After being forced into bankruptcy due to medical bills, our city utilities company, decided to close out our account, use our deposit to do this and open a new account and ask for a very large deposit to be able to keep our utilities on, all this was done with out notice or a phone call or warning of any kind on our behalf, I found out by getting on line to pay regular bill like always and notice a final bill had been made and our deposit had been used to clear the amount owed, then I called they told me what they had done, then on top of that the rest of the deposit they used that should of been sent to us as a refund, was kept and just added to the other deposit they are requesting from us, causing us alot of stress and grief on how they could expect such a large amount of money from us with no warning or notice or anything, the deposit that they ask was 3 times the amount of any one utilitie bill it would take us 3 months of utilities to even use up such a deposit. I wish there was someone that would stand up for us poor folks when something like this happens.

100% true. The dis something similar to me. I didnt file bankrupt though..I merely divorced my cheating ex. C.U removed him from our utility bill without telling me..then put him on her utilities. He does not pay support for his kids like he is supposed to..but they thought I could handle it when they demanded I give them a $750 deposit with my bills..or be shut off. I think we used to have a $200 one. I was basicly punished by C.U for being a newly single Mom who's life got destroyed. Guess they wanted me to know that C.U is supportive of Bad Men..not the Single Moms who put them in the situation.
