I recently received an email from Hellotend, a dental company, and decided to give them a call to inquire about their services. However, I was disappointed to find out that the email was misleading and the costs they quoted me were not accurate. They told me that my costs would be $350, which is more than what a Park Avenue dentist charges. I had to pressure them to give me a clear answer about the cost of an exam, which they were hesitant to do. It was frustrating to deal with them as they just wanted me to make an appointment without giving me clear information about the costs.

Moreover, they do not accept my insurance, which is another downside. I am not even sure how they got my email in the first place. It seems like they are just trying to get as many customers as possible without providing accurate information. I suspect that the glowing reviews they have on Yelp are fake, as my experience with them was not satisfactory.

Despite these issues, Hellotend does have some positive aspects. They claim that 80% of their out-of-network checkups are fully covered, just like in-network checkups. They also have a Tend Guarantee, which promises a full refund if the customer is not satisfied with their experience within six months. They have several convenient locations in New York City, including Wall Street, Chelsea, Williamsburg, and Flatiron.

Overall, my experience with Hellotend was not great. While they have some positive aspects, their lack of transparency and misleading information made me hesitant to trust them. I would recommend doing thorough research before choosing a dental company and not solely relying on their marketing tactics.

Bad experience. I chose this place 'cause I'm scared of dentists and needed work done. They say "no judgement ever" but that's a lie. I had tooth pain and called to make an appointment. They said 8:10am and I got there at 7:30am. Waited in the lobby 'til the receptionist came at 7:40am. She told me to leave and come back at 8am. I did what she said and came back at 8am. She told me to go outside and come back at 8:10am. I told her I was told 8am and my appointment was in 10 minutes. She checked and said my insurance wasn't accepted and I had to pay $200 to see the dentist. But the person on the phone said my insurance was covered. I showed her my new dental plan with the same insurance and asked to reschedule. She said they never heard of the dentist I wanted to see. They need to fix their policies. They'd charge me a cancellation fee if I arrived at 8:10am. When a white lady came in, they treated her better. People of color have the same complaints on Yelp. They need to be less discriminatory.

Went to NoHo Dental Inc. on 12/21 and gave them my Delta Dental cover, they said I was covered. They took my credit card for the booking but said they wouldn't charge me without asking. I also gave them my social security and my partner's. But then they said they didn't have our insurance, even though I gave them the details a bunch of times. Then they took $350 out of my bank account on 02/13 without asking. I didn't say they could take money out of my account, especially since my Delta Dental plan covered it. I tried to get a refund but their customer service is terrible. They won't let me talk to a manager and they keep saying they'll get back to me but they never do. After a week, I called Delta Dental and they said they paid Tend on 02/17 for $221. Tend took $350 without asking and they're also saying my partner owes $1300 when he doesn't. Luckily his bank stopped them from taking the money. I just want my money back so I can pay my bills and eat. Tend caused me a lot of stress.
