Good day!

I would like to lodge a complaint against the hospital, for the way my child and I were treated.

Since the admission of my son, I have been encountering problems with your staff. At first, it was my son's name. We named our son that particular name, if it's hard for anyone to pronounce just ask we will tell you the correct pronunciation. No need to be passive aggressive, and suggest a name he doesn't answer to.

He is admitted to Floor G, room 2. My son's drip had a leak. I've alerted the staff, and I was ignored. His bandage holding the drip is dirty, no one sees the need to change it.

The pediatrician, Dr Pitso has been nothing but rude, condescending, and out right insensitive, and a bit disrespectful towards me. I'm a mom, if there's anything that pertains to my son, she must let me know. Communicate properly. She speaks rudely. There's also a language barrier. I don't understand Pedi, she insists on addressing me in a language that I don't understand. English is still universal, and as far as I know most South African medical universities offer their degrees in that language. So she can clearly communicate in English, but just disregards that.

The Day shift staff, plain rude. The night shift staff, have been amazing.

Yesterday around visiting hour, my family was treated harshly by the security. They literally barged in, and tried to throw the visitors out. I tried to explain to them, and the supervisor that the father can remain whilst my Mom was visiting. It is even written that the father can remain with the patient with 2 visitors, so we were not breaking any rules. I was told, if my family wants to meet up we should convene at the Cafe. That to me sounds weird, this was not a social call. My aunt and mom, came to see my sick offspring. If it's a matter of germs, then why did they barge in without sanitizing. So it's ok for the security to further spread germs, than my family who were observing rules.

No one listened or gave apologies for this rude behaviour. The approach was just uncalled for.

I strongly believe, if I was a person of different colour, and maybe an older mother I would have been treated differently. Yes, my age and colour prompted these prejudice and treatment.

I'm appalled, and very distraught. Never in my life, have I been treated so poorly by a medical facility staff. Already my son getting sick, is putting a strain on our family. But we expected the facility like Linksfield, to ease that. Hospitals are places were people get helped, but with your current staff attitudes that is not the case.
