I purchased six bags of popcorn for $50 through Double Good's fundraiser program to support my niece's soccer team. My husband and I are committed to supporting charitable causes, but we cannot recommend this product. The popcorn was stale, and I discovered foreign debris…. specifically corn kernel pieces… in multiple bags, including the white cheddar and buttery varieties. This indicates a serious quality control problem that is unacceptable.
Beyond the quality issues, the value proposition is problematic. These six small bags are worth approximately $12 retail, even accounting for shipping costs. While Double Good donates 50% of the purchase price to the fundraiser ($25 in this case), that $25 far exceeds the actual product value of roughly $12. This means my husband and I paid double the retail price for subpar popcorn, and only the portion that covers the actual product cost genuinely benefits the soccer team. The remaining funds are inflated pricing.
For a $50 donation, there are better ways to support a fundraiser. The combination of poor product quality, stale taste, contamination issues, and inflated pricing makes this a difficult choice. I cannot recommend Double Good's popcorn fundraiser to others.
