Mercury Marine review: 125 hp saltwater 2 stroke

I purchased a mercury saltwater series 125 hp/2/stroke in 2000, after nine months of no run time due to mechanical problems, the dealer agreed to replace. The 2001 engine was used very sparingly for six years: maybe twenty hours per year Now my mechanic is troubleshooting a knock in the engine and guess what he found: there never were any locking rings to hold the wrist pins so all cylinders are scored and repair is too costly for the age of the engine. Bottom line is Mercury refuses to stand behind their product and have told me"sorry but there is nothing we can do".
