Vida Vacations Fraud against unaware tourist in mexico

********** If you are reading this post and have not signed a contract with them; don’t trust every word I say, but compare your sales pitch with what is written in our complaint, you will realize they used the same sales pattern with you. **********

Dear Complaint board members,

I am providing the following information for all you to know the real deal with the Mayan Group (Grand Luxxe, Mayan Palace, Premium International Vacations, Vida Vacation Club, and all other names they use to protect their assets from being subject due to their fraudulent activity.

We have several times expressed our dissatisfaction with the company due to misrepresentation at the time of purchase. We were sold unrealistic product qualities; plus the sales person used lies on several other items like the value of the membership. We were led to believe they were taking in consideration the value of our previously owned timeshares, when there is nothing showing the amounts discounted from the price; and after checking with other people, we realized we were given the same exact inflated price.

You will read below an email I received from Keely Daadas whom diminishes every action that was performed against us.

I am J, and she is KD for better understanding.

Email conversation starts here:

Dear Mrs. Swanson,

KD: I was not present on the day of purchase (for either contract) and so the only reference I have to go off is the legal contract that you and Mr. Swanson signed on the original purchase and then again for the upgrade 6 Months later.

KD: Upon signing both contracts you had the opportunity to sit down with a Verifications Representative and cover all of the negotiations discussed with your sales representative at the time of purchase. If there were specific reasons you purchased with VIDA, you had the opportunity to inquire more information at the point of sale. Your sales rep, like many in sales, will shine many of the benefits in its best light; however all of the benefits that were explained are actually possible.

KD: I am going to reference to the original email you wrote stating that you had been scammed:

J: Linda Spurlock gave us the pitch that they would help us eliminate our time share fees from the time shares we owned at the Royal Sands in Cancun and Village West in Iowa:

KD: Both properties were transferred as per the agreement, ultimately eliminating any further finacial obligation to either for Maintenance Fees. On 4/13/2012 you made the decision to buy back the properties.

J: They looked up the “worth”of our timeshares and said that they would give us $12, 500 for our Sunrise Cove timeshare in Iowa and $23, 100 for our Royal Sands Timeshare in Cancun. We were reluctant to trade in these timeshares but Linda assured us that with buying the Mayan Palace property we would be able to “trade” for numerous weeks in Iowa as the Cancun property was worth so much more in trade in value:

KD: Both properties were credited and deducted from original purchase price of CONTRACT CRNZ2262. With the paid in full Grand Luxxe contract it is in your best interest to use the weeks within your home Resort because of all the additional benefits you receive. If you do choose to exchange, Grand Luxxe is a luxury property and Registry Collection is one of the best exchange companies to be affiliated with.

J: She said that the beauty of buying into the Mayan Palace was that the only time we would have to pay the “maintenance fee” was if we decided to use our time share. If we didn’t want to use our weeks they would “sell” our weeks for us and give us the money:

KD: VIDA does not participate in the rental or resale of members weeks. This is made very clear on the verification statement, your contract and the list of affiliated companies that do. There are many ways to market your weeks independently or with the assistance of a broker or agency; ultimatley the decision to do so is at your own discression. For you speficially, there are no mandatory Maintenance Fees associated with the Grand Luxxe contract, so you are not obligated to pay the annual fees if your weeks do not rent for that year.

J: They said that every five years they would have a refurbishment fee but we could give up our weeks of time that year and that would cover this fee:

KD: There are no mandatory fees for the Grand Luxxe contract I proposed.

J: They emphasized that by buying into the Mayan Palace we would help our children who would inherit our timeshares by eliminating the maintenance fees for them and that they would receive the money from the resort if they decided to have the resort rent the weeks for them / We thought we were doing the right thing for our children by leaving our children with something that they wouldn’t have to pay for unless they wanted to use it:

KD: The proposed Grand Luxxe contract has 3 weeks (plus sunpack week) that your family would be able to use per year, these weeks are all pay upon use. In this day of social media marketing, your younger generation is very capable of profiting from your investment, given they have the drive to do the work. Rental by our company has been previouly addressed.

J: We signed the agreement. We still were under the understanding that everything we heard from the representatives as stated above was part of the contract. We didn’t realize that we had been had:

KD: All of the above is as mentioned in the Grand Luxxe Contract.

J: As you can see we were duped the two times we came across the sales people:

KD: If you had been “duped” the first time, one would think that you would be very clear about the legal contract that you were sigining for a second time. The contracts are not only to protect the consumer, but also our company. If anything other than what was written in the contract was promised or guaranteed, you had the opportunity to discuss it with a Member Service Representative at the time of verification.

KD: Mr. and Mrs. Swanson, I understand that the circumstances of your experience with Vida have been unpleasent, however we have worked very hard to come to an amicable solution. We have over 80, 000 Members within the VIDA group, many of which have owned with us since 1989 to present. We believe this is achieved by continually providing an outstanding product and lifetime of Member satisfaction. As per the contract, a refund outside of the 5 day recission is not an option. I have put in two special authorizations in order to get you the contract that you believed you were purchasing the first time. There are no further financial obligations associated with this contract. It is available for you and your family to use and enjoy for any future vacations with Grand Luxxe, or through any desired Resort exchanges.

I am available to discuss any additional information you may require. As I have previously stated, I work for corporate and this option is non negotiable. We can proceed with the Paid in full Grand Luxxe contract or with full cancellation of contract CXST0071. Please let me know how you wish to proceed.

Kind regards,

Keely Daadas

The resort itself seems very nice, the sales pitch, however, is pure high-pressure sales. The sales people are snakes, their only motive is greed. They have no concern for what is ethical and will “brow beat” you to make their money. It was not worth the free breakfast and $50.00 dinner coupon. When I finally got up to walk away from the table, Luis got in my face and began to argue with me, telling me I couldn’t leave until he said the presentation was over. I continued to walk away as I raised my voice at him. You would think that that would be the end of it, but they will continue to pass you to the next person for a “survey” which turns into another sales pitch…these people are shameless. If you agree to attend the 90 minute presentation you will regret it.Search online for Mayan Palace Timeshare Scams for other “horror stories”:
