Mavis Discount Tire - Wheel alignment

Hello Corporate, I want to inform to you a complaint and concern from your Pawling NY branch. I took my daughters car to get a wheel alignment on a Saturday with an appointment. I dropped off the car and went to the auto parts store to waste time while the car was being services, when I get back to Mavis I see my daughters car parked outside so I tell my daughter, wow they did the alignment quick. I go in the store and the clerk tells me that the alignment could not be done because of bad tie rods. I tell the clerk ok, ill bring it back with the new tie rods for the alignment. I tell my daughter let me drive, I start the car, put it in reverse and I feel the wheel dragging on the ground and going sideways, I put the car on park and go outside, the wheel on the driver side was all the way to the left and the other was straight. I run inside to call the service clerk told him lets talk outside and told him what was going on, he looked at the car and said your tie rod broke, I told him your wheel alignment guy must off done something for it fall of the joint in your parking lot. he tells me that I was making accusations and that I could have done something to it to blame the tech. If my daughter was driving while leaving the Mavis store and the tie rod came off, she could have had a bad accident or worse. I told the guy the car is in your store and that they were responsible, how is it that a tie rod falls out of the socket right after the car was checked and going in reverse straight out of the Mavis store. I spoke to the manager and he told me he will install the tie rods and do the alignment, this was Saturday, I told the manager I ordered the tie rods and I will bring them on Tuesday, after going back and forth, Tuesday I called to ask when will my car be ready, was told they will not get to it till Wednesday, I call the store Wednesday, was told the mechanic called out sick and it could not be done, called Thursday morning, was told they could not get it done because they needed a dolly to move the car into the shop and that the dolly was on its way from corporate. 2pm came and I drove personally to the store to find the crew listening to loud music while working, I called out the manager and he told me the same story, he was waiting for a dolly from corporate. He tried backing the car up with the tie rod hanging and did not work, The Manager had an attitude, went inside and came outside with a jack, slammed the jack on the ground and began lifting the car. I suggested to him what if he put the the rod back in the joint to see if he can drive it inside, right away with a bad attitude he said oh you make it sound like it was that easy, maybe we can use a magic wand, grabbed the jack and took it inside. Now I was really upset and did not understand how unprofessional the Mavis store operates. I got in my car and drove away. At around 3:30 pm I get a phone call that the car was ready. I guess they had a magic wand to get the car done in 1 hour or they were just being rude and making me wait.

Mavis Discount Tire - Inspection

I went to the Mavis discount tire this morning in Patterson, NY on state route 22 at 10am. I brought my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for an inspection. I maintain the vehicle and I rarely drive it. I left the car there for an hour and I was told it failed inspection because it needed brakes all around. I was never shown the brakes and I paid $21.00. I was told the price of new brake would be $320.00. I advised him that my brakes may be a little low but I was not going to pay $320.00 for new brakes the vehicle should pass inspection. He insulted me by saying "I see money is an issue." and tried to get me to apply for a Mavis credit card. The next question he asked was how much would you like to pay. I then realized that it was a scam. I waited an additional 1/2 hour and I paid $21.00 cash. Five minutes later I took the vehicle to an inspection station and asked if they could do an inspection. They inspected the vehicle. The vehicle passed with no issue and I was advised the brakes were a little low, but not enough to fail inspection. I have been a loyal customer of Mavis but my last few visits have not been favorable. I have heard the same complaints from several other customers. You must do better I hope this reaches someone in corporate that cares. I will never go to Mavis again.
