I bought shutters in May . It took them 5 months to install, and then another 5 months passed and they put a lien on our house for no reason. The shutters were fully paid for when they were installed. Now, they're saying I have to do the work to fix it. They don't know who did it or why. I think they should just undo their mistake. I won't recommend this company anymore.

On May 11th, 2022, I gave them a $3000.00 deposit for 3 sliding glass doors. They said it would be *** weeks. After contacting them several times, they told me they had fraud in the company and I would have to get the doors from the supplier at *** supply com. I did ask *** for a full refund, but she declined. DO not DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

- Date of transaction: 09/21 - Money paid (so far): $4302.75 - J Howen said they gonna give me them shutters for 5 windows and a hurricane impact window. They finally put up them shutters (way too late), but I still ain't got my hurricane impact window yet. - J Howen keeps pushin' back my order, and it's almost been a whole year since I placed it. How much longer am I s'posed to wait for this dang thing? I got an open permit for it too. - This business ain't done nothin' extra to fix the problem. They keep blamin' their vendor, hardly talk to me, and don't do nothin' to help me out. - I'm attachin' all the order and contract info for ya.

I signed a contract on July 7, 2022 with this company to provide and install accordion shutters on my home. The company got a $2,500.00 deposit at this time. They said installation would take about 60 days. On August 31, the owner called me and said she was a victim of identity theft and fraud, and wanted to delay my install date. I told her I didn't feel comfortable with the situation and asked for my $2,500.00 deposit back. She texted me saying it wasn't necessary, she would finish the job. I didn't get any response about the installation or a refund. On Sept. 13, I emailed the company again, asking for a refund of my deposit. They still refuse to give back the money. On October 12, when I asked for a refund again, the owner told me she wouldn't give my money back and to file a small claims action. She also said, "She didn't think that would go very far" (good luck). She also said, "I am moving money around," which is a very suspicious comment.

I signed a contract in June 2022 with J Howen Doors and Shutters, Inc. for the installation of accordian shutters and hurricane glass windows. I paid $4930.00 as a down payment to start the contract, and they said the installation would happen in September or October. In October 2022, I got an email from the owner saying that their installation contractor had left and canceled all contracts with J Howen. They said my deposit is gone, permits were canceled, and orders were not placed. I called them myself to try and get my deposit back, but they said I couldn't and getting a lawyer might cost as much as the deposit I lost. They said they would call me next week to discuss installing just the accordians, but they never called back. If you check reviews on websites like Google and Yelp, you'll see others in the same situation as me. I'm an older person, and I've never dealt with a company like this before.

On 4/1, me and my wife signed a contract with J. Howen Windows for buyin' and puttin' in 7 hurricane windows, 3 impact doors, and 1 set of french doors. The whole cost for this was $14,980. We paid an initial deposit of $7,490 and the next $7,490 on the first day of puttin' in. Our contract said that delivery for these things would be 60 to 90 days from when permit was given. The permit was given 8/31 from the town of Jupiter. Puttin' in didn't start until 12/30. On the last day of puttin' in, January 6, 2022, we were told that one of the windows arrived damaged and they gotta order it again. They said it would happen within 90 days. 'Til now we ain't got this window. Since puttin' in, our front door that was put in by the company has proven to be put in wrong 'cause it's pullin' outta the frame and can't shut or open right. We called the company multiple times since January 2022 to fix this and get our missin' window put in. I heard many different excuses durin' these calls and they gave me appointments for the work to be done but no one showed up. I dunno what else to do to get this work finished. My last talk with *** at J Howen, I was promised by the end of September we would have our new window and door fixed. As of 10/9/22 no one has come back to finish the work.

On Feb 02, 2022, I signed an agreement with this company to replace 17 windows at my home, for impact windows. The total price is $16,454. Proposal # ***. The agreement was an initial payment of $5,484. Second payment for $5,484 once windows were delivered, and a final payment of $5,486 once the installation work has been completed. I made the first payment on Feb 02, 2022, and the estimated time for windows fabrication was about 4 months. After several calls and visits to their offices, from June to August 2022, and the personnel in charge informing different dates for installation, the owner called me explaining that the windows were already manufacturated, but they needed to pay their supplier and they were having financial troubles, so asked me to make the second payment. After checking up by myself that the city permit was going on and almost ready to be approved, on Sep. 01, 2022 I made the second payment. The owner immediately informed that installation date would be on the week of Sep. 19, 2022. Passed this week and all month without any call or excuses. On Oct. 9, 2022 the owner sent to me an email telling that they now have harder financial problems, so asking me to make the final payment directly to their supplier in order to the windows to be delivered, and promising the installation after that. This is unacceptable, and informed to the owner that I had already paid for the windows to be delivered. Today, Oct 11, 2022, I sent an email to the owner requiring the completion of the work to make the final payment as were originally agreed, or make the refund to me for $10,968. No positive answer after that.
