Greystone advertises that it's call center is open 24/7, however when I called them tonight to have an elderly friend's services restored, I received no answer. I called their main number as well as their power outage number at least 10 times. The phone just rang for 6-10 minutes per call. I started calling them at 6:30 pm. It is their policy to restore your power on the same day if the bill is paid before 8pm. I called for an hour and a half to get the services restored and got no answer. Normally, if call volumes are high, the phone is answered by an automated system and you will be placed on hold for the next available operator. This did not happen. I called again at 8pm on the dot. Surprisingly, someone answered the phone...just in time for them NOT to be able to send out a technician. I truly believe this was done on purpose. Now this elderly person is sitting at home all night in the dark, with no heat. The representative said that my call wasn't answered because they were very busy. Well, if you are very busy, why not have extra technicians working overtime for AT LEAST an hour to handle all of the backlogged service calls? I am very disappointed with Greystone. I have had bad experiences with them with my own service and I wish I could switch to another power company.

Totally agree. I wish there was something we could do about it. I absolutely do not like Greystone.

Be aware that after you cancel your service with Greystone, they will hold your deposit. One of there representatives advised me they have 45 days to refund the deposit. I consider that domestic terrorism by holding money hostage. After the account is closed, the power is turned off, you can not incur additional charges, there are no fees or service charges to be levied: what gives them the right to hold funds that does not belong to them? Thief by taking is a term that comes to my mind.

Their deposits are very high and the bill amounts have increased, not just because of the summer/winter change but it seem as though they are having us pay for their debt or write off bills. Every time I call, the estimated wait time is 15 minutes or more and I end up hanging up after 20 minutes due to no rep still available. It doesn't matter what time or day I call it's every time I call. I have never had this problem when I call a company. What happened to excellent customer service? Most people call while they are at work, since their hours changed, and we spend our whole lunch break on the phone holding for a rep. They need to stop being cheap and hire some more reps.

I am moving to Georgia in a week and research to see the electric company in the area I am moving to, and it is Greystone Power. They have asked for a deposit of over $390.00. That is outrageous! I have searched the Internet and the highest deposit I saw a couple post was $600.00! What in the world is going on in Georgia. A reasonable deposit up to $150.00 would be understandable. And, consumers have no choice if they live in an area that Georgia Power does not service. I understand they look at your credit, but, electricity is the main utility anyone uses, and that is one of the first, if not the first bill you pay after the mortgage. I bet you there is some money going into a/some politicians pockets to allow Greystone Power to charge very high deposit fees and the CEO of the company is sitting back grinning in his or her mansion.
