I visited Modern Beauty salon located at Blk 201 Hougang Street 21 on 8 December 2019 for my facial appointment at 1.30pm. My client no. is 57620.

I have been a long term customer with the salon for about 7 years. And I have taken up quite a number of various facial and slimming packages. Having said this, which means I have also experienced many times the hard sell tactics by beauticians and branch managers. As I always like to stick to use my existing facial package, I would tell upfront to the beautician, since I know the beautician and the branch manager would relentlessly persuade me to try and then buy other types of facial packages, claiming that it would suit my skin, etc...

However, the visit to the salon at Hougang branch on 9 December 2019 really angered and disappointed me. Before the facial started, the branch manager, Tli Jie, came to check on my face and persistently asked me to try other type of facial, despite my decision to use my existing package. I eventually agreed as I did not want to waste my facial time on communicating with her further. But I made myself clear to her that I would not want to take up any other package for the time being. Upon hearing me, she sounded unfriendly and then left the facial room before the beautician cleaned my face. I could then hear the branch manager talking outside the room with her other co-worker that she seemed like talking rubbish to someone. She sounded unpleased. It was very rude of her to talk in such a way.

After my facial session was about to end, the branch manager, Tli Jie, walked into my room again. She still continued to ask me to buy new package. I politely rejected. She then still pestered me with hard and pushy selling tactics. Which I had to pay a sum of money, etc... As I had repeatedly told her my intention not to take up new package since I hardly have time to use my existing package, I was getting annoyed with her continuous hard selling and wasting my time. She also told me that if I buy package from her branch, I would get priority when it comes to appointment booking. This is [censored]. I retorted the fact that online facial appointment booking did not need her branch's manual intervention to prioritize any customer. I then asked her to provide me with an updated summary of my existing package. She told me to ask from the reception counter. At the end, she sounded unhappy and hastily left my facial room since she knew I would not buy any new package.

When I went to the reception counter to ask for a printed updated summary, the female receptionist told me the printer was faulty. I asked her to write down on paper since she could see from her computer screen and it was only a short summary. Guess what? She gave me the look of impossible to write me a mere short summary of my package. Instead, she asked me to visit another day to get a printed summary. I was getting disappointed and I told her I had the right to know my package right then. I asked for the branch manager, Tli Jie, to come to the reception counter and complaint to her what I experienced with the receptionist. Instead of hearing me, the branch manager rudely confronted me. We then argued and I told her she failed to train her receptionist well. As a front desk receptionist, people-orientated is the foremost quality to possess. Neither the branch manager nor the receptionist felt apologetic. At the end, I asked the branch manager whether she ought to owe me an apology, only then she apologized insincerely and walked away, leaving me feeling angry and disappointed. I wondered how she could become a branch manager when she herself has bad attitude and poor service quality.

I really would like Modern Beauty salon management to take serious review and action on the poor quality of their employees' service. There have been a lot of negative comments seen online on Modern Beauty salon over the years and such negativity still has not improved. I personally do not enjoy going for facial or slimming sessions with Modern Beauty anymore after this unhappy incident at Hougang branch. I would not recommend to my family and friends too.

I agreed to all the complaints review about this beauty spa.
When i go down to do my massage, they never fail to promote their package every of my visit.
Their tactic is, they will ask me to try new massage. They will do the massage very well and after that they will ask me to sign the package. If I said that Idon't have so much money, then they will suggest to deduct from my existing package and top up with cash.
In my opinion, their aim is to promote their packages and not to provide good service to keep their customers.
Very difficult to get a slot and i still have many unused. How to get refund from them?
I will never recommend anyone to Modern Beauty and Giman.
My advise to them, there are so many spa up there, please be ethical and professional in your services.
