Dr. Sydney Coleman, founder of Lipostructure has more than 50 complaints against him that have been filed with the DOH in NYC. This doctor has no business calling himself the founder of anything much less fat transfer. His fat grafts do not last at all and he harvests fat from areas without the patients' consent and leaves them with new problem areas. He took an oath to protect the patient, but he destroys their lives. He charges exuberant prices and you end up disfigured. Please do not go to him. You will be making the biggest mistake of your life. I made the mistake and have to live with the consequences daily. He has no conscience nor regard for his actions.

Buyer Beware!

Yes, four years ago, people would remark, OMG! You looki so young when I would tell my age. Now? I have been asked..."ARE YOU RETIRED?" OH! This one was the latest..."WAS THAT WHILE YOU WERE IN THE NURSING HOME?" And..."SIXTY?" Coleman's Logo...for me has been the complete opposite of what he promotes. Old to youthful? NOT! More like...youthful to old!

I saw a clip from a local newscast on lipostructure. The male doc -- who was operating at a MALL --- joked with the male news host: Oh no don't worry, it's nothing like a root canal."

You can say that again.

People like Sandy who are recommending Coleman must have some serious mental deficiencies.

Let me leave this: One Coleman patient has said, when she protested that she was not happy with COleman's work, "Well what can I tell you? I'm Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde."

So maybe Sandy whoever you are, you saw Dr. Jekyl. But there are many others who saw Mr. Hyde.

Dear corey

Yes the sunlight is the worst, and i avoid it like the plague. coleman takes his after pictures without shadows... unlike his before photos. I have so many grooves and lines in my face, you could play connect the dots. I too was taken by all the media, and was referred to him by a physician. What a joke. I have been to several doctors and they have all told me that i was one of the lucky ones, that they had seen much worse. The more people i speak to about coleman, the more horror stories i hear. Someone i met told me their mother had seen him, and she has never looked normal again. I too wish site was around before my surgery. And to the idiot that deems him as god because he teaches his technique... welcome to the real world, doctors "teach" their technique every day.. that means nothing. Actually, one doctor i saw for a revision was taught by him, and was horrified by my result.

Patient? How do you know for a fact? that most people have posted as an alias, unless of course you have personal access to Coleman's patient records. I am posted by my legal name at the time of mutilation in Coleman's dungeon. At the time of my surgery with him just four years ago, his office and surgical suite...was in a dumpy little lower floor of a building...the size of my living room. I made excuses for this "hell hole"...of a so called office. My first "RED FLAG!"

Unfortunately I was so swayed by publications, which I have since learned are often paid for by doctors...for self promotion. And magazines articles, written by money hungry journalists. My trust in the media, other than Internet Media, is pretty non-existant at this point. I would have been so grateful, if awesome postings such as these, were as popular as they are now. The public is "FED UP!"

Sandy Hanna. The comment..."Let The Games Begin" is not about silly and childish behavior. Heather is very serious about the "GAMES" Coleman has played with so many lives, leaving them destroyed or nearly so. She is referring to the fact, that the tides are turning...as Coleman victims are paving the way straight to jail for him...not the "Red Carpet" he has been accustomed to walking after promoting himself so effectively. It's not the patients promoting him, is sales pitches baby. Slimy sales pitches.

Sandy, we were well aware the pictures would never arrive. The intent was never there on your part. This was never about our wanting proof for ourselves, but about exposing that you do not exist as a satisfied patient. Thank you for revealing this for all. And Sandy, you do not sound like a happy camper to me...more like a Viper. Happy people do not speak to others with such venom, especially those who have suffered extreme trauma by intentional mutilation.

Heather, you are right...even if I thought perhaps...these were all lies..."Just In Case"...I would "NEVER-EVER-RISK-MYSELF-WITH-COLEMAN!" First step of justice served. Now onto the next step. Further exposing the horrible truths of Coleman. We have only just begun. Thanks all for helping with my pictures. Will be posting as soon as I select the most impact ones. They seem to be the ones in the sunlight, showing shadows so you can see all of the details. They will be here and also on the site warning about Coleman and his mutilating fat grafts.

No matter what any other "pleased" and worshipful patients (!?) like Sandy say, the doubt has been planted. That's the thing-- it's just a shadow of a doubt that can do enough to deter people from placing themselves in this doctor's hands.

Say whatever you want Sandy.

It's won't matter.

A lot of people are going to think twice. And if you have to think twice about a doc, you're not going to him.

sandy, you put yourself in a dangerous situation when you refer a person to a doctor, any doctor. what if someone listens to you, rather than those he harmed? what if the person that listens to you winds up disfigured? how would you live with that? oh i suppose you would do the same as coleman does...this board is intended to warm people of his bad work, and had i read it before my surgery, i would never have had him operate on me. why not start your own site, and leave this on be.

Sandy,

Just know that you do not have to prove anything to these to patients. You are happy and you are aloud to be. Please do not feel like you should have to send them your medical records to prove you are not Dr. Coleman. It is shame that in an open forum such as this, anyone who has someting to say that is not hateful about Dr. Coleman are all treated so unfairly. Most posters have posted with an alias to protect themselves from something. You should not allow anyone to make you feel like you need records with you name on them and photos of yourself to justify your results. Thank you for putting up with the ridicule and for posting.

Forget it Sandy Hanna. People are wise enough, to see your blatant disregard for those maimed by Coleman. If you believe for one moment... the general populous "WOULD TRUST YOU?" Think again!

To be so callous in your feelings, after seeing the graphic mutilations of Coleman victims? I am more apt to believe that you "ARE" Coleman.

By the way, name "ALL" those supposed doctors in Michigan? And at the same time, you might want to ask of yourself..."How Do All Of Those Corrupt Politicians Get Voted In?" HHMMM? Food for thought! "ANYONE" who might even for a nano-second...find you believable... are sharp enough to hear our cries of despair. They are "OBVIOUS WARNING CALLS!"

I have been a patient with Dr coleman for 7 years now, if anyone wants to see my before and after pics please contact me, He is incredible! wonderful!..and again DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS PERSON TELLING YOU THIS!..In any industry u will always get a unhappy person, no matter what! Doctors in michigan all think he is the best! when i was there last year, he had a doctor fly in from france to learn, now let me ask you this question, IF doctor coleman was such a bad doctor why would all these doctors have so much respect for him? He is a great doctor, i am so happy, i am 38 and people think i am 28..again NO one will ever touch my face but this doctor, I look very natural, no one can even guess i did anything at all! my gfs tell me i look better now than when i was in my 20's..whoever is considering having anything done with Dr coleman, i would say GO for it, he is really the greatest doctor ever, Thank you:)

I was mutilated and deformed by Richard Ellenbogen of Beverly Hills Body. I believe that many plastic surgeons are greedy, unethical, skilless sociopaths who enjoy ruining people's bodies' faces and lives.
It's just a disgrace that America has such low standards for doctors.

Heather, These patients with "great experiences"...have not thanked anyone here...for having endured the experiments Coleman did on everyone... to gain the experience to make them look so fine. Ingrates I say, self-centered ingrates.

Let it go, forget them. Personally? if I were to have read such horrific testimonials on Coleman...even if I felt pleased with my own results? I would step back and stay out of it. I would never meddle in this mess. There is something amiss here. The devotion is a little twisted...considering there are pictures posted...of Coleman mutilations.

Not to worry, the average reader gets it...and "The Coleman Devotees" do not get it...that everyone gets it, nor does Coleman. It's like a sadistic little tea cup doggie, going after a German Shepard under sedation and too stupid to know...he is now out matched...because the Shepard has come out of being anesthetized and gained the strength to stand up and defend itself.

Heather, you are brilliant...in mind and heart! :)

Ms. Morgan,

It is obvious you are an angry person, I was an angry person as well. Controlling my anger is something that I constantly have to work on. I can honestly say that if you were to study the way of Buddha and make a conscious effort to control your anger, you will find inner-peace. It is hard at first, but it really works.

Am I proud to that my old-self wanted to tape up some one's mouth? Not at all. That was my old self and I can not change the past -but I can be living in the present and working on reshaping my future.

The offer still stands. I have done work for CBS, I still have contacts there and I can find out the reason why your piece did not air.

Dear Ms. Morgan,

I did not post on this complaint board to ridicule you, only to offer a solution to your problem. So yes you are right, I did have an agenda in my previous posting and it was to offer a solution to your problem. I do not think you should ignore the problem, but you should try to find a constructive solution to your problem that does not focus on negativity.

I would like to ask if you would please refrain from mocking my writing abilities or on my judgement of other people's character. Remember, people reading these posts are judging you. Your hateful statements directed at other posters diminish your character in everyone's eyes.

You sound hateful, may I suggest taking up Buddhism? I started taking classes in Buddhism a few months after I had my second consult with Dr. Coleman. They have made me a much better person. Today, I focus on finding constructive solutions to problems that do not utilize negative energy. Please try not to dwell on your negative energy or negative thoughts. I promise that negativity will consume you and ruin your life -I have seen it happen too many times. I have seen people loose their marriages (like myself) because they had too much negativity in their thoughts, actions and emotions.

I have worked with CBS and have friends that still work there. I will find out why CBS would not show your interview. In the meantime, look into Buddhism.

From reading the previous entries as well as the title of this website, I realize that this is a complaint board. However, I have some wonderful things to say about Dr. Coleman. Before I begin I will say that I know how angry some of you feel because I also did not like Dr. Coleman for quite sometime. I felt like I overpaid for the work that he did on me and I felt like he made me look swollen. It was not until I went back to Dr. Coleman’s office eight months after my operation for my second set of pictures that I realized that he had done an amazing job on my face. I will say this again, it was not until I went back to Dr. Coleman’s office eight months after my operation for my second set of pictures that I realized that he had done an AMAZING JOB on my face!
Honestly, I felt like crap afterwards for hating him and wanting bad things to happen to him. I cannot put to words how much I hated him. I hope that these kind words will make up for any negative energy that I threw his way (I need as much good karma as possible), this is the least I can do. Before I share my story I will let you know that I have not been paid by Dr. Coleman to write positive things about him nor will I get free or reduced surgery from him in the future. I will definitely be getting more surgery from him and have referred him to my mother (who had her hands done), my sister (who had her breasts corrected) and my best friend, who told me about this complaint board. The name I am using is not my real name but what I am telling you is the absolute truth.
I am a 47 year-old male living in Marin County. Two years ago (after a messy divorce) I decided I wanted to do something about the bags underneath my eyes. I wanted to start dating again and I wanted to look my best to attract attractive women. I looked like I was 55 years old. I went to three different plastic surgeons in the Bay area and the third, Dr. Tim Miller, referred me to Dr. Coleman. He had recently seen Dr. Coleman speak at a conference and was impressed with what he had to say and liked his before and after photos. He said that you shouldn’t cut the bags out of the face, but inject fat around them. He met a plastic surgeon and his wife at the same conference that had absolutely amazing work done on them by Dr. Coleman and that I should think about seeing Dr. Coleman. So I went to his office in New York City.
I was amazed with the before and after photos (and looked at them close up to see if they were the real deal). Other that the light and color being matched up on the photos, I am absolutely certain no other thing had been used to doctor the photos (I should know, I do computer animation for the motion picture industry). I met with Dr. Coleman and he assessed my face. I found out that the area above my eye lids also needed to be filled in and that I needed some filling in my jaw and smile line area. The amount he was going to charge was a lot ($45, 000) and they dropped off some money. I thought about the price over the next week and thought about the prices that the other doctor’s had quoted. I figured that if I could spend $76, 000 on a car, $41, 000 on my face is no big deal. Hey, it is my face and I might as well get one of the best plastic surgeons in the world to make it better since I was going to live with it the rest of my life.
I had the surgery done and when they took off the bandages a few days later, I looked very bad. The people in the office had told me that I was going to look bad, but I didn’t think that I was going to look like someone had beaten me up like that. I looked like I was in a bad fight, got into a car wreck and had and allergic reaction.
Luckily, I was able to do the bulk of my office work at my house over the next few months, but I still had to go into work periodically for meetings. I felt very self-conscious because the first day back at the office a number of colleges stopped me and asked what had happened. I told them that I had an allergic reaction to some medication and it was taking a while for the swelling to go down. Again, I felt very self-conscious. Every time I looked in the mirror all I could focus on was the swelling. In hindsight, I was obsessing too much about what I looked like. I think it would have probably been better to have put sheets over all of the mirrors in the house so I wouldn't look at my face.

I wanted to start going on dates, but I couldn’t because felt I looked freaky. After a while I figured out that I did not look as bad if I wore my ski sunglasses, so I wore them all the time when I was out in public, even at night. I became really upset after 6 months because I still felt like I was freaky (actually I was fine). I will say that I accomplished an incredible amount of work the first 6 months. One good thing to come out of this was that I got a major bonus out of spending all that time working from home and not going out as much. But I was not going on too many dates, which was the whole reason for me getting the plastic surgery done in the first place!

At month 8, I had had enough. I was going to Connecticut to visit my parents, so I decided that I was going to drop by Dr. Coleman’s office and see what he could do to fix my swelling, and on his dime. I called the office and made the appointment. I went into the office in the morning and they said that I had to get a second set of pictures taken. I was really mad because I was going to have to wait, but I was a little happy that the fallow up visit and the pictures were free. While waiting in the waiting room I was getting angrier and angrier. The office patient care woman, Peri, drove me crazy with her whiney voice and I really wanted to put some duct tape on her mouth to make her quiet (I recently found out Peri is not working there any more thank God). Luckily, I didn’t have to tape up Peri’s mouth and I met with Dr. Coleman to go over the photos. He showed me the before and after pictures and he explained what he had done to my face and abdomen (where he took out the fat). It was absolutely amazing. I could totally see how he made me better looking. The only thing I can think as to the reason why I even thought the way I did was that I forgot the way that I used to look –right before the surgery. I think that when I was really swollen, I just started focusing on that I was swollen. He showed me close ups of my face and I have to say he has made my skin younger. I look more like the way I was in my 20’s now, than I did when I was in my mid 30’s!

For those of you reading this posting that are unhappy, I would suggest going back to Dr. Coleman’s office, getting your pictures taken and sitting down with Dr. Coleman to look over the pictures. I am certain that if he made an error he would step up to the plate and fix the mistakes that he made. He has integrity and I know this because I am an excellent judge of character. For those of you considering plastic surgery from Dr. Coleman, make sure that you go back for follow up pictures, I can almost guarantee you will be happy with the results when you see those before and after pictures.

PS. I just called the NY State Department of Health and checked the website. Dr. Coleman has no reported violations.

If anyone has info and experience with removing large lumpy areas of fat (under and above the eyes), please advise of doctor and technique used. Mesotherapy is a bit too risky there. Is there a way to get an image of the area to see exactly where the fat is. If I were to have my eyes "done" would the fat coleman put in be where the surgeon would expect it to be? Really need to get it out, so advise, opinions, and experiences are appreciated.

In the future, I will list as COLEMAN VICTIM #2. Jenny on Masturbation? There now appears to be..."another Jenny?" In addition to the second April Smith? Now Jenny...who I wonder if you are either...Coleman or a Coleman advocate...and more...why the discussion on masturbation? Is this to trauma further...by reminding us that this is the only option left, now that we are too disfigured to get a date? Not to worry, when you are finally locked away in prison...there will "not" be a need for your own masturbation...as I expect you will have many dates. You are beyond any form of rehabilitation.

It seems pretty clear that Coleman or his lawyers are posting testimonials from his website. This only gives grist for the mill, in the sense that it's obvious Sydney is scared.

Second, regardless of how many procedures are alleged to have "satisfied" customers, the fact that Sydney has in MANY cases disfigured patients. No matter how many anonymous testimonials someone pastes here from Sydney's site, that does not change. In other words, there is no mitigating factor here.

There IS instead what looks to be a coverup by the NYS Dept of health, a coverup by CBS, namely, a Mr. Rosenfeld, and the passive conspiracy and culpability of the plastic surgery community -- the wealthy plastic surgery community.

I wouldn't freak about Syd posting a few testimonials here. They don't change anything about criminal behavior.

Masturbation gives women the opportunity to explore their body while at the same time giving them a high degree of sexual freedom. It allows women the opportunity to experience sexual pleasure without relying on a partner and to release sexual tension when "they" choose to. Masturbation can be very empowering for women, as it gives them increased control over their body and sexuality. Masturbation is a great teaching tool, it teaches women about their body, how it responds to sexual stimulation. For many normal and healthy women masturbation is their primary or only means of experiencing orgasm. Many women experience their most intense orgasms while masturbating, because they can provide the ideal mental and physical stimulation they require without worrying about the wants of their partner. Masturbation is extremely beneficial to women throughout their life, from infancy to maturity. While a woman will not always have a sexual partner she will always have herself.

Why Learning Early in Life is Important

Masturbation is the first and most import sexual skill a girl or woman should learn as it frequently holds the key to enjoying other forms of sexual activity. Ideally, this skill is learned prior to puberty but far too often it is not learned until a women is in her late teens, early twenties, or later. The reason it should be learned, or at least known about, prior to puberty is so teens have a constructive means of addressing their developing sex drive. It also increases their awareness of their ever-changing body, and provides some sense of control over it. If a teen knows how to masturbate she is less likely to be compelled to seek out a sexual partner before she is emotionally and physically ready; while girls start menstruating between the ages of ten and fourteen their body is not truly prepared for pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing until late in their teens. Masturbation provides young women with an option other than sexual frustration or sex with a partner.

Learning to masturbate to orgasm at an early age is often easier than later in life when we have learned social mores and expectations that frequently create barriers to sexual pleasure and orgasm. As we get older and become educated we tend to think about things too much. It is often better to learn to masturbate and potentially experience orgasm prior to knowing what you are doing and how others view those activities. Things teens and women have learned and experienced may cause orgasmic impairment. When masturbation is learned early in life girls often continue to even if they feel guilty or fear being punished, because of the pleasure and relaxation it brings them. Innocence and naivety does have its benefits.

How Do Women and Girls Masturbate?

Women and girls masturbate in an endless list of ways. They may massage their clitoris with hands and fingers or rub their vulva up against pillows, bed cloths, stuffed animals, and furniture. Some use water spray, vibrators, and dildos to stimulate their vulva or vagina. The vagina appears to play a limited role in the masturbation practices of women, but vaginal insertion is by no means rare or unusual. When vaginal stimulation is used it is often used in conjunction with clitoral stimulation. Some women employ nipple and/or anal stimulation in addition to clitoral and vaginal stimulation. Fantasy often plays a major role in a woman's masturbation activities. The brain is the largest and most important sexual organ and as a result physical stimulation alone is frequently not sufficient to trigger orgasm.

The Right Way?

It is important to understand there is no "correct" or "right" way to masturbate. Some women feel they should be able to masturbate to orgasm using a different or more correct method because they hear other women do it that way. It is important to keep in mind that each woman's anatomy is a little different and her psychological makeup is a lot different. This results in every woman masturbating differently, even if they use the same basic technique.

While many women can masturbate to orgasm employing several different techniques others find they can reach orgasm only when they use the same method each time. There is nothing wrong with this. Partly because of conditioning and partly because of differences in woman's bodies learning new techniques can be difficult or even impossible. If you are orgasmic with your current masturbation technique feel free to experiment but do not feel you have to reach orgasm in other ways too. Remember, masturbation should be fun and enjoyable no matter how you do it.

Masturbation can be defined as self-stimulation to cause sexual sensations. The use of the word masturbation usually suggests that the person is manipulating his or her genitals to the point of intense pleasure or orgasm. (Orgasm refers to a period of intense excitement in which genital muscles enter in to a series of highly pleasurable contractions or movements.)
While masturbation can involve another person, most of us think of it as a very private act. According to some health care providers masturbation allows a healthy way to express and explore your sexuality and to release sexual tension without all the associated risks of sexual intercourse. Health professionals generally agree that this private touching is a natural, normal mode of self-exploration and sexual expression. Unfortunately, after the excitement of the moment has passed, many people find themselves filled with guilty and or shame.

Why all this guilt and shame? Actually, from American History

A little bit of American history:
Our attitudes about masturbation have deep roots for sure. Around the turn-of-the-century, some adults were so against masturbation that they forced their daughters to wear gloves made of a steel-wool-like material (like Brillo pads) at night and to put a powder on their genitals that made them painful to touch. They made their sons wear metal chastity belts at night that made it painful to have an erection. During the 1820s, some parents prevented male masturbation by piecing the foreskin with a wire and soldering the ends together. Boys and girls were discouraged from masturbation by the threat of blindness, madness and illness. Of course, none of these masturbation-induced maladies proved true.

The subject of masturbation was taboo years before the United States was created. All kinds of chastity belts and other devices were used to prevent masturbation, probably as far back in history as you can go. This will vary from culture to culture.

It appears we have two "April Smith's" here. The woman who created this post alerting others to the dangers of Coleman and now we have an April Smith..."no relation" to the originator of this post... but an advocate of Coleman. Beware folks. Another Coleman "Con Job!" If you will note, the "REAL" April Smith asks... "IS THIS A JOKE?"

I had fat added to the sides of my nose by Coleman... "WTHOUT MY PERMISSION!" One side looked like a big lump and the other side was smaller... an obvious failed experiment to give fullness to it. Whatever for... it looked fine?

Older patients and younger patients object to the expressions that seem to be painted in the fold and lines on their faces. The nasal labial folds and marionette grooves convey powerful emotions. Aging can generate negative and fixed changes in facial expression. As the face ages, it loses its fullness associated with youth. As the skin around the mouth loses its fullness, the unsupported skin sinks into fold, wrinkles, and creases. As these folds become more pronounced, unintentional emotional expressions can become fixed on the face. It has been Dr. Coleman's experience, that with structural fat grafting, he can soften the nasal labial folds back to a younger state. What Dr. Coleman studies from the patients old photographs, is not the existence of the folds, but their depth and prominence and how they affect and alter ones facial expression. The key to the fat grafting to the nasal labial folds and marionette grooves is in the placement over an area to add support to the facial structures. At no point is fat intentionally grafted in only a single crease.

LipoStructure to the cheek and lower eyelid can restore fullness, soften wrinkles and crow’s feet, decreases pore size and lighten lower eyelid darkness. A further indication for fat grafting to the cheeks is adjustment of facial proportions. This is most often seen in a younger person who desires more angular cheeks, but it can also be someone who has atrophy associated with acne scarring or aging. This technique can also be useful for disguising obvious silicone implants, minimizing the appearance of bulging eyes, correction of facial lypodystrophy and congenital deformities.

A full, taunt neck is one of the signs of youth and beauty. With age subdermal fullness disappears and the skin texture gradually deteriorates, leaving behind unsupported, crepy skin. When structural fullness is added to the neck, it provides underlying support to the skin to restore a more youthfull fullness. Recontouring of the neck with structural fat can provide further enhancement by disguising prominent neck cartilages.

The primary indications for lip augmentation are aging and a patient’s desire for an adjustment of facial proportion. As a person ages, the lips lose their fullness. The goal of lip augmentation is to create attractive, pouty lips. By using Dr. Coleman’s technique of fat grafting, he is able to increase the surface area of the lip. The changes that occur with the aging of the lower lip are dramatic. Along with the decrease in volume of the lower lip, wrinkling of the upper lip is almost always much worse. Restoring lip fullness through structural fat grafting will result in a return of a more youthful appearance. Dr. Coleman has a specific technique that acknowledges that the lip has definite contours that must be respected and enhanced in order to produce an aesthetically appealing change. Dr. Coleman uses fat grafting to achieve the proper shape and volume.

i think it is hard to track all of the unhappy patients, as most of them travel long distances for their surgery. i do not know anything about anyone, legal or personl. i can only speak from my personal experience. sydney's work should be closley regulated. i wonder about the inconsisitencies of his work, as they seem to be really great (from what patient testimonies say) or rather disfiguring. there seems to be too many greys in sydneys outcomes. i'd say with a record like that, his flame and fame will burn out. and that will be good.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS LISTED HERE, AS I HAVE MET WITH THE FAMED SYDNEY COLEMAN. I REFUSE TO CALL HIM DR. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS HAD SUCCESS WITH REMOVING EXCESS FAT, AN IF SO, WHO DID THE PROCEDURE. ARE THERE PHOTOS OF SYDNEYS PATIENTS ON THE INTERNET AT THIS TIME, OR WERE YOU FORCED TO REMOVE THEM?

LipoStructure®: The Ideal Filler

Dr. Sydney Coleman of New York City is the inventor of LipoStructure®: a revolutionary technique that uses your own body fat as a natural, living filler to achieve precise structural alterations wherever it is placed. After performing LipoStructure® almost three thousand times in the last 17 years with consistent results, Dr. Coleman feels that it is safe, adaptable, undetectable and has every indication of permanence.

THE SEARCH FOR A FILLER

For over a century, surgeons have searched with little success for a filler to restructure the face and body. Physicians have used a bizarre assortment of foreign substances including gold, silver, paraffin, sponge rubber, silk, gutta-percha, and ivory; and more recently, silicone, collagen and Goretex. Despite well publicized complications, some of these remain in common use because we have not found a more suitable filler. With LipoStructure®, we can now use the patient's own fat to alter the structure of the face and body.

THE TECHNIQUE OF LIPOSTRUCTURE®

To ensure lasting changes, the transplanted fat must be able to survive in its new environment. With LipoStructure®, body fat is gently harvested, refined with minimal handling, and painstakingly layered into minuscule strands. The method isolates each bit of fat within the surrounding muscle, skin, bone, cartilage or connective tissue. This specific layering method creates a large surface area of contact with the augmented area. This ensures that nutrition can be exchanged through capillaries in the enveloping tissue. This is essential for the fat to survive.

LIPOSTRUCTURE® CREATES STRUCTURAL CHANGE

Dr. Coleman has discovered that by placement at different layers or by using different "weaving" techniques, he can manipulate the tissues to change structures. He can flip out a lip to show more of the pink, push up a sagging buttock or support a drooping eyelid. Using this method Dr. Coleman sculpts the tissues of the face and body to create more angular cheeks, healthier eyes, a stronger jawline or more voluptuous lips.

LIPOSTRUCTURE® DOES NOT FEEL LIKE FAT

After the fatty tissue is placed by the LipoStructure® method, it no longer feels or looks like fat, but feels and looks like the enveloping tissues. For transplanted fat to feel like fat, the pieces of fat must touch each other. However, with LipoStructure® each bit of fat is surrounded by muscle, skin, cartilage or bone. For this reason, the area does not feel fatter, but assumes the texture of the surrounding tissues. Even the most dramatic changes in size or structure are so natural to touch and visual examination that they remain undetectable without memories or photographs with which to compare.

LIPOSTRUCTURE® IS STRUCTURE

In summary, the "structure" in LipoStructure® refers to two concepts. First, the fatty tissues can be placed or woven in such a fashion to create architectural or structural changes in the face or body. Additionally, the newly placed fat assumes the structural qualities of the tissues around which it is placed. After a century of searching, LipoStructure® at last provides physicians with a safe, long-lasting structural filler for altering facial and body contours.

LipoStructure®: A More Natural Aesthetic

The main reasons for adding structure to the face are to replace atrophied tissues and to enhance facial elements or proportion. The common goal of both of these indications is to create a more harmonious and aesthetically appealing proportion of the face.

AUGMENTATION & REJUVENATION

As we age, our faces become smaller. The skin and bone remains the same size, but the cheeks, chin, jaw, forehead, etc. decrease in size. The fat, muscle and connective tissues atrophy or waste away, leaving behind unsupported skin. As the support underlying the skin disappears, the skin falls into wrinkles and folds. As the cheek becomes smaller, bags under the eyes become more prominent. As the jawline and chin loose their prominence, jowls appear. As the youthful fullness of the brow and upper eyelid dissipates, an empty sack of skin is left behind.

Since shrinkage of the subcutaneous tissues is the primary manifestation of aging, replacement of the atrophied tissue by restoring structure is an obvious method of rejuvenation. Diffusely augmenting the structure of the forehead, cheeks, mouth, chin and jawline restores the fullness of youth.

Traditional plastic surgery has identified the signs of aging - wrinkles, bags, jowls and folds. Most cosmetic surgeries have tried to remove these signs of aging. Unfortunately, they do not take into account how people looked when they are younger. Therefore, the end result of a facelift or eye tuck is that although the person may be tighter, they do not look like they did when they were young. With few exceptions, traditional plastic surgery revolves around a single solution to the challenges of augmentation and rejuvenation - cutting away fat, skin or muscle. Instead of tightening and shortening by excision of unsupported skin, Dr. Coleman uses LipoStructure® to infiltrate the face and body with a living filler, correcting asymmetry and restoring the fullness of youth, naturally and subtly. Removing wrinkles does not necessarily create the youth. Replacing fullness to a face restores youth.

CORRECTION OF ACNE SCARRING

Aging and acne both erode the structures under the skin to leave behind an emptier sack of skin which is suitable to filling and restructuring with LipoStructure®. The years of smoldering infections and abscesses associated with acne destroy the normal supporting elements under the skin. The resulting acne scarring of the skin is merely the "tip of the iceberg." The subcutaneous structures devastated by chronic acne must be restored to enact a healthy appearance to these ravaged faces. Acne scarring treated by only altering the skin is incompletely treated. Restructuring immediately under the skin restores texture to the skin. As important, replacing the volume of tissue loss in the forehead, cheeks, jawline and chin due to chronic acne can restore a normal proportion of the face.

FACIAL PROPORTION

Even normal facial structures can be aided by LipoStructure®. A stronger jawline creates a healthier, more powerful face. Eliminating the tear trough deformity and hollowness of lower eyelids eliminate the tired, sad appearance. Softening the frown lines between the eyebrows can make a person look less anxious or angry. Filling irregularities can strengthen and straighten a nose. Voluptuous lips give a healthier, sexier appearance. Enhancement with LipoStructure® of specific facial elements can refine overall facial harmony and proportion.
