My husband and I leased a Genesis G70 in 12/21. We turned in the leased vehicle in 10/24. We were over miles and had mild rim rash to one rim. We owed them approximately $3500. We asked for an extension to make payment, and they gave us four months. Prior to the due date, they sent us a settlement statement that is we paid by a certain date we would only owe them $2800. We took that offer. We called and verified the information on the letter and where to send he payment via Western Union. We sent payment via WU with name and account number to Hyundai WU account. We have receipts from WU that confirmed Hyundai received payment and they payments are on our bank statement for 4/8/25.
Fast forward to 2/9/26, we get a notification from a credit bureau that a late payment has been posted. It was in the amount of $3500. During the 10 months after our payment, they have not sent us any letters, called us or reported us to any debt collectors. But then posted a negative credit report, this is illegal.
My husband has called them twice without resolution. The staff are rude and are not willing to assist in any way, they just ask for payment. We are currently starting the process to sue them for damaging our credit and causing disruptions in our life related to needing to buy a home. They basically said, you need to call to verify payment was received after sending via Western Union. No one stated that and there is NOTHING stating that in the letter describing how to pay via WU. So they will be getting a letter from our lawyer shortly.
Based on all these negative reviews, these people are absolute crooks and do not use their leasing/finance. We also had an overall horrible experience with Genesis and would never buy from them again.
