Santander Consumer USA refund/overpayment

Bought my 2006 dodge van from a dealership, the fianace was origanally through sovereign bank until santander took over. About 3 weeks ago we paid off our van, with the help of a finanical company. We had made an overpayment to santander, money should be returned to finanical company or us, to me it does not matter. Called santander 2 times so far 1st time they had no clue when it was going to be returned. 2nd time they said oh it could be by the end of the month, meaning sept.30 but they couldn't say for sure. How come it is okay for them to charge us for being a liitle late with our payments (which I was never) but when they have to return our money they have all the time in the world. Thats if they return it at all! Santander should pay us all interest for holding our money hostage! Free my money!

Santander Consumer USA sovereign stealing my money

I recall I rejct to sign up for the sovereign id protector months ago. But then I found that it is continuously charging my account for 12.99/month without my authorization.
I have not use my sovereign account for months. I kept my balance at a low level since I knew I am not using them.
So after 8/22/2011 my account was charged 12.99, thus making my account overdraft.
And sovereign bank charged me $35 for overdraft fee and $5 per extra day.

So basically its like
1. I was signed up for the "sovereign id protector" automatically and was charged $12.99/months without my authorization
2. The "sovereign id protector" causes my account to overdraft since I was not using my sovereign account for months and I was keeping a nearzero balance for my account.
3. I receive ridiculous overdraft fees ($35 + $5 per day which is around $7x by today) and I was not informed

Santander Consumer USA poor customer service

I had a car accident over four months ago. Geico sent me a check with my name and santanders on it. I cannot get santander to endorse the check and have the person I chose do the work. The man I was going to use was a good friend and was going to do all the work as long as I bought the parts. They want me to pay a shop because they dont trust the work will get done correctly? I pay for the car every month but they say its there property untill its paid off? So I guess if its there property they should pay for the tires gas and brakes too right? I dont get it I pay my car and I pay my insurance but I cant have my money to fix it the way I choose? What a scam I feel like leaving the check in the car and telling them to come pick up there car! I mean its not mine right? The last person I talked to told me it was against the law for them to endorse the check and let me do what I want with it? When a tree fell on my house my home owners insurance and bank who I pay for the house stated I could fix it any way I wanted as long as it got fixed. They told me after I got it fixed that the person did a better job and I got way more for my money then they could belive. Why can my home insurance and my bank take care of me but santander could care less? Also if my payment is one day late the phone never stops ringing why is it okay to take my money but not give me my money owed to me?

Santander Consumer USA have an excellent day and may the bbb shut you down

Santander just called me telling me they want the car or I have to pay right now they then told me that they can garnish my wages if you google it you will see is what I was told so I did 41. South carolina wage garnishment

Wage attachment is prohibited in south carolina. Sccla 37-5-104.

Wow looks like a lie a huge one there lol. They will tell you anything they can to get cash I don't get how this comp even has anything but terrible pr I want to see them go down I am going to go to every car dealer ship and let them read all the complaints then as reckon any of the folks here would ever get a car from you more then once knowing you use a comp like this. Make them reckon about how they will not get anyone to buy more then one car from them and with me driving a billboard that tells how terrible they are want to be what will happen even more?

Hey santander when you read this run over to your books and look at who has a blue 2008 billboard that says don't use this comp they screw you all the time. Have an excellent day and may the bbb shut you down.

Santander Consumer USA nightmare car loan

Our car loan was also bought by santander from citi and that was a bad, sad, day... Our experience with santander to date has been from *. We are getting nowhere it seems on a car that is now upside down. We pay outrageously high payments that are sinking us and our balance does not go down. The payments are so high (over $500.00) that we keep falling behind to just keep the car, then the late fees and other "fees" keep us owing more and more... The term of the loan seems a year longer than we remember signing on for. They have little to no explanations for any of the confusion we have and just call and call and call to get more money... We feel completely trapped. They offer no options for reduced payments, refinances (they say "they don't do that") or any kind of help whatever. We both (my partner and i) have been umemployed at different times while (he's) owned the car, and are a family seriously struggling financially. We always planned to refinance this car after we learned we couldn't pay it off with an escrow that fell through last minute. Now, we are told we have no options whatsoever since we are upside on it. I have payed cars off before but with this one, it's like they don't want you to! It's like a never ending nightmare... Stuck and sinking with santander, the worst company I have ever dealt with. Please... We want out!

Santander Consumer USA telephone conversation

On june 8, 2011 santander consumer usa gave order to eastern investigative bureau, inc., to re-possess
A suzuki forenza motor-car that was obtained by citi - autofinancial approximately three (3) years ago. The man involved came about 1:00 am, pounding on the apt's door, for a long duration of time. I then had to follow him to the car, where the car was blocked in by a car, of whom the driver was introduced as mannywho gave me a business card with his name (given). I was ordered to give the man who came at the apt a copy of the keys for the suzuki forenza, of which after taking out a few important stuffs he drove it away/did not tow it, of which may not may seem to be legal.
On june 9, 2011 when santander consumer usa was contacted, a represenatative said that in order to get back the car, the company must get $1000.00 by money-gram within 10 days, of which the payment up to june 11, 2011 would be current, then the payment of $378.94 for july, 2011 would become due on the 11th. The amount of one thousand dollars ($1000.00) was sent by moneygram to santander consumer usa on june 9, 2011.
Now they sent a bill for $1809.21, of which only $378.94 is owing for july 2011, and august 11, 2011 another one would become due. This is not justice to us as consumers, and this company needs to be investigated, of being contrary in their business transaction by phone and documentation, of which should be synchronized. Please investigate and correct this matter, as this can be a bad reflection on this company in trustworthiness. Thank you

P.S. A payment of $378.94 will be made on the 26th and another payment on sept. 02, of which will update account,

Santander Consumer USA loan payoff payments/reimbursement

In late june of 2011 our '04 ford taurus was a total loss when a wind storm broke a tree and caused it to fall on the car. Our insurance company, progressive, was quick to respond assess the damage and, as mentioned earlier, declare the vehicle a total loss. Progressive, per our coverage at the time of the claim, paid out two payments to santander. The first payment was for the value of the vehicle, $7, 304.91 and the second was for load/lease payoff coverage, $1, 951.23 for a total of $9, 256.14. The first payment was sent on july 1, 2011 and the second on july 7, 2011. I received a phone call from santander on or about july 19, 2011 stating that I was seven days past due paying my account and would I settle the payment over the phone. I answered that "no, I won't, you should have two payments from my insurance company to more than cover the balance of the loan." santander stated that they had received no payments from progressive. I called the progressive claim's representative for my claim, david moss, immediately and explained the situation. David immediately stopped payment on the initial checks that had been sent and contacted santander to arrange new payments to be sent out. He overnighted the new payments to santander via usps. I again received a phone call from santander stating that I was delinquent in my payment. I asked if they had received the overnighted payments from progressive. The customer service representative for santander was less than helpful. She knew of no payments and asked me if knew where the payments had been sent and could I track them down. Again, I called my claims representative; and again david called santander trying to figure out if, when or who received the payments that were sent via overnight mail. No one was able to locate the payments. So, once again david stopped payment on the checks and arranged to have the payments sent, again overnight, via federal express. David then gave me the fedex tracking number so that I would know the status of the package and when it was received by santander. The payment was received in santander's office on a monday, july 25, 2011 and signed for by a d. Lee. On wednesday july 27, 2011 santander again called me stating I was delinquent. At this point I lost my temper. Once again I called my progressive claims representative. Once again david called santander to unravel the situation. Santander, after three failed attempts to pay them, said that they would open a case to investigate. After their investigation I received two letters on monday august 8, 2011 stating that they had received my payments but the monies were not enough to pay off my principal. I knew this information to be false. I promptly called santander's insurance department to discuss the matter. As it turns out, they did receive the payments, my account had a zero balance and was declared closed. Apparently santander had a "glitch" in their system that mailed out letters on closed accounts attempting to collect a debt. I also learned that I would not receive my reimbursement of $1083 until sometime after september 8, 2011 because it takes 30 to 45 days to process a reimbursement. To which I replied, "you wasted 30 days already because you obviously don't know how to process a payment!" I explained that I was not upset with jessica, the customer service representative for santander but rather I was upset at her company for their incompetence. Jessica apologized as best she could and remained professional. However, there seems to be some rather dubious dealings or business practices going on at santander consumer usa inc.

Santander Consumer USA unethical inactivity fee

I opened a business account at sovereign bank in 2009. The bank representative assured me that there will be no fees or charges on my account. I deposited $240 and waited for my debit card to deposit more. After two weeks of not receiving the card, I contacted sovereign bank to send me a new card. I haven't received the new card since, and couldn't deposit my checks through atm. Recently, I received a letter from sovereign bank that they charged $160 inactivity fee from my account. I visited the bank and explained the situation and told them they don't have a right to charge me without notice. The manager told me that I have agreed and signed to pay the inactive fees, however, I look into the issue more and found out that this new regulation of $16/month inactivity fee started in october, 2010. Therefore, I definitely haven't signed such an agreement and they definitely haven't send me any notice. They unfairly, unethically and even without a notice, charged me $160 from my account.

Santander Consumer USA not a complaint!!! :)

Wow! Santander customer service rep-randall is amazing! My car loan was also sold to santander after citifinancial auto sold out. I usually pay my car loan on time but i've been out of work for some time and just couldn't make the payment last month. So, i've had many customer service probs with santander... Including rude, insulting, ignorant & harrassing, hang up calls. Then a couple days ago, I decided to call & try to offer up a "good faith" $50 pmt & explain my sitch. That's when I got randall. Honestly, he was polite, respectful, patient, kind and understanding. He told me I qualified for a 3 month deferral and set it all up! He said to call back & check the next day to verify it was approved so... I did & it was! Just wanted to post this because randall was possibly the best customer service associate i've ever dealt with at any company and i've been a customer service associate myself for 14 years! ♥

I am trying to help her out, because at the end of her loan she is going to find a BIG SURPRISE! You must work for Santander like many of this other people. I find it odd that over 4, 000 people are saying the SAME THING!

That is good that it help your current situtation, but what Randall did not tell you is that after your "maturity date of the loan, the intrest on your car loan will continue to accure, even after you are suppose to pay the car off. For example, say if you are 3months from paying your car off, the 3months that they deferred your car payment will be tacked on your loan and instead of you paying the car off the last 3-months you will be told that the interest accured so you will have to pay after the maturity date an additonal 10months.

The exact same thing happened to me with my loan with Citifinancial Auto. During the course of my 60 month loan with them I had asked for about 6 extensions. It was never explained that this would result in a HUGE balloon payment so, I was told I was eligible for an extension on my loan. Next thing I know the loan was sold to Santander Consumer USA without any type of notification by Citifinancial! Then, after making a couple payments to Santander, I lost my job and had to move back in with my family. I contacted Santander to see if I could get an extension for one month. I was told my request was submitted and to call back in a couple days for their decision whether or not to grant the extension. When I did, I was told it was not granted. At that point, I stated that without the extension my payments will be over 30 days past due because of their unwillingness to work with an unemployed person who is trying to be responsible AND that since they claim all calls are recorded, they would have my promise to pay my debt even if it is going to be late.

So now, I have to deal with several calls everyday from them. I don't bother to answer because it is NEVER a person on the line, just a recording stating I need to call to discuss my past due payment. I just keep making my payments late...I only owe about $1800 and then I will be DONE with Santander Consumer USA!

Santander Consumer USA has not posted the payment and it cleared the bank.

I purchased a jeep and was financed with fifth third bank. They sold my account to santander consumer usa. I canceled my gap and warranty to get my payoff lower so I could trade in the jeep for something more economical. The dealership issued the payment to fifth third bank on 7/1/2017. When I called fifth third bank to ask them if they will forward it to santander, the banking representative told me there is nothing they can do with the check and neither can santander because it's payable to the bank. So I called the dealership and they kindly stop paid that check and issued another payable to santander on 6/16/2017. They mailed it on 6/16/2017 to santander. It cleared the bank on 6/28/2017. No one can find this payment and it certainly is not posted to my account. Santander keeps asking for a copy of the check front and back before they will even attempt to search for it. The dealership lady tells me to wait until nexct week and she will request a copy of the check front and bank because their employee is trying to close month end and... She "doesn't want to bother her..." oh my god. I only agreed to wait until next week to start the process of getting the check copy front and back because I don't want to make that dealership lady angry with me. Then I may never get what I need to show santander. Meanwhile toyota is waiting for the title. This horrible customer service at a 360 degree spin. I guess I should be prepared to get a lawyer.

I had a loan with Santander on an RV, which I traded in for a new RV. In the trade transaction, I gave the new RV dealer a check for the cost of the new RV minus the trade-in, and PLUS the balance owed on the traded-in RV, which they were then going to pay off. They sent a payoff amount which was MORE than was owed to Santander; Santander verbally confirms this but my online account as well as the payment history and paid in full document they sent me only shows the amount applied to payoff the loan. Nothing shows the ACTUAL amount paid or the overpayment. I have done 2 online chats with them, spoken to customer service, and a manager, and they all maintain the following ridiculous claims: 1. They have NO document that they can send that will show the actual amount I paid. 2. They can NOT draft a letter, email, or other communication that shows the actual amount paid or the overpayment, even though they can see it on their screen. 3. There is NO other person higher than the 1st level manager I spoke with that I can contact. He refused to give me the phone #, email address etc. of his boss, and maintained that there was no one else in the company I could talk to, and no one else who could give me the document I am requesting, as one does not exist and can not be created, due to company policy. It is unbelievable that they refuse to produce an actual accounting document, that they have fraudulently posted payment information to my account, and that they staunchly refuse to allow me to speak to anyone!

I would like to file a formal complaint against two of your members working in repossesions. I called on Saturday Aug 28, 2017 for assistance with my vehicle payment. The first so called gentleman was very very rude he spoke down to me questioning me as to why was I not having my daughter who is eighteen pay the car note instead of myself since i cannot seem to pay it, then he began to tell me that he worked and went to college so why shouldn't my daughter do the same. i began to inform this less than human employeee of yours that i felt it was none of his bussiness as far as my daughter was concerned. He then began to smart talk me informing me that it was was i who called him and not he who called me. He was very degrading rude and very unprofessional with me especiallt during this time of my illness which I have been recovering from major surgery. i asked for a supervisor he informed me that there was no supervisor there and i could just hang up and get another person. I did that then a chiquita less than human person spoke to tm harshly as well and though I pleaded with these two individuals to give me just until Wednsday to pay the deliquent amount these two less than human beings continued to talk over me and speak rudely to me. At the end of the coversation this chiquita person slams the phone down before i could ask anymore question about the payment arrangement procecdure. This vehicle is used for my daughter for college it will be paid off in January and I find it very degrading and offensive to have been treated this way by your employees i have made a formal complaint to the better businees bureau also I am seeking a finacial aid attorney because this was very very unnecessary. I feel that these two employees does your company a great disservice and i know for a fact that i will never have anything promising to say about your comapny .

Citi Bank was financing me when I got my truck back in 2017. In 2017 Citi sold all its car accounts to Santander which I didn't know because no one contacts me for that. I was under an unemployment plan with Citi, so instead paying $550 a month I was paying $350 a month. I lost my job in 2017 and I have not been able to find full time job again. After I made two payments with Santander they told me that my payment will be $550 again because the unemployment term expired. I tried millions of way to keep this deal, it was not possible. They say that I must seek for trading or any type of way if I cannot afford my payments. So, I have been getting money from relatives so I can make payments. I had 10 days grace period with Citi, with Santander if you are a day late, they call the next day literally betweencccvxzzx 10-12 times a day. Of course I was late; I was struggling to make these payments. So when I called them today again, and try to see if I get a deal they say you better pay today because we are charging you $6 every day that you don't pay. Plus, if I try to pay online, to make an easy a quick payment, they charge me $11 just to MAKE A PAYMENT. In other words I have to pay some money to pay them. I need help I do not want to lose my truck I am struggling, I just want to reduce my payment for 6 months at least, and being able to make a payment online with no charge. This bank is a scam. I feel chased, robbed and frustrated. I would love to sue this people for harassment and for making desperate unemployed people like me almost to steal Money for them to get pay. Any help? I cant afford my next payment.

If you are looking at car loans, RUN if the loan is offered through Santander USA out of Dallas, TX. My loan was absorbed from Soveriegn Bank six months into the loan and for the next three years there was no issue with payments clearing on an auto payment schedule through my bank. Suddenly in Dec of 2017 they lost a payment and attempted to blame Soveriegn. Oddly enough the payment was found after a series of complaints but no explanation (as promised) was ever given. My last payment was transmitted on 5/24 and again Santander has refused to take responsibility. Not only that, their customer service person became belligerent in refusing to accept a valid check number from my bank telling me that it was not valid. Their service is the worse I've ever experienced and this is my 12th car loan. If you value quality customer service avoid Santander at ALL cost. They are a hostile organization with no customer service. I for one will never deal with them again and should a loan ever be offered with them again I will refuse. I'd rather walk than deal with these folks.

I sure do miss Citi-Financial Auto. I contacted Santander on 05/06/2017 in an attempt to get a deferment as a result of $5500.00 in vehicle repairs in the last 2 months. Currently may payment is up to date however the next payment is due 05/13/2017. I was told that the company was not approving deferments when the account is up to date. I was advised to wait until 06/01/2017 & call back a make the request @ that time. Should I wait until that date that will be additional interest &/or late fees. I simply can't understand why a company would want you to allow your account to become delinquient before they will provide assistance. The only reason I can find is so they can charge those additional fees.
I've spent hours reading complaint after complaint regarding this company. Heck they may just want to repo my vehicle; who knows.
When I was with Citi-Financial it was a requirement that a payment needed to be made within the last 30 days before applying for an deferment. If I wait until 06/01/2017 then it will have been 48 days since my last payment therefore making me ineligible for an deferment. THIS COMPANY IS THE ABSOLUTE WORSE.

Santander Consumer USA gap insurance rip-off

I purchased gap insurance on a new 2011 auto. I was in a head-on collision and I was not at fault. My car was totalled. I filled insurance paperwork within 30 days. Three months later, santander collection people started calling me and said that I owed them $7406, for the balance due to not having gap insurance. I called hardin hyundai and spoke to joe, one of the finance managers. He said he would contact santander usa and send them signed proof of my gap policy. Santander two months later denied my gap policy because 120 days had passed, and now they constantly keep calling me, and have put $7406 charge-off on my credit report.

Santander Consumer USA rep said my card was declined but the funds were withdrawn and now they say they have no record of the transaction!

This morning I called santander to make a $195 payment on my car loan. I gave the representative my card information but was told that it was declined. I told her that was impossible because I had just checked the balance and there were sufficient funds to cover the transaction. I verified the card information with her and she tried to process the payment again. She told me again that the card had been declined. I told her I would call back with another card later on in the day. During my lunch break I called back with a different card and a male representative took my card and I was told it had been approved and processed. When I went to the atm with the card that had been denied earlier in the day, I realized that the $205.95 transaction that had been 'declined' by santander was pending to clear my account! When I called santander the rep told me that they had no record of that card in their system and there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak with a manager who was no more helpful, I asked him to send me a letter stating that they did not charge anything to the declined card and he said it was impossible because they cant send me something on a card that they dont have record of in their system. I told him that he has fingers, he could just type a letter confirming that they didnt try to charge the card. He refused. I told him I could send him a copy of my account history showing it posting, he nonchalantly said that I could do that, but that they would 'get to it' tomorrow after today's end of day had been run. I dont know if he thinks people have money just lying around but because of their incompetant customer service staff, my other bills are not going to get paid. I called direct express (the card that was charged without authorization) and they said I have to fill out a dispute form which will take 7-10 days to get to me in the mail and then there is a review process (more time). Seriously? I want my money back.

If the money is pending, it might not clear anyways. It might just be an authorization. So far I haven't had any issues with this company. I really hope the charge just drops off your account. Good luck. :)

Santander Consumer USA privacy violation

I have a checking account with sovereign bank. On 06/29/2011, I asked a person who owed me $ 120 to make a deposit into my personal checking account at sovereign bank. I was surprised when this person called me at end of the day to confirm that transaction was done and informed me that my account had a negative balance. I never gave any permission to sovereign bank to share the status of my account with anyone. On 06/30/2011 at 10:30am I spoke with sovereign branch manager, roseli schniederjans at [protected] who confirmed me that procedure is absolutely correct. I had my privacy violated what caused me lots of troubles.

When you go to a bank and make a deposit, the teller gives you a receipt which shows your balance.

"I asked a person who owed me $ 120 to make a deposit into my personal checking account at Sovereign Bank."

The teller gave them a receipt which shows your balance.

If you made the deposit yourself, only you would know the balance.

Santander Consumer USA continuing charges despite payoff of loan

I never took out a loan with santander. My loan was sold to them by citi. I never missed a payment or was late during the entire time that I had the loan. I paid off the loan and santander is continuing to take the same payment from my account despite the fact that I have a zero balance with them. I have called, faxed and emailed them to try to get it to stop but they refuse to acknowledge that it's happening and refuse to return the money. I have faxed them bank statements showing the charges and filed fraud charges with my bank. I'm at a loss for what to do. So I am closing the bank account that they are deducting the money from despite the incredible inconvenience of changing my direct deposit and other direct debits for other bill payments. I don't know what i'm going to do to get my money back. They are rip off artists. They will steal every penny that they can get and then fight with you tooth and nail before they will give it back. Somebody please open a class action against these guys. I will happily join in.

I have a similar problem and I'm not sure what to do. Like you, Santander bought my loan from CitiFinancial Auto. The loan is set to be paid of in November, however they've tacked on $6, 000 in additional interest charges. When I inquired about it, the rep told me there is additional interest charged for every day I've ever been late, and that those charges are added to the end of the loan term. $6, 000?! That's half the principle that I financed in the first place! Now they want me to extend the loan and finance this $6, 000. So I'll literally pay more interest in their bogus interest.

Does anyone have any information about this? Is it legal? Can anything be done?

Santander Consumer USA lending practices

My auto loan with hsbc was taken over by santander in 2008. Santander is/was a secondary lender (for those with poor credit) and their business practices are questionable. I have requested my loan contract from them three times. Today when I called, I advised the customer service representative I was recording the call. She said I need their permission. I asked her for it and she told me no. I asked for a supervisor. Twelve minutes later I speak to another person attempting to end the phone call if I recorded. I advised them they record it on their end so they shouldn't have a problem with it, but he still tried to end the call. My concerns about santander: i'm not sure they have a copy of my original hsbc loan contract and/or a copy of the loan contract with them (which technically would not be signed since I had no choice). However, when a new lender takes over a loan, by law they are required to adhere to the conditions of the original loan. My original hsbc loan contract states, "if any payment is not paid in full within 10 days after it is due, you agree to pay a late charge of 10% of the unpaid amount of any delinquent installment." however, santander charges the 10% late fee the first day you're late. I have a bmw with payments of $644, so that's an illegal fee of $64 anytime I was one day late. Once I receive a copy of the loan agreement, I will likely be having my attorney file a complaint.

I am having similar issues with them. My loan was originally with HSBC then was sold to Santander. I deferred four payments and have paid a total of 62 payments ($354 per month) and I still owe $3000! I have asked for an original copy of my contract and an itemized payment statement. I received the statement but not the contract. In reviewing the statement I am questioning the legality of how they allocated payments from interest and principle. I requested a review on my account to make sure it is correct and was told that a supervisor would call me to discuss what they found. I have not heard anything and that request was made in March of 2011. Please feel free to contact me at dayne1993@yahoo.com

Santander Consumer USA all problems corrected

After fighting with santander for 6 months on many different aspects, with absolutely no solution, all my problems were solved by their telephone rep. Named felecia, stationed in their fort mill, sc office. She solved them all in 20 minutes, after I had spent 6 months and 20 man hours attempting to deal with santander.
She was a former citi employee and thoroughly equipped in customer service.

Santander Consumer USA company still calling after bankruptcy filled

I need to file a formal complaint towards this company. We had file chapter 13 in 2008, we made all payments on time to the trustee, however due to my son's disability we had to file for a chapter 7. On the process of filling a chapter 7, santander, never sent us any bills, nor phone calls and repossessed the car. After the car was repossessed, santander started contacting us by phone calls. I called them back, they never verified who I was and started attempting to collect funds from us. Here is my bankruptcy case number 6:11-bk-06811-abb. Tomorrow, 06/03 we have our hearing and this company still are contacting us. I have informed this to my attorney. However I need to take this an step further. I have the time and recording from the on my cell phone.
