MICROMANAGE THEM.

I was so excited to find Hip Optical online, as I needed a new pair of bifocals. I placed an order for sunglasses on September 3rd, 2021, using the frame size etched into my current frames. However, my experience with this company has been nothing short of frustrating.

After selecting my frames online, I received a thank you message for my order, even though I hadn't added my prescription yet. I immediately contacted the company and was instructed on how to upload my prescription separately. Seven days later, I received a pair of glasses, but they were not sunglasses, the prescription was incorrect, and the frame size was way too big. I contacted the company, and they apologized and promised to make the order correctly if I sent them a different frame size, sunglass tint, and prescription, which I did.

However, when I received an email saying that I had exceeded their 30-day return policy, I was irritated. I called the company to sign up for the warranty and have the glasses replaced, but the customer service person told me that I couldn't buy the policy after purchasing the glasses. I complained in writing and threatened to leave a bad review, and they finally agreed to replace the glasses at no cost to me.

I requested a return label to send the incorrect lenses back, but they told me it was unnecessary and to let them know which frames and lenses I wanted. I confirmed the lens tint, but six weeks later, I still hadn't received my glasses. When I followed up, they told me that they hadn't been made because I didn't return the frames. I reminded them that we had already been through this and asked for a refund, but I haven't heard back from them.

To make matters worse, every correspondence from the company includes overly friendly comments like "be safe," which I find patronizing. Overall, I would not recommend purchasing from Hip Optical unless you have the patience to micromanage them.
