people trying to do fradulent returns. I have CAUGHT some of them. So I don't care if you swear to me you aren't or if you have credit cards with your name on them, you could have stolen those for all we know too, or if you bring in a piece of paper with 20 signatures from people swearing that you really who you say you are! It's for your own saftey. I agree with one of the previous posts, the Police would not accept that for identification and we will not either. And as for misusing your information, I know I don't work in customer service to get everyone's phone numbers and charge stuff to their credit cards. I do not want to ask for your phone number because you'll think I'm hitting on you which could not be further from the truth. So get over it. We forget the phone numbers as soon as we type them into the computer and are happy to see you walk out the door. As for those teenagers who "can't do anything" maybe it's because ofyour attitude that no one helped you. Those incompetent teenagers, as you said, have the choice to decide how far we go with helping you. We can return everything in reality, even though we're not supposed to, but it's up to you by how you treat us if we help you to the fullest of our ability. If you're rude, don't expect us to not be rude right back to you. It's human nature. If you were being kicked, would you not kick back? So think about that next time you're there. Oh, and by the way, employees laugh at you when you leave if you act like that. Dont' think it doesn't happen, because it does everyday for the most insane customers who they they're always right.
In response to Jody Gardner, were you not once a 16 year old teenage girl? Or are you now a bitter old woman who is envious of the youthful? Give them a break! and try to remember what you were like when you were 16. Those kids are just trying to have fun at work and make a little extra cash. Geeze. Give it a rest!
In response to Marvin Lim... Think about what you wrote last. If you owned a business would you rather have your empolyees taking money into the store rather than giving it back? The point of a business is to make money, not give it back. Geeze, I would love to see how you would run a business! That's why there is usually only one person in customer service at any given time.
Geeze...
Well, it does say on the back of the reciept that returns will be made to a customer if the product is UNUSED and IN ORIGINAL PACKAGING within 90 days. If you took it out and used it, then CLEARLY it is no longer in the original packaging and it has been used. DUH! In that case, then the Manufactures Warranty would apply. The Manufactures (people who make the product you're buying) have set out there own warranties on how they want their so call "defective" products will be handled. It is almost always not Canadian Tire who will have those policies. If Customer Service returns it for you and gives you your money back, then the store will not reimbursed for it and the CUSTOMER SERVICE EMPLOYEES will have to answer to it for you. It also says that Canadian Tire will take things back, "To their discresion." There are signs posted in the store and it's on the back of your flipping receipt. If you're making a large purchase like that, then most people would check the return policy at customer service... I know I would if I was making a purchase that large at any store. It's just common sense to protect yourselft.
In response to Cat Rodrigues... THANK YOU! I am an employee at Canadian Tire and I agree with you 100% on mostly everything you said! We are WAY underpaid and over worked. I have ALL the responsibilites of a supervisor, however I do not recieve the same pay. I "close" Customer Service and am in charge of at least 5 other employees, however i have not recieved any acknowledgment, not to mention any pay increase, and customers look at me like i'm just another stupid and dumb employee. Our owner has decided to cut hours and seems to belive that we only need 1 employee in every dept. When someone complains, their complaint is either thrown out the window or laughed at. It's disgusting. I belive in helping customers if I can and if they are respectful. Most customers just DEMAND to be helped like they are the only ones in the whole entire store. GET OVER YOURSELF. We're busy too. We have MANY other things to do in our shift than stand there and hear you complain about why you dont like this product. We can't make someone come help you or answer your phone call. And see that line standing behind you at customer service? They all want to be helped too so shut up and stop complaining like a fool. Your complaint will get you no where because once you're gone out the door, we won't even remember what you were complaing about, just that you were hilarious and we'll laugh at you.
It's sad, but true.
Well, isn't someone just having a rotten day? My post was just meant to be polite and state that people who want something done for them should be polite to the people who are in the postition of power to help them. If you think you were being talked to rudely or sarcastically, would you not speak back in a rude or sarcastic voice? If you are being kicked, would you not kick back. It's human nature.
Most of the employees you deal with in retail stores do not give a cr*p about the return system, they are just told what to do and they do it. They can't change the system, so shut your mouth and stop yelling at them- it's not they're fault so they might get defensive if you think it is and start yelling at them. Go to the owner of the store and talk to them, or the head of the coorportation.
I have seen it time and time again, not just at Canadian Tire, where an employee was going to help a person, but they were spoken to rudely or made it seem like they were stupid, so the employee did not help them. If you are polite and treat others the way you would like to be treated, you will not have a problem. Didn't you learn the saying "Treat others they way you would like to be treated" when you were just a toddler? It's really that simple.
All I meant was treat people with respect everywhere you go. If you don't you should expect any respect back.
***If you don't treat people with respect, you shouldn't expect any respect back***
HaHa. That's why no one came to help you. They were probably talking about you in the back and laughing.
By the way, I'm sure you're one of those people who "spend thousands of dollars a year here and I won't be ever shopping here again!" Well good for you. We'll be GLAD to escort you out and pray for those people at Home Depot where you're probably going next.
Good Luck getting service anywhere if you act like that.
To Jeff K.,
You are an idiot. Who the hell do you think you are? If you don't like the policy, get out of the store. They are just trying to help you. But I guess you're a big man who can take care of yourself, right? You don't need anybody. I guess you've never been subject to identity or credit card theft and aren't bright enough to figure out there is a reason behind the poilcy. You're not the center of the universe and that policy is not just in place to disrupt your life. Most people probably think it's great - especially if you've been subject to credit card theft. DUH!
Wow. I did not know posting a simple message would make some people get so upset. I did not mean to offend anyone I was simply just stating that age old saying "treat others they way you would like to be treated." Milan, I'm sorry you think the world is against you and every employee is the same and a certian store. Kim I'm sorry you think all Canadian Tire employees are "incompetent teenagers" and you feel the need to belittle me.
Nevertheless, think about your post logically. If you owned a large business would your aim be to make money? I would think so. Therefore, would you rather hire a teenager and pay them minimum wage or hire a more skilled ADULT (for the sake of argument) and pay them a much much more higher wage. Obviously you would hire the young one and train them to the best of your ability in order to have the business (and yourself) making much more money. But with your attitude, I'm sure no one really missed you at your Canadian Tire anyways. If you give people a chance, yo'ure realize that they're not all the same. Just because they work at an establishment does mean they all think alike.
Thank you Bill. I agree that by her post, she is bitter towards everyone who tries to help her. I feel deeply sorry for those around her because she probably makes their days just go downhill when she shows up. I belive, that by her post, she thinks the world must bow down to her when she's ready for them to do so and if you make her wait- WATCH OUT! Out come the claws and the imprints are left on the COMPUTER BLOG about Canadian Tire. Ha.
**Before you tell everyone you recieve such horrible customer service, look at how you're treating the employee. If you go in there with some unreasonable return, then you shoudl be turned away. If you think you're better than the CSR's and you deserve the universe handed to you on a silver platter just becuase you showed up or you want it, then you are in for a rude awakening one day. I just wish I would be there to see it. Try to treat others with respect and you will recieve respect in return. It's not a hard concept to learn (unless you're too proud), you should have been hearing it since you were a child**
"ADDITIONALLY, " no where on here have I posted my age. I am an adult, working a full time job at a small business. So I don't know where you invented that I am a "little girl." Shows your sterotypical thinking though. Nice.
They ask for Photo ID to help prevent fradulent returns. DUH!
Canadian Tire does not carry every key in the world. I doubt they had that type of key, if they did I'm sure they would have cut it for you. Think about how many keys they would have to stock in their store just hoping someone buys a rare one eventually so they won't loose their money.
They probably don't really care since you are only one person who only spent $100 on a cheap bike. Sorry about that though. Guess you'll be sure to try things out before you buy them from now one. Lesson learned the hard way - I hate when that happens.
