I had a terrible experience with this ER doctor. She was rude, impatient, and completely lacking compassion. I came in with a fever of 39.2°C and a heart rate over 120, but she treated me like I was doing something wrong just for being there.
She told me to simply take Tylenol and Advil, and when my heart rate stayed high, she “offered” an IV and asked if I wanted it — as if that should be my decision instead of a medical call. When I asked if I could work the next day, she said yes without even asking what I do. I’m a labour worker, and anyone should know you can’t work like that with a fever near 40°C.
I told her I had just come back from Japan and that my friend there had Influenza A, which is very contagious. She replied, “We don’t have that type here in Canada.” — a careless and uninformed response.
After the IV, she asked how I felt. When I said I didn’t feel well, she couldn’t hear me, walked away to answer her phone for over 15 minutes, and came back acting like I wasn’t even there.
Overall, she was unprofessional, dismissive, and showed zero empathy. I left feeling worse emotionally than when I arrived physically. This kind of attitude has no place in healthcare — patients deserve to be treated with basic respect and compassion.
