Rightio Plumbing charges where no repairs were carried out

I was hit with a charge of £188.40 for a charge that I never authorized and also for repairs services that was never delivered.

On the 14th of July 2023, I had searched the internet for a plumber that can repair a bathroom leak in my property in Clydebank, Glasgow. I found a service company called Rightio that claims to offer a 24 hours plumbing repairs. I called the company and the customer service lady informed me that they can send out their plumber to go repair the leak at a labor cost of £157. I specifically asked the lady if there was any call out charge and she said NO there isn't any. I replied to the lady that I had asked because I really don't want to proceed if there is any call out charge.

The plumber showed up at the property and spent less than 15mins and left mentioning that they would return back the following week to do the repair job. On Monday 17th July, I got a call from the customer service team of Rightio advising that the plumber says that the repair work will actually cost £425, as the repair work will take 4 hours. I then replied that I wouldn't like to proceed any further and that I want the job cancelled, as I really don't believe that the job is a 4 hour job. She then replied that the job is cancelled and won't proceed any further.

I later got a call from same company claiming that they would like to charge me for diagnostic analysis carried, which I never requested for nor agreed to. From the start, I was never informed of any diagnostic analysis that will be carried out nor did I agree to such. I replied to the lady that it appears that their company is a SCAM, out to defraud unsuspecting people. I then specifically told her that they should never attempt to take any payment from my credit card account as I never authorized any diagnostic work, and more importantly the repairs work which they had promised to carry out was never done.

On Saturday, 22nd July I noticed that Rightio had gone ahead to take a payment of £188.40 from my Lloyds Bank credit card, whereas they never did any repairs work, neither did I consent to a diagnostic advise being carried. Rightio has no evidence to show that they carried out repairs work in the property nor do they have any evidence to show that they had mentioned that a diagnostic work will be carried out and that I will be charged for it. The plumber had merely provided a quote on what it will cost to actually do they job and when I decided not to proceed, he then decided to charge me for a so called "advice" that I never agreed to.

I am complaining as I would like Rightio to be sanctioned and stopped from defrauded unsuspecting members of the public. I have already contacted my bank and asked them to assist with disputing the payment and reversing the payment back into my account.

Desired outcome: I would like an unreserved apology from Rightio for their dishonest action and also a token monetary compensation for the inconvenience caused by their fraudulent actions

Rightio Plumbing

I called for a plumber to come and look at my boiler as it had developed a leak.The situation was not urgent as the boiler had been turned off for 6 weeks due to a lack of plumbers being fully booked.I telephoned what I thought was a local plumber and booked an appointment for friday 17/4/23.I as requested gave them my bank details and was told that it would be £152.00 for the first hours work.I am 70 years old and it was getting dangerous carrying boiling pans of water upstairs so i agreed.A plumber turned up and after 10mins told me I needed a new boiler,he left.The firstI heard of Rightio was by telephone demanding £182.40.I now have a letter,the first one saying Final letter before commencing legal action.While I understand that some people demand a call out fee Rightio advertise no call out fee.I am happy to pay a fee but not £182.40 for 10 mins with no fix.Their Ref N0.is 6974384.

Desired outcome: Some kind of refund off this amount.It is just too steep.They are charging me £3.00 a minute for doing nothing.

Rightio Job numbers 6898414 and 6898278

Total cowboy con artists beware!

These fraudsters attended my parents house on 26th september and charged £220 for a small bathroom leak. This was early evening so an “out of hours” call but still extortionate given all they did was rip a couple of tiles off to expose a pipe that needed replacement.

The following day they attended during normal working hours and charge a disgusting £305 per hour to fit the new water pipe. Total bill for that day was £420! So well overall £600 for an extremely straightforward job.

I queried the bills with customer service who are equally as useless as they have asked my parents for proof of what has been taken out of their account knowing full well what they had charged. This is because rightio take bank card details when customers first make contact and then actually take the money automatically without customer consent. Despite emails and telephone calls from both myself and my parents they have still not responded and any contact has been with a different person each time.

This organisation should be investigated by the appropriate parties as their business practices fall well below any level of standards or fair charging policies. I am currently in discussions with trading standards who are very interested having received a number of other complaints.

Please do not use them unless you want to get totally and utterly ripped off!

Desired outcome: A fair charge for the works carried out.

Rightio Plumbing

The service was great at first, and although the £147+VAT initially quoted for a leaking toilet was expensive, we were happy to pay it for next-day service. It would just be a quick job (there was no damage to the toilet and no need to remove floorboards or numerous pipes etc.)

I gave my card details over the phone to complete the booking.

The plumber was polite and did a good job, the toilet was repaired in half an hour.

We were then immediately charged £285.

We were never informed of a £90 charge for a replacement valve and we did not agree to it. Payment was taken immediately and when we challenged them on this, we were offered a £20 off voucher for our "next visit".

Rightio Plumber

Rang rightio plumer on or around 15/5/22 to get lealing shower 2/3 later plumer booked pm visit no one by 5pm sorry late arrived 7pm without looking at it need new one he would get one but might be from abroad as mine is obsolete wait 14 days they said they hadon newer type so 5/6 appointment later soory not coming today tthe fial straw we dont have one this being very time I rang them // so I demand money back 14 days during this time £150 14 day past I rang we have problem our end wait another few days nothing again we still trouble putting moey in bank very time I rang same answer time after time told them for medcal need shower 24th june 2020 I rang we will reissue just send cheque any wait anther 7 days//they also sent email saying didnt we do well job no 6846499 ref [protected]

Rightio Plumbing: toilet repair

They were late, had to call to see where they were. When he arrived he confirmed that the price was £138 an hour as had been quoted by telephone and then took 1 hour 2minutes and charged me £306. He said the extra was for parts and because he’d gone into the second hour. Appalling company. They mislead you and con you taking your bank details when booking appointment and as soon as you sign the money has left your bank. These are rogues through and through and should be stopped from trading. I’m an oap and this wiped me out, two weeks pension, leaving me with £90 to live on for two weeks. They should be ashamed. I was left in tears.

Desired outcome: I just want other vulnerable people to be aware of this company and there dishonest tactics.

They did much the same to me in 2020 just before lockdown, they charged me for 3 hours work that should by their own admission been 50 minutes work, they sent out another plumber to check and this was his conclusion...but only with threats of small claims court did they return 2 hours payment...it was a really awful time and I had ill health at the time...I do have to say that I have used previously and was very impressed...but now would never use again it took me months...so like the above post just be very careful with this company...their customer service was terrible..they treated me like dirt...

Rightio Heating system repair

job reference 6759943, Engineer ID 6970. Elderly lady, hard of hearing, poor eyesight, undergoing treatment for cancer, no hot water. Daughter had to travel 30 minutes each way from home to mothers house to attend engineers appointment on each occasion. Engineer Ryan Rhodes failed to arrive on site for three consecutive confirmed appointments (29th October 2021 13:00 - 17:00, 30th October 2021 13:00 - 17:00 and 31st October 2021 09:30 - 10:00) and Rightio were unable to contact him on his phone which was not being answered. Finally arrived at 17:10 for a 13:00 - 17:00 fourth appointment (1st November 2021) and offered no apology or explanation for his failure to keep the three previous appointments. Did not wear any face covering as per current Covid recommendations. Debit card payment processed on the engineers phone against current data protection recommendations. By far the worst experience we have ever had with any tradesperson and will certainly not be recommending Rightio to anyone and will never consider using their services again.

Desired outcome: I would suggest that some form of financial compensation would be in order and a written apology.

Rightio Boiler service

I contacted Rightio online in order to arrange an annual service for a 150ltr slimline Tribune unvented hot water cylinder. A time and date was agreed and I paid £129 by debit card over the phone. On Monday the 15th of October a Rightio plumber arrived at around 10.00am. the plumber did not have any equipment needed to service un unvented cylinder other than groove joint water pump pliers. When I said that the pipes were rumbling when the hot tap was turned on the plumber fiddled about with the inlet valve, turned the hot tap on and claimed that the problem had been fixed which it has not. The plumber then said that the service was complete and was leaving . I said that I had asked for a full service of the cylinder and required a completed and signed service record. The plumber said it would be sent to me which it has not.

Rightio Plumber/Lack of cimmunication

I called this company as an emergency call out for my 85 year old mum, she was experiencing loud banging pipes. The plumber came out on the Friday, he said he will order the parts and would be back in touch, bearing in mind this was an emergency and that my mother had no water, we didn't hear a thing until I called them the following Tuesday, I was told the parts had been ordered and they would be at my mums in the Wednesday morning ( 4 days with no water) no-one turned up on the Wednesday no phone call from anyone so again I called them, they then told me the plumber will be arriving on the Thursday, again no plumber arrived no telephone call from anyone, I called them to ask why the plumber hadn't arrived and they said he has gone AWOL ? They said they will make sure someone comes out on the Friday, by this time this now mean my mother has had no water for a week. I decide as to cancel the job completely as I had no trust in them what so ever . I cannot say how frustrating this whole experience was for both my mother and myself this was. This company is incompetent and as for communication this is very poor and I would say to anyone to avoid them. I have requested a part refund as the plumber was only at my mothers for 20mins and I was told the extra time owing would be used when the job was completes, through no fault of ours the job didn't go ahead.

Rightio plumber

Terrible experience, Before they arrange someone visit my flat, the call operator told me they won't charge money until they completed the job and fixed the problems. the engineer came one hour late on Monday afternoon, i have to wait for him with my little toddler! Without any apologies, I explained to him again all the problems this flat have, and told him the fuse box keep tripping, no hot water, flat is supplied by electricity only. He took 45 mins to diagnosed the problems, and he don't even find out the real problems. Lied to me that he will need to replaced the immersion thermostat on my brand new cylinder, He can't do it today as he have to order it and came back on Thursday. I told him to call me back of the price before he ordering, then he ask me to sign on his tablet as his proof to come, after he is leaving, I phoned up my plumber who installed the Brand new cylinder, he told me I must been lied by the engineer, as it's a brand new cylinder the elements shouldn't break such quick. He had a quick check on the second morning, he told me as the cylinder has two immersion thermostat on my cylinder tank, I can't leave two immersion thermostat on at the same time, he switch one off, leave one on, my fuse box became working normall, and I have hot water straight away. my problems has been sorted out in 5mins, I made a call to rightio and stop them to do any further job, but finally they charged me 142.80 for just checking, the job didn't even completed, and the engineer didn't find out the real problems at the end of the day. When I request a refund, They said it's the labor cost, what! £142.80 for doing nothing in my flat! and lied to me that I have to replace the parts! Never use this company!

Rightio 2009 toyota corolla 187k miles

Husama Abdullah is a scam artist criminal that sells lemons. He is from middle easte buys cars runs them down then sells them to poor people in my town wilkinsburg Pennsylvania. He always sells rusted broken cars cars that have transmission problems and faulty wiring. Please don't let him post his cars on let go how manu people need gypped before you make this to stop happening

Rightio Horrible experience

I am absolutely sure they are the worst ones and here's why:
they rescheduled a plumber's visit 8 times! And I heard no word of apologies from them as if what they did was normal.
I took a day off and waited for him to arrive. The company called me every hour and told me that the plumber would be late, that he was too busy, he was the only one and so on and on and on.
So at 7 pm, I got their last call. They said the plumber can't come tonight, but we can reschedule.
No way! I'd rather jump into lava than use you again.
