Billed $9.99 to my visa that was not authorized and caused my account to run over and add an additional $64.00 in charges
now the company is refusing to even email me to fix the situation and i am out $73.99 and counting. There is no such thing as a free trial!

I totally agree! There is no such website... and the phone number has message choices that is barely audible...When you are finally able to understand the option to contact them at: (cancelme@emusic.com) There is no such address! Aren't there laws for this kind of CROOKED BUSINESS! ?

When I realized that most of the music that was available was not by the original artists I canceled my account. They just keep billing you. Don't ever get mixed up with them. It is not worth the hassle.

EMusic automatically, and without authorization, renewed my subscription and charged a fee for their service upon logging into my OLD acct to see their catalog selection on 9/20, at the prompt of one of their numerous e-mails as I had a credit of over 150 songs from various affiliates/vendors.
Upon seeing this, I immediately cancelled the acct., noting it as the reason for canceling when the automated system asked "why I was cancelling?", however they still charged my CC acct based on info from my old account record which reflected an expired CC#. I attempted to have the ($11.99) subscription charge reversed on 9/29, when it appeared on my credit card charges.
I called and spoke to their billing & customer service, but their agent* refused to refund the funds, saying he would reactivate the acct so I "could take advantage of the membership as it was set to expire 10/20 since I had already been charged. I have referred this to my credit card company (AMEX) for deliberation of a refund unless I hear otherwise, since I feel that their procedures are poor business practice.
For info, the number I called for customer support was [protected] and I did speak to a real person*, but don't hold your breath getting help as they seem to be instructed to decline any and all refunds!

Similar story to everyone else. I took the eMusic free trial 4 years ago, downloaded the free quota then cancelled and forgot all about it. I tried to get another free trial in December but was told my credit card was already registered on the site and I could not use it for a free trial. I left it there, I'd done nothing to suggest I wished to re-register and received no notification from eMusic.

Four months later I noticed the eMusic charge on my CC bill and attempted to cancel the account. I couldn't, I emailed and explained there must have been a mistake, why were they charging me, I did not want to re-register etc. I was told I was not eligible to receive a refund under the eMusic terms and conditions but the account would be cancelled. The account was not cancelled and they continued to charge me for two more months. More emails of complaint and I finally had my account closed and they were able to refund the charges made to my account AFTER I had been to it was cancelled.

The thing that stings me the most is I never downloaded anything from them in that entire four month period. I never received an email confirming the activation of the account or the cancellation and attempting to cancel through the site seems like the most pointless exercise imaginable.

Worst company ever.

I was also SCAMMED by emuSICK! These people need to be STOPPED! I suggest we all complain to the Internet Crimes Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov/ and also the FBI Internet Fraud Center at http://www.fbi.gov/majcases/fraud/internetschemes.htm

If we do not let the government know we are serious, they will not take serious action against emusic!

Do it for the principle and to STOP THESE THEIVES from hurting others!

THEY CAN RUIN YOUR CREDIT if you allow them...

FYI, you can find details of the actual steps to cancel your account online (their own FAQ is outdated and doesn't give the proper directions) as well as telephone numbers which other customers have successfully used to cancel their accounts.

I can't wait for Chase/sony to come after these people. I am so sick and tired of having to send an email to this dipstick to remove my name and credit card. I too am contacting the BBB to have them investigated.

This company better get a better grip on their accounting practices. Matter of fact, maybe the IRS would like to know what they are doing also!

I did call to stop any charges to my account which seems to have been totally ignored.

The last 8 digits of my debit card is [protected]. I would appreciate if you would stop charging my account. You owe me back $19.98. I also put in a dispute with my bank not to allow any more charges from your company.

Emusic.com is a huge RIP OFF. They sent me an email wanting me to come back to them. I opened the email and there was a message briefly dicussing the offer and a link that says "See Details." When I clicked on it, it automatically activated my account so I cancelled immediately. (this was in an email they sent to me about my account activity " Start: Jun 4, 2008 2:49:20 PM End: Jul 4, 2008 2:49:26 PM). However, I noticed that they charged me $9.99. I sent several emails to get a refund but they said that they couldn't because I agreed to the offer. When I explained to them that the offer was misleading because it only said "see details, " and I assumed that going there would just give me more details on the offer. They still said they can't refund me for having an active account for 6 seconds. All the emails appear to be form letters so I called the 800 number on my cc statement but it to was automated. THEY INTENTIONALLY SEND MISLEADING EMAILS, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY ARE A SCAM, DON'T USE THEM!

I cannot download your program on my computer, haven't even bought anything. But yet, youare still taking $9.99 from my account every month: STOP IT!
I wish to cancel my subscription now [protected] (card # 1018 is no longer valid)!

I canceled in mid Jan 08 and still getting billed here in April. C emailed them several time and eve told them I would get a lawyer if the kept billing me. I had to cancel my card and get another. I tried calling them only to be told by a machine that I should use email.
This thirty day free trial has cost me about 80 bucks now.

I wish I never heard the name emusic. "Rip off, scammer, liar, thief, crook, downright dishonest. I was not able to complete the registration process, so why have I been billed every month since December? When my first credit card was rejected, I tried a second one, which was rejected, then I tried my bankcard which was accepted. Guess what? I got billed $9.99 on all three cards. One of the cards is still being billed. I am now working with my credit card company to resolve this unfortunate mess.

Thank God Im not going crazy, cause I have been completely ripped OFF! This sorry [censored] website cant even offer me music if it were the last place on earth. I have been "so called", closing the account for over 3 months and you still continue to bill me this $9.99. If I see one more charge on my account, you will here from my attorney!

I have been billed by emusic since last october and never signed up for this account. I have tried several times since reviewing my credit card statements to have this account canceled. I was then informed by my credit card statement that i have been billed since october for this service. I finally had to contact the state attorney general office and then inform emusic that if this account was not closed the attorney general's office would take legal course.

Something should be done about this E-music scam. My granddaughter recieved a gift card with a MP3 player for Xmas. We proceeded to go to the website and joined. She couldn't download from my computer so her father said he would do it on his computer. Therfore I have been trying to cancel this charge since Dec. I'm really getting frustrated with the phone number and the so-called cancel e-mail. I sent one and it came back a week later. What's up with that? I think this is against the ethical rules of the web. They should be investigated. I'll go to my bank and put a stop to it this month. Ridiculous!f2f7b

On Friday I noticed a charge for $19.99 on my bank statement (which I rarely check because the particular account that was being billed is not my primary account). At first I thought someone had stolen my credit card info, after some digging I realized that the charge was associated with a free trial I had received with my new cingular phone last year. I had signed up for the free trial but was unable to download their music. I did not notice anything stating that I had to cancel or be billed, nor did emusic ever send out any emails or information regarding this supposed account. Emusic had been billing me $19.99 per month since May 2007 for an account that I didn't even know existed. What's worse, I am only allowed to dispute charges up to 60 days prior with my bank.

I am a member of a number of sites that bill automatically and I get an email from them every month advising of activity on my account/lack thereof. Emusic is undoubtedly aware that most consumers are unaware of this automatic upgrade and therefore fail to send any emails alerting the consumer of the existing account. I have tried to contact them repeatedly via phone to no avail. I am awaiting a response to an email I sent to them. I intend to report them to the better business bureau and possibly my state's attorney general. I will be certain to pay closer attention to my bank statement's from now on.

I want my money back and out of this crap. I tried to cancel before the trial date but was ignored. I'll cancel my card if it takes that to get out of this. This website has nothing that I want and it was suppose to be free for rhe first 50 downloads which trhere is nothing on the website that even remotely interests me.

Emusic has no ethics or integrity in dealing with what they deem " a service like cable you pay for whether you use it or not" I have not ever been so infuriated by a company whose answer to customer service is basically "too Bad"

They owe me over 9 months I did not use the service but sent a cancellation on.

I even have my music on their site and I want it off!

Never Again.

e-music includes 50 free downloads with mp3 players I bought for my two children for christmas they charged my account immediatley 14.99 and also two 1.00 charges on a 50 free downloads. I canceled my account yet my checking account wsa charged again in Jan. and again in Feb. Which in turn overdrafted my account, on top of all that when I cancled my accuont they erased my kids 50 free downloads when that was all I wanted in the first place.I contaced spi the mp3 player co. I was told my account would be credited that was in late Dec. or early Jan. I was never credited and they charged my account two more times to the tune of 9.99 each time plus overdraft fees someone needs to pay me back all of my money. Maybe if the attorney genral gets enough complaints emusic will be put out of their rip off buisness.

I have never used emusic however they have been charging me 9.99 for almost a year. I have called in before and canceled it however they are still charging me. They dont have a number where you can voice your complaints to a real rep. and all I keep getting is a directerly to a web site I cant find. I a very disappointed that this cannot be handed civily, but once I get a hold of a real representative it wont be handled civily trust me.

I am being billed as all of you are too, and just now have called repeatedly the [protected] number, and never had a chance at all to speak to a live person. I am very angry, and could only leave that message that way. I am disputing at my bank, which I suggest you all do, they do stop the billing immediately for things like this, and if you have a good bank they should do the same, hopefully either your bank or your credit card company should stop the billing as it is being disputed. Also, print out a page like this and use it for your credit card, or bank. This is total evidence of a corrupt company eating up our money each month.

I just called [protected]-2856and talked to a live person, told himto cancel. He gave me a confirmation # and assured me there would be no further charges. We'll see.
