Malaysia-Fitness First review: Case of automatic payment fraud

I joined Fitness First 1 Mont Kiara in June 2024 and only trained for about 2 months. At the time, I clearly informed the manager that I would not continue my membership. He said “okay,” so I assumed it was cancelled.

One month later, I received another invoice. I even printed it out and went to the club in person to ask why I was still being charged. The staff told me “no problem,” so as a foreigner living in Malaysia, I trusted their words and left.

Later, I discovered that my credit card was still being charged RM610 every month for 13 months — almost RM8,000 in total. I never signed any renewal and I was never given a cancellation receipt. Now, they are asking me to provide proof of cancellation, which I never received in the first place.

The reason I didn’t notice the ongoing charges earlier is because Fitness First only allowed registration with a credit card. I had to use my husband’s Malaysian card, but since he is based in Korea, he had no chance to monitor this card. This makes the situation even more unfair and frustrating.

To me, this feels like Fitness First intentionally took advantage of a foreigner after my cancellation request. This experience has been extremely stressful and disappointing.

I hope Fitness First management takes responsibility for these unfair charges and resolves this issue quickly.
