I want to make a complaint about the security at the 2200 jane st food basics. I decided to not purchase anything and I was leaving the security gaurd (tall south african) stopped me at the exit and told me to open my napsack. This was embrassing to me as he found out I didnt steal anything. I would like to make sure something like this never happens again. This incident happened around 2:45-3:15 pm at 2200 jane street food basics

Desired outcome: please let this security gaurd know that he cannot just stop anyone and confiscate them

I've been in that situation regarding rogue security guards who act simply based on profiling rather than actually seeing the person act suspiciously...;
3 Things to do; First - contact Food Basics Head Office and ask them to fully investigate the incident as a prelude to you being put in touch with that store's head management so that they can satisfy you that their guards will be trained to act with better judgement and that the guard in your case will also be given a lecture on properly behaving while in service of Food Basics. You can make a complaint to the Ontarion Ministry of Solicitor General office and file a complaint against the guard - after getting their security guard permit license number from Food Basics. Lastly, you can also contact the security company to complain about the guard also - but with this option it's doubtful they even care to follow-up. I strongly urge you to take the actions above because you'll be making sure the guard is held fully accountable and won't act like a loose cannon by hassling other customers simply shopping for groceries while not acting suspiciously to warrant being bullied by a rogue store security guard; exercise your rights in other words - and you'll be helping Food Basics make sure customers have the best shopping experience; equals more sales for them.

Hey sorry I just seen this now . Thank you so much for your advice I really appreciate you taking the time. I have taken all the measures you have listed and to my surprise, they actually are looking into it. When I came back the following week to confront him, I bumped into his manager who came that day after I wrote the complaint and he said they are investigating it and he apologized to me. About a few weeks after the incident, they now have different security gaurds from different companies, so it looks as if they probably sent him to another post. I really am glad I dont see him anymore. This guy would always grill me for some reason and it would make me feel so unfomfortable. Anyways thanks again!
