In February 2009 my mother and I had sent our female 8 month old Australian Shepherd to a 2 week training program at the Little Wolf Doggy Day Spa and Resort. She charged over $800 for it. My dog came back trained and well behaved and we were very pleased. After a few weeks I began to notice that Suki (my dog) was gaining a lot of weight. One night I was laying on my couch rubbing her belly and I noticed that her nipples were beginning to swell and droop. We took her to the vet the next day, and to our surprise she was pregnant with 7 puppies. We were outraged, not only did we pay over $800 but my 8 MONTH old dog was pregnant. Little Wolf took absolutely no responsibility for it, she tried to convince us that this was a wonderful thing, and that it would calm Suki down. She would not reimburse us or even help pay for vet bills or the cost of a whelping box. We were livid. We had no plans on breeding her, We had an appointment to get her fixed in march. I had no idea that she would have her first heat while she was at training. My mother had filled out papers with Little Wolf before she had sent Suki to training. We assumed Little Wolf would be professional and keep the dogs that weren't spayed or neutered away from each other. But not only were they allowed to play together but she had apparently been leaving them together unsupervised (which was how Suki got pregnant).Little Wolf said that she had no idea that Suki had mated with a male, and had no idea who the father was. A few weeks after the first vet trip Suki went into labor and had 7 healthy puppies. Little Wolf came over to my house and supervised the delivery. When the puppies were 4 weeks old she pressured my mother into giving them to her for free. My mother was hesitant for a while because she knew that 4 weeks was way to early to let the puppies go. Little Wolf didn't give up and finally convinced my mother that the puppies were okay to go and that if they stayed with the mother any longer the puppies would just gain bad habits that would be hard to correct. She used excuses like "I am a retired vet, Ive birthed a ton of puppies, I know what is best". I was livid, I would not let her take all of the puppies, so she decided to only take the 2 biggest ones that day. 2 weeks later she came for 3 more. We planned on keeping 2 of the puppies but when the puppies were 9 weeks old, we decided that 2 puppies were too difficult. So my mother contacted Little Wolf to come pick up the last puppy because Little Wolf was apparently training the puppies to be special needs dogs and we felt like that would be for a good cause. Little Wolf had not kept Suki's training up while she was pregnant (like she planned to), and Suki relapsed and forgot all of her training. Little Wolf would not return our calls after we had given her 6 puppies and would not come train Suki. Suki now suffers from anxiety (caused by separating her from her puppies too early) and constantly barks, whines, and is paranoid. I would not recommend Little Wolf to anyone. Our experience with her forever changed our dog.

Thank you for posting on here, Kiliahbabe. Hope Suki is hanging in there. It's so weird that they didn't even bother to separate them. They must just have left dogs habitually unsupervised. It makes me a little sick. Dogs are family.
(PS- based on later comments it sounds like the puppies didn't even go to be service dogs, as was advertised to you?!)

There is absolutely no excuse for what happened. Taking people's dogs and leaving them unsupervised is irresponsible, dangerous, and has proved very damaging. And it's clearly not the first time it happened, based on Suki's story. Please, if you have any info or ideas, message me. Trying to find closure and can't even contact them to find out details about how our dog died.

Little Wolf is the reason our family's dog is dead. He was killed by a coyote in her care, while she was supposed to be watching him. She called ha to inform us while we were on a family vacation in between moving houses.

I am currently searching for contact information about these people, as it seems they have changed their phone numbers. Please, if you have any information or ideas as to how to find them, message me or comment on this post.

Here's a link to the post I made about what happened:

I also want to prevent anyone else from making the life altering mistake of leaving a pet in their care. What happened was horrible and I would never want anyone else to experience what we now have to live with.

Lost my dog Twinkle at her boarding facilities 4 years ago. While my family was moving houses we were also on vacation, and trusted our dogs' life with her for 3 weeks and I did not even get to see my dog Twinkle again because he was eaten by a coyote while staying at her facilities.

10'25'10:

Hi: We picked out one of the black puppies from Little Wolf. It was free but she checked us out before giving us the pup.

He is now over a year old and weights 60 pounds. He turned out to be one loveable great dog! We were so happty with him that a friend took the female black dog and they too love the dickens out of her. Suki must have been a good mother.

I do not know all the details about the complaint, but little wolf told us the exact story about the history of Hank as you stated.

Kiliahbabe, what part of the county are you from? I wonder if Hank would remember Suki?

If she tried to convince you that this was a wonderful thing, AND came back to get 4 week old puppies, sounds to me like they bred her on purpose. If they had her with other dogs they would have realized right away that she was in heat and should have removed her from the other dogs. If I were you I would never had let them near the puppies. I don't know if you could take any legal action because you allowed your unspayed dog to be there, but it might be worth looking into. I doubt they are training the puppies to be service dogs, if they were they first off wouldn't have bred her to a random dog and defanitly wouldn't have taken the pups at 4 weeks old. Maybe they are breeders or brokers or something? Their behavior was very unproffesional and I would be very upset too!
