I get that and so much more. I do the leg work for my 80 y/o father (USMC RET) as far as investing, credit, loans, et all and have never seen
a disaster like MFCU. Nobody seems to have any idea what they're doing. They offer things and decline them when you finally apply. Then out of the blue you get the approved offer / item in the mail with completely different terms than described. Try cancelling the modified program and they
stall, hem, haw and relay one rediculous excuse after another of how they are unable to change the terms.
But wait! There's more!
No paper checks unless you visit their office in N.C.
Get ready to be turned down for a credit card even if you have a fico of 700.
Got seven business days to kill? The place a check hold on items over $250 when you use mobile deposit. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Do yourself a favor. Get another bank.
I got involved with MFCU when a relative passed away. I was named on the account as beneficiary "paid on death." I went to the bank with the death certificate, account information and the "POD" form. At first I was told there was no problem, the account did not go through court (probate) and she would cut my check. Then she called someone from her office and told me I would need letter of testamentery. This means I would have to go to the courthouse and probate the will before receiving the check. I told the clerk that pod means the account is now mine. I do not have to go to the court before closing the account. She left the office and went through a door where I was not permitted. After about 10 minutes she returned and told me there was a complication because all of the accounts were together. She would not elaborate on this. She went down the hall again behind the closed door I was not permitted to enter. This entire process took 45 minutes.
After about ten minutes I went to person in the next cubicle and asked him for the manager and the name of the employee that left. After giving me their names, he went through the same door to get the manager. As soon as he went back there, the lady that I had been working with came out and said she would cut the check. This entire process took nearly 2 hours. The only accounting I received was a slip showing that $20 was paid out of the account for a safe deposit box. No accounting of bank account balances.
Three days later I received a call from the branch wanting to know when I was going to take care of the box. I asked how much time I had to do t his. She told me there were very strict rules about time frame to check the lock box, but was unable to provide any time frame. Also, according to them, my name wasn't on the box so I could not legally open it. Why did they take payment from the account to pay for the box rental before issuing me the check if I wasn't permitted entry? Why did they contact me about the box if I wasn't in my name? Why did they call me threatening to drill it out within 2weeks of my relative's death?
Went to local court and got proper documents to get contents of box. Went to branch. It took 55 minutes from the time I first spoke with the clerk to get into the box. I was told after waiting about 5 minutes that I had all required paperwork, but still had to wait 50 more minutes. Before I was permitted into the vault, 3 employees went into the vault for approx. 5 minutes. Two of them stood against my shoulders watching me open the EMPTY box.
I think this was the rudest, most unprofessional situation I have ever encountered. I am disgusted to think that our marine families have go through this when they have lost a loved one. MFCU has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I am sure that my relative, a retired Master Sargent, would be very upset with the lack of respect given to me.
One thing I forgot to mention.. To file complaints againt Marine Federal Credit Union, I was refered to: National Credit Union Administration; and their website is: ncua.gov. Hope this helps everyone.
True. I noticed the same thing. Marine Federal Credit Union are very unprofessional. It was rare that I would get
help, but when I did, all of a sudden that person or persons no longer work their. Odd. That makes one think
the bank has something to hide. So anyone that is willing to help gets fired.
we just tried to open a business account with marine federal for a non profit organization i wont say who but i will say we are well known the branch manager has changed her "guide lines" every time we have come in there after 3 trips to this bank with the longest one putting us there for almost 4 hours and still being unsuccessful we have decided we will not open with them! they are very unprofessional and have no idea what they are doing! there branch manager is extremely rude and i will encourage everyone i know not to go there.
Not so happy client is right, I had to also too deal with Marine Federal Credit Union for awhile and I tried my best to talk with them, but they don't listen. Their customer service is the worst I have ever see in my life! I had fraudulent activity on my account and Marine Federal Credit Union look the other way and refuse to fix it!
So don't ever open any type of loans or credit cards with them because you will get screwed over big time and the bad thing about it is they don't care!
I feel really bad for you and I completely understand what you are going through. Report them to the BBB and FTC if you haven't already. Hopefully one day someone will see the mistakes they made. Best of luck to you!
