KZ Frontier MDL 2605 Travel Trailer / Poor quality trailer

94% 18
After we retired, my wife and I decided to purchase what we thought would be an economical and quality travel trailer. Being relatively new to the RV world we chose a KZ Frontier Mdl 2605 with a single slide. We thought this would be a reasonable first step and naively expected the RV purchase to be an experience compatible with the purchase of a new car. Well, after going to our first RV site in the mountains for our extended summer stay to get away from the desert heat, we were quite surprised, or I should say shocked, at the poor quality that existed in this RV. We made out a list that nearly filled a sheet of paper. We had water leaks, the drawer guides broke, the furnace fan rattles terribly, electrical problems, linoleum not glued down, construction shavings and materials left over every time we looked behind and beyond doors, and etc and etc. We are not very happy. I wrote a two page letter to KZ RV and provided a copy to the dealership. The dealership has been outstanding in trying to correct problems and when we bring the Trailer down from the mountains in September, they will look into the other issues. The manufacturer, however, has not bothered to respond at all (it has been a month since I sent them the letter).

My issue centers not only around the poor quality existing with my Unit, but an apparent lack of any quality control at the manufacturing facility. There are problems with my Unit that should never never get by anyone who has any sense of job responsibility and cares about the product they provide for a consumer. In my letter to KZ RV, I asked a simple question, "Would you or anyone on your staff accept a new auto or truck, if you found that the trunk leaked or the brackets holding the wiring assemblies broke or there was construction debris under the mats?" I don't think so.

Why should we be expected to accept a product that is not constructed with the best possible considerations put into it by the people and staff and management who profit from its sale! This has been quite an experience for me and I learn very quickly. I will never purchase from KZ RV again nor would I ever recommend to anyone that they purchase one of their products without a thorough and microscopic inspection of every detail. Granted, as a neophyte to the RV experience, we made some mistakes and should have been more careful in our selection, but regardless of that fact, I still feel that manufacturers have a responsibility to their customers to provide a GOOD quality product. If they can't or won't do that then American RV manufacturers need competition like American Automobile manufacturers encountered. Quality products will certainly be the end result if that should occur and some of the less than suitable RV companies will fall by the wayside as should happen!!
