Luminous Brites review: Fraud 371

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I never knowingly authoritzed this company to charge my account $88.97 like they did, I truly never read the terms and conditions that I will in the future. These people at the 800 customer service line are rude ignorant people who do not care. I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Too bad we have companies like this since now I will no longer order on the internet from companies. I will stick with Amazon for everything.

This is the worst place that I have ever had to deal with and this weekend when I have time I will be filing complaints with all parties involved. They do this because they know people are too busy and really sometimes not everyone looks at their statements. I am disputing the charge now. I will find the Better Business Bureau in CA and do all that I possibly can from NJ.

I received the introductory offer. Today November 22, 2008 I received two syringes with the tooth whitening agent in it. A note was in the shipment that I would be charged $88.97 every 30 days. I wish to return what was sent in this shipment, unused as I have no intention of using this unsafe practice of sending filled syringes in the mail. First, of all it is a dangerous practice if it is mailed to a home a child or pet could consume the contents. Also, I cannot afford the expensive payments. I was only interested in the initial offer. Please I do not want any more payments made from my debit card. I am on a very limited budget. I will try to contact the company by phone. Thank you for your assistance

I responded to an internet ad for a teeth whitening product. The ad said it was a free 14 day trial size for only the shipping charge of $4.99. I received the product and about two weeks later, there was an unauthorized debit from my account in the amount of $88.97. I only wanted to try this product, did not want to continue with it and did not authorize further debits from my account.

Now I cannot get in touch with the company to get the process going to get a refund - and time is running out. The website I was initially directed to is nonexistent - and neither is the secondary site www.luminousbrites.com. Nobody answers the only phone number I have for them. Not to mention that the number is in California which happens to be a 3-hour difference from my time zone so I am always at work during the hours they are open.

Soon my ability to receive a refund IF I can jump through all the hoops exactly as required will be expired. Apparently, I only have 15 days from the date I was billed in order to receive a refund. I have a half sheet piece of paper sent to me with the product trial that looks like it was printed from an ordinary computer that says that I must receive an RMA (return merchandise authorization) within 15 days of the date I was charged. Then it states that all cancellation notices need to be received within 20 days of the date I was billed. This 'company' has made it extremely difficult for people to get refunds of their fraudulent charges.

This is a scam! Just go to your dentist to see if they have a sample of a teeth whitening product.

I have been sent a month supply of Luminouos Brite product which I did not order. Upon calling the company, they gave me this website to e-mail for information on how to get my money back and where to return the product. I am on disability income and did not order this product. I only ordered the sample. I gave no permission for said company to use my credit card to take money out of my account. I need to get the address of where to send back the product and receive my refund.
If this company has any integrity at all, the information requested will be sent to me.
This is consumer fraud and it should be charged against this company to ward off other unsuspecting people.

thought I was just ordering a free sample and then found out that they took $88.00 dollars out of my account for another shipment that I didnt want. called to cancel and was told that it had been canceled but I had to wait to get the shipment first because it had already been sent out and then go to luminousbrites.comcustomer service and email them for an authorization code to return the product. I recieved the shipment and emailed them on december 1, 2008 and did get a response the next day but it had nothing to do with giving me a return authorization code so I emailed them again on december 3, 2008 asking for the return authorization code and got no response from them what so ever. I looked at their return policy and it says that you may return the product for a full refund within 15 days of THE DATE THAT THEY SHIPPED IT TO YOU, problem is that they shipped it to me on November 19th and I didnt even recieve it until Dec 1st which left me a whole 3 or 4 days to return it to them and then could not even get them to respond to my email with a return authorization code . this company is a bunch of rip offs. There has to be some way to take care of this. They should be shut down and the people that have been ripped off by them should all be reinbursed!

I ordered a sample of a teeth whitening kit off of the web. While I was waiting for it to arrive my husband informed me that my card was charged $89. I was surprised. That's a lot of money and when he said who charged it, Luminousbrites.com I was upset. I already paid the shipping and handling for the Free Sample and on top of that they are charging me another $89. What really made me mad is that I had not received the "Free Sample" yet. So, I looked them up on line found a phone number and called. When I finally got through the guy on the other end said that not only have I received it but I ordered it past the time to cancel. I told him that that is ridiculous cause I just ordered it and I didn't get it yet! He told me to write an e-mail to support@luminousbrites.com and I will be refunded. I'm still waiting for my refund. I don't think that people/companies like that should be in business. It's fraud, unethical and they're stealing from people. I didn't even get anything from that company and they still charged me. I think that they should be put out of business.

I called the company on Mon. Oct 20th to cancel my commitment to the company. The person I reached said he would cancel my contract and E mail the cancellation number to my E mail. When I called again today Oct 23 the agent wouldn't give me a cancellation N0. and referred me back to the internet to get help with the cancellation. The agent did tell me the account had been canceled but that I would have to go on the internet to get the cancellation number.
What kind of mickey mouse outfit is this? I have more to do with my time than go back and forth to find out about the cancellation? I will send the materials back as soon as I get a cancellation number.
Sincerely

I checked off a trial offer, thinking that they were offering a newly designed whitestrip - based on their add wording. Once they got my credit card number they started charging me $88.77 per month. There were no white strips. What you got was a syringe of goo and two mouthguards. This is a fake offer in my opinion and should not be allowed to continue. It is impossible to get your charges taken off your card because the card companies really do not stand up for your consumer rights. This company is being allowed to perpetrate a fraud in my opinion. They come up with bogus screen shots that claim that you OKd a monthly billing, which is completely ridiculous.

I have now been billed twice by your company for 89 dollars each time. After the first time I called and canceled your product and was assured I would not be billed again. Of course I was billed again. I assume I will be billed again next month as well. I called your customer service, and they said I would never be billed again. Two weeks later I get your product in the mail, with a new bill. I want it to be reimbursed to me.

I read this ad very carefully before making the decision to buy this product for only $4.99 shipping and handling. Today I rec'd a bill for $88.97 from you. Called you and was told I was charged this amount because I was a member.
I did not authorize this charge, and did not say I would agree to any further increments in receiving or paying for any merchandise.
I am asking that this fraudulent charge be removed from my account and that you contact me when it has been removed.
Thank you.

I have tried for 5 days to call company with no response to calls. I ordered the free trial which was supposed to arrive in 3-5 days, I recieved it 12 days later. Unfortunately my time allowed to call for cancellation happened to fall during the Thanksgiving holiday and I was not able to reach anyone. I finally got Larry on the phone today and asked that they cancel my subscription. He said I would have to email the billing department for a refund and they will email me my confirmation # would not give me one verbally. I want my $88.97 back in my account asap.

I was charged $88.97 on my credit card for a 30 day supply of whitener which amounted to 1 couple little syringes of gel that don't even work well . Try to get your credit back ! the customer phone # tell you you have to email and get a return authorization # and I requested one every day for over a week and NO Luck . I was not able to get anywhere with them and now my credit card company is charging me again as they have sent a invoice showing the order . Has anybody had any luck getting anywhere with this ?

I have tryed to call the company and am put on hold for so long I realize no one is going to answer so I tryed to cancel on line and can't do that either. I want them to cancel me and need a way to get a hold of them. This is nonsense. Linnadean

ordered trial product for $4.99...they shipped 2nd shipment and charged me $88.97. According to thier "TERMS AND CONDITIONS" if I called I could get return merchandise authorization # (RMA#) to return product for full refund within 15 days. They ignored my numerous emails and phone calls. I had to dispute on my credit card and I filed complaint with Better Business Bureau (whose phone calls were also ignored) by this company. This company is a SCAM. Do not purchase anything from them EVER. I got scammed for almost $90. Do research on all companies before you ever order from them. BBB is always a good place to start. I've learned my lesson. Spread the word about this company who doesn't follow their own terms and conditions.

I was charged $88.97 and I only agreed to the trial offer charge of $5.99. I unchecked that box & everything when I did it! I want my money back yesterday! I am extremely pissed & I have filed the proper paperwork with my bank. I know you will be hearing from them soon if you don't make this right & return my $88.97! Luminous brites is a rip off!

Luminous Brites will deduct $88.97 from your bank account. If you gave them your debit/credit card number, you can prevent this company from STEALING your money by canceling the card and having the bank issue a new one w/ new numbers. Therby blocking the w/drawl of funds from your acct. I realize this sounds like a lot of work, but it isn't. It is worth your 10 minutes on the phone.

This company did not allow me to cancel my subscription within the 20 days which was supposed to be the amount of time i was given . I was promised the product within 3-5 days it was 10 days later that it was delivered and then they still had the nerve to deduct 88.97 from my bank account without giving me ample time to try the product. And their website is not available. Being that it is a weekend i now have to wait till monday to call and dispute this which probably will be the wrong number also.

I ordered a free sample of a tooth whitening produce from the Luminous Brites company and paid for the shipping and handling ONLY. I never agreed to anything else. I NEVER AUTHORIZED the charging of ANY additional funds from my account nor did I join any group or membership. I received the produce and never had another thought about this company until they illegally removed funds from my account on...11-3-08 of $88.97. I am currently on disability and would have never authorized anything out of my account. I called them and they told me I could ask for a refund at the following email: support@luminousbrites.com I could not talk to anyone on the phone and they would not do anything for me and were very rude and hung up on me. I went to the web-site and found "tons" of complaints for the same thing. They are taking peoples hard earned money without their permission or knowledge. In fact, I don't even know what the $88.97 is for. I have never received any correspondence, any products, any bills, etc. I want my money back in my bank account with any fees that this may cost me.

Like others on this site, I am cancelling any transactions from this company. I never authorized this company to charge my credit card other than the initial $4.oo for a trial. In no way did I ever, nor will I ever, pay $88.97 for this rediculous product! Take this charge off my bill immediately and cancel any further shipments! I need a RMA# immediately or I will file a dispute with my credit card company and a complaint with the BBB.

I received the produce and never had another thought about this company until they illegally removed funds from my account today...11-5-08 of $88.97. I am currently unemployed and would have never authorized anything out of my account because 4 years ago I had identity theft and I DON'T DO THAT. I also just had enough money in my account to feed my family and they took every dime I had plus more. I called them and they told me I could ask for a refund at the above web-site. I could not talk to anyone on the phone and they would not do anything for me and hung up on me. I went to the web-site and found "tons" of complaints for the same thing. I want my money back in my bank account with a fees that this cost me (2 NSF FEES OF $32.00 EACH FOR A TOTAL OF $64.00, their charge over-drafted my account and my only other charge for my car insurance was charged an overdraft fee. I want my money returned immediately. The total to be returned to my account will be $152.97. This is to be done immediately before I am forced to take legal action. The following are the names of the agents at Genix Marketing that I spoke to: Mark James, Larry (would not give me his last name), Joe Phillips and Sam Davis. I, like many others of you, ordered the $4.99 trial offer of the Luminous Brites bleaching system. I cancelled before the 20days on the website (1-03-09). I received another syringe of the bleach the 30 of January. I called the customer service office and cancelled again on the 30th of January. They claimed they did not get my cancellation on the website. Now, I have been billed for $88.97 for something I have cancelled twice. In my opinion, this is a crime-white collar-blue collar-whatever, but a crime non the less. Companies should not be allowed to send a follow up order of a product without express permission from the customer. We should all be reimbursed for this tacky business trick. Rocky Mount, N.C.

Another variation on the theme: I ordered, they tray system sucks and I didn't use it, I received two more tubes of gel and $88.97 charge on my credit card. I called and cancelled my bogus "membership" and was told to email support for an RMA number to return the unused and unopened product. Email support said basically, "too bad, so sad." $90 is a chunk of change for nothing and what's worse is that they are laughing all the way to the bank. How can this be allowed to continue? How can we stop this?

Supposedly free sample for $4.95 turns out to be scam whereby company
sends additional orders every month for $88.97 without any confirmation
from customers.

Please advise if I should return both orders. I have tried both the web site
and the telephone number without making any contact except for the
canned message on the phone that says, "Please hold while I get your
party", and no one ever comes on the line. I have called at different times
on 5 occasions.

I am thinking of notifying the NC Attorney General's office about this.

I have also been charged $88.97 for monthly luminous brites shipment. I tried the $4.99 free trial and apparently agreed to the terms and conditions.(I do not remember this) When I recieved the first shipment I called the company to cancel. They cancelled order but refused to credit me the 88.97. I mailed it back but they said they never received it. Unfortunately i did not get insurance through usps. This company is ruthless. I am a dental hygienist. Any reputable company would not recommend whitening every month. The free shipment was worthless. I feel this is a scam! My credit card company tried to get them to give $ back, but Luminous brites said I agreed to the terms and conditions and did not cancel within the 30 daysand refused to credit my $.

I agree with all of the above so I won't repeat all of the similar experiences. I have gotten through to someone two times, but got no where with them. He tells me the only way to get anywhere is to email your concerns to support@luminousbrites.com. I did that and got no response for about 7 days. Called him again, and he said they did respond but he could not see what the response was. The same or next day I had a response form them and it was as follows:

The terms and conditions, which you were required to read and accept upon ordering clearly explained how the program works. If the terms and conditions were not agreed to, the website WOULD NOT process your order. We have thousands of customers who actually read these terms and conditions and either cancel their membership within the allowed time period, or choose to keep the product for many months.

They did not address any of my concerns about a refund (with my offer of any shipping of return product at my expense) and confirmation that my subscription was indeed cancelled. All I recieved was their sarcastic remark above. I emailed them again and am waiting to hear more. Will keep everyone posted if I get anywhere, which I doubt...

After recieving a "free "trial size luminous brites teeth whitening system i was not happy with the product. On dec. 1, 2008 my credit card was charged $88. 97 by the colon cleanse 700 compny for the "membership" in the luminous brites teeth whitening system. I never agreed to any membership for this product and never had any dealings with the colon ckeanse 7oo at all. These 2 companies seem to be 1 in the same. Different product same scam. I returned the luminous brites but have still not recieved a refund and probably never will because when you call their number they put you on hold and never come back on the line. It is a machin=e that answers and then leaves you waiting. I sat for 90 minuets trying to get a conformation return number and finally hung up. This company / companies are ripp off artists of the highest degree. Do not order their "free" trial teeth whitening system because they then tell you that you joined a membership and charge your credit card for stuff you didn't like, sent back and do not want.

When you go online to get your FREE TRIAL do not forget to read the terms and conditions that were UNCLEAR! Apparently you will get charged 88.00 and some change if you do not cancel in 20 days. Well, everyone assumes a free trial is a free trial. NO strings attached right? WRONG! Well, I called the company to see if I could get a full refund and the woman was so rude. Probably the rudest person i've EVER dealt with. She was pretty much laughing at me and saying it was my fault! I asked the speak to the manager a bunch of times and she laughed and said I am the manager. She made comments like I was stupid and I can't tell you how mad I was. The only thing I got from her is to send an email to the address online and they would contact me and give me an RMA number. I did that OVER a month and a half ago and they have been avoiding me. The person finally wrote back today and was EVEN MORE RUDE THAN THE FIRST PERSON! I have all of these emails documented and plan to take action against the company. Their customer service is rediculous! DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCT! We finally got the RMA number today but who knows what'll come of it. But it says it has to be within 15 days of the post mark on the envelope and it took them almost 2 months to get back to us. SO>>> you can answer the rest yourself. They screw you and they do not care!

This was charged to me because I did not enroll in their program for a whopping 88.00 so THEY enrolled me without notification of intent - they charged my credit card BEFORE sending the product on the FORCED enrollment - Now I cannot get them to do a simple thing like send me an email confirming my conversations and requests with customer service (Brandon) who was told he could not do that, nor could he give me the Corporate phone number. I did receive a one line confirmation that the "acct." had been closed, but nothing indicating that my credit card would be refunded upon receipt of the product they sent me and we have not received the "code" to send the product back either... so we can't send it back ( according to them) until we do.

After a while the customer service rep must have gotten tired of my insisting they give me some confirmation that I had actually spoken with a live person - he would give me his name and extention but said he "didn't want to put his email our there".

*The credit card company told me that they had received MANY complaints about this scam when I contacted them to dispute the charge.

The second rep would not give me ANY corporate number, nor a business number, nor any information - when I asked if she knew where the business was based - she said it was only an "on-line" business, when I where they manufactured the product she said she "didn't know" and would not give out the information if she did! If this doesn't smack of a scam I don't know what does. This should not be this difficult and they REALLY need to empower the Customer Service folks to give out proper information - but first they need to stop scamming folks!

I purchased for my son what I thought was a trial package of their product for $4.99. It was a 14 day trial and nowhere on the sight did I see anything that indicated I was joining a club. I have no credit cards so my daughter allowed me to use hers as this was a Christmas present for my terminally ill son. A few weeks later my daughters account was charged $88.97. I call the company to find out what had happened and was told I joined a club. I cancelled membership and was told to return shipment and a credit would be given. It was not. Third call was given info I had to contact by email and maybe my money would be returned. This is not the first problem like this I have had so I tried to read everything to make sure this was not another scam. I guessed I missed something. I am sick to death though with buying one thing and ending up with another. I wish someone would get on these websites that mislead you into their traps. I am not an ignorant person but sometimes I wonder how I can miss what they are doing. The banks are no help because they don't want to hear how the erroneous charges were made. Its up to you to straighten things out if you can. The last time my rent bounced because of a minimal purchase that turned out to be something else and I lost my home. Please someone fix this problem. I am afraid to use my computer at all anymore.

I did not agree to such a transaction and would like my account accredited immediately!..The only satisfaction that i received from calling the toll free phone number was to say my account would be cancelled...I pray at least this is accurate...I will not pay, nor will ever be knowingly involved with such a scam of a business!
Please confirm this email with a response!

Luminous Brites is a scam! They take your credit card number to pay for the $5 shipping, and then charge you $88.97 and send you a second shipment you never asked for. Dont be fooled by these thieves! I have 2 packages at my home that I didnt want and they refuse to refund or take back the product I "baught". I thought it was a reputable company when the had "Crest" al over the add, but they have nothing to do with this fraudulent operation. The people at costomer service will only give you the total runaround too...write to customer service, they will get back to you in 74 hours...ya, with a completely generic mail trying to to tell you that you were the one who didnt look into the fine print enough. Shame on Luminous Brites!

I order a free sample of a whitening product from luminous brites and paid with my credit card the shipping charges. I never agreed to anything else, in the information they incled with the sample they wrote: we hope you enjoy the product and continue to purchase from us in the future. The sample was send on; 10 - 29 - 08 and then again on: 11 - 18 - 08 they send a new shipment and charge my credit card in the amount of $ 88. 97. I try by phoneand by emails to obtain the address to return the shipment and to receive the credit, but was impossible. Finaly yesterday 12 - 4 - 08 i return the on solicited shipment by mail to the address shown in the envelope. I do have the certificate from the post office. And i do hope all complaint letters will alert poor individuals such as myself.

I want them to take the charges off my credit card that they charged on November 17/2008 per phone conversation with Mr. David Jenkins. I did not authorize them to charge this. I had already cancelled with them and they sent me another sample. They are really hard to get ahold of on the phone. You have to wait for at least 20 minutes before anyone answers. I do not want to have to go through this again... Please remove all charges that you have put on my credit card or else I will speak to my attorny.

Thank you

I ordered a trial of Luminous Brites and paid 4.99 for shipping . I did not authorize any further shipmens and yet received a package of this product and was charged almost $90. I now want to return this product and receive a refund.
I expect to hear from you at your earliest convenience. If I do not I will be forced to report you to every consumer group I can think of. Do not underestimate the power of an unhappy consumer.
