I have purchased an i20 Asta car from Popular Hyundai Neeramankara, Karamana Trivandrum Kerala India In January 2010 and having an extended warranty up to 2013 January. On May 5th 2012, I have registered a
complaint at Popular Hyundai Neeramankara for the malfunction of ABS (Bill Invoice No: B201206053, R/O No; [protected]). Those who were attended my complaint, after having a long check up they told me that there is a malfunction in the ABS Module and it should be replaced and can be done with in 10days, and they promised that till then I can drive the car without any worries as technically there is no problem to drive.
But unfortunately on May 10th 2012 morning I met with an accident. I had to hit on the back of a Tavera due to malfunctioning of brakes. I had to spent Rs. 44, 000 to get it repaired. (Bill Invoice No: TPC000393, TPC000112, TPC000369 Dated 16/5, 17/5, 21/5/2012) And also I have to tell that if you could arrange a spare. I could have saved this Rs. 44, 000 if you had replaced ABS on time, or they could have warned me not to drive till the ABS get replaced. I have opted to buy i20 Asta just because it has all required saftey features for Indian roads. The accident happened because of your poor service, ie cant able to change the part when the complaint raised and the wrong advice of your service managers, so I lost my money and time, so who will pay for it

The real saga of the problem is with the Service of the Hyundai company. I had to call several people in Hyundai to probe the status of my ABS replacement. To my surprise no one from the company is taking responsibility. At least nobody there to attend my issue. From the service centre I am getting so many deadlines for this replacement, they are also irresponsible and helpless. I had a bitter experience with the customer care department and other departments. At last I got an answer from Mr. Thomas from Chennai, that the ABS module has to come from Korea and it will take at least one month (which is already over). Are they not fitting ABS in new cars? My assumption is that once they sold a vehicle, then the safety of the car is not their headache. Also I have to doubt the quality of the ABS.
After spending over 6.5 lakhs I have to let my vehicle rest on my car porch, as I am afraid to drive the car without these safety features.
Has any one seen Hyundai's advertisement "New possibilities and New thinking" - The real meaning is - New possibilities of safety failures, New thinking of never replace when it is in warranty period.
I have already discussed with the State Consumer Court, to deal with this. Hope only they can get justice for this injustice.

hi
I have an i20 -2010 Automatic. I am the second owner purchased two months back. I noticed that the ABS warning light comes on many times. I discussed the issue with the Technician in Charachira workshop - Trivandrum. He advisded me to change the Break sensor costing 6000IRS. But i never done this. I do not know whether the problem is with the sensor or the ABS system. I do not know why m/s Hyundai is not supporting the customer?
My suggestion is that, If they are really not supporting, please post your issues in the face book and people will aware about this and take a precautionary steps before buy hyundai i20.

Thanks
Gopakumar

We had purchased an i20 sportz (Himgiri Hyundai, Gurgaon, VIN 672784) 6 months back. The car has following issues:

1. Turbo lag - We are forced to drive in lower gears all the time
2. Poor Suspension - Makes knocking sound every time you hit a small stone, or a pot hole
3. Dysfunctional ABS - The ABS works intermittently and only if we hit the break pedal 3-4 times and that too after pressing the clutch pedal

We have raised the complaint with Hyundai and the Himgiri works manager (Pradeep) has conveyed that all i20 cars work like this. I have confirmed the issue with one of my friend who had purchased i20 an year ago and he has confirmed having the same type of issues with the suspension and the ABS

I have written to the Hyundai, and they are arguing that the company can not do any thing in this regard - I should raise complaints only with the concerned dealer. Can some share a lawyer's details for filing a complaint with the consumer court

Hi everyone,
I own a hyundai i20 asta CRDI and I'm facing the ABS braking problem since the day I bought it.
Whenever I go down a slope and enter a rough path to a smooth road, there's a sudden "thud thud" noise from the brakes, the brake pedal starts to vibrate, it gets stuck and doesn't go down and it ends up picking speed. Now it's not at all safe to drive this car.
I went to the local hyundai dealer many times, but they didn't respond me well..

Now I wanna take this to the consumer's court. I want them to either fix the ABS problem 100% or else take the car back and refund me my money, so that I can add some more and buy a BETTER car.

Anyway, if anyone get the solution to this, inbox me- Paul.punk7@gmail.com

I have lodged complaint to hyundai dealer but they are mentioning that this is common in all cars, now today i just missed an accident now I have lodged complaint in the company.

Has anybody got any response from the company? pls guide what to do?

Hello
I am also experienced the same issue. I bought on 29th Jan'14 and drive approx 900 km till date.
On 5th day of purchase of my car I tried to apply brake and ended up hitting a truck from behind at a speed of 10 kmph.
I thought that would be my mistake but today I saved myself by applying handbrake at a speed of 15 kmph.
I am very scared to drive my vehicle if same happen at high speed or even at low speed I hit someone very scared thinking about the consequences. Planning to move to consumer court. Please advice

Hello,
I have also felt the same thing a few days ago in my i20 Sportz ABS version (New 2013 model, hardly 2.5 months old). I was in bumper to bumper traffic and the vehicle was running dead slow. There was a truck in front of my vehicle. When I applied the brakes, they did not worked at all and I ended up hitting the truck. My entire front god hit badly. Initially I thought it was my mistake, but now after reading so many complaints it seems that it is a problem faced by many folks.

Hello,
Even I am facing the same issue with my i20 sports ABS version 6 months old. Till 5000 km all looked ok or I didn't felt the issue. But between 5k and 6k I happened to face this issue 10 times and on 4 occasions it was a close call. I am lucky and writing this. I have faced this issue all the time when vehicle was NOT on a steady movement. I.e when you see a big pot hole and apply the break or when your have crossed one big pot hole and landed on other.
I am planning to register a formal complaint tomorrow and update further.

I have the similar issues with my i20 Sportz Petrol Nov 12.The braking is very poor.I have complained numerous times and sent the vehice for a check up at least 5 times in the last 2 months. The first time they said there is no issue.Second time took it to another service center(Advaith ) as they seemed to be more experienced. It seems they have made some changes to the readings as per their G-Scan.They were not ready to explain the issue.Third time they did bleeding .After this there was a slight improvement. However the issue came up again when i had to brake suddenly when someone tried crossing the road at the last minute.I just managed to avoid an accident. The fourth time they replace the Booster, again i dont see much improvement.I dont have the confidence to drive this car anymore as i cannot say when the brakes may fail and cause an accident.
I am planning to disable the ABS and check this time.If this doesnt help, i will definitely ask for replacement /refund in court.
You can reach me on + [protected] if you need more info

I have faced similar issues with my i20 ASTA AVN model. It seems that the EBD system is not properly balanced in this car and the brakes in the rear wheel are really very weak. If for some reason there is not much tracking on the front wheels, the car feels as if there are no break at all. Most of the i20 ABS customers I met complain of the same problem and this has resulted in accidents. Hyundai keeps denying this and keeps claiming that the ABS system is perfect. The fact is that the ABS system may be ok... but the EBD which plays a major part in the brakes functioning correctly is the technology at fault. Please reach out to me at arijit.ray81@gmail.com or call me at [protected] to talk more about this. - Arijit
