charging me $125 for reconnection fee that was never turned off
The technician came to my house on 7/25/2019. He put the flyer on the door to pay by 1 pm that day but he didn't turn the water off. We paid our bill that day but they never turned our water off. They still billed us $125 to reconnect water that they didn't turn off. I have to get help from charities to pay my bills and I'm not going to have them pay for something that never happened.

This company assigns the amount of deposit for a customer based on their zip code. The highest deposits are disproportionately assigned to those lower income areas that a populated by minority customers. FGUA took over my water billing as of October of last year. I received no notification and no bill. I didn't think anything of it because I was on auto pay with the other company. I finally received an overdue notice with a $450 water bill. My water bill has always been under $100. I called and asked for assistance. They sent out a meter guy and said it was my issue. Well. I received the following months bill that week. It was back down to $109. I had made no changes. Leaks do not fix themselves. If I had a leak that caused a super high bill I would have still had the leak and the super high bill. I have tried on numerous occasions to get help from FGU via phone, email, and mail. They refuse to acknowledge me. Other local business owners have come to me and asked about my bill because they received unexplained high bills. This month I paid my bill and something felt odd so I checked and this bill is exactly the same as last month. This company needs to be stopped. They are frauds.

excessive water bill
I called FGUA customer service 2x due to extremely high water bill. I have cameras that surround my home. On my camera that shows the side of my home where the meter is it shows the meter guy touching my water softener looking for the meter. Upon his search, he accidently turned my water softener on in september unbeknown to me. Instead of shutting it off or coming to let me know he walked away. Not only did he not notify me or the company, but for 2 months the meter guys failed to report the excessive, explosive leak. What if someone else accidsntly turned it on? Its the meter guys responsibility in informing me and or the water company of the leak which they did not! I am hit with this bill now, 3 months of extremely high water bill. We do not use the water softener, moved in 2 plus years ago and never once used it. My camera shows noone else by the water softener and meter which is directly behind the softener except the meter guy every month. I should not be responsible or held accountable for something someone else did. The camera I have is wireless and is connected to an app which deletes the videos after a certain time. Wasnt aware of it until I went to try to upload it to BBB. It is the water companies place and decision to doing right by their customers. However, they do not because they know they have us by the you know what. They also know that if we don't pay, they shut the water off. That is not right. If we had a choice to choose water companies, you bet they would do right by us.

over-billing - lack of customer service or care
194 Joel Blvd Lehigh Acres Florida - #2 Over $200 Water bill for 4 days of service - we explained no one was there, no leaks, no faucets left on. We need a leak test and have someone come out and look at meters. New meter request. There is no one holding FGUA accountable our word against theirs and we can't fight it we have to pay it or have no service. We did not use this water. Something is faulty and they don't care to check into it.

Lying POS. You've been overcharging me for 6 years and I am contacting channel 8 to investigate you and to expose you one television. I tried to work with your customer service in New Port Richey Florida. For your theft of more than 30+ dollars per month for six years. There was a defective water meter at my location and I want to be compensated. Even if I have to take you to court.
As the Ombudsman on behalf of the FGUA I have reviewed Mr. Williams account and would like to respond to the concern he has posted. The March 12th statement he is referring to shows he was billed for 4K gallons of water usage for a period of 32 days (2/01/2018 – 3/05/2018). The statement balance is $223.53 and includes a reconnection fee of $125.00. There does not appear to be any evidence of a leak as the 12-month average water usage for the household is 4K gallons.
The FGUA began installing Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI), or smart meters system wide in Lehigh Acres on March of 2017. A new factory calibrated meter was installed on 6/22/2017 and there is no reason to believe the meter is faulty. However, Mr. Williams may request a 10-gallon test of the meter to verify the meter accuracy.
The billing standards followed by the FGUA are outlined within Florida Administrative Code. I would be happy to assist Mr. Williams with addressing these concerns, should he feel free to contact me at [protected], Ext. 1211.

outrageous reconnection fee
I was wrong in not paying my bill on time no excuse, but to charge a $125.00 reconnect fee when I paid the same day of disconnect and waited till the next morning to be reconnected instead of getting hit with another fee of $65.00 to reconnect that day. I have never missed paying or been disconnected before so why do they slam us with a fee of $125.00? Granted I should have paid on time and am willing to pay a reconnect fee for a reasonable amount but not more than my monthly bill is to begin with. The FGUA should reexamine their policy and make it more appropriate. I feel that they are price gouging as their is no other water company in this area for competition to keep them in check. Maybe a class action lawsuit will be necessary to bring this about? This is an excessive charge and should be reduced.
sometime people go thru a hard time in life im sure everyone can relate and if they are struggling to keep up with account and on top of that you add a charge like this as if its not hard enough. this is outrageous charges...

overbilling
Overbilling. Horrible Costumer Service. Avoided helping costumer until demanded.
My usual bill is around 45$ per month. Over the sudden I get a high bill in the 80's. I assume they are adjusting underpaid usage, since they guesstimate the usage and that's for sure: since 2 month in the row it'll be 44.3 or next 3 month same bill 36.77... and then I get two 88.55$ exact same overbilling 2 month in the row. When I call to find out what is the issue, in a professional manner, I get a rude costumer service lady. Instead of helping, she tried to blame me (her name is CARLA)... There is no leak, the new bill is back down to $60 and that's after I power pressure washed the house and deck (and still less, then when I was not even home a lot for the high bill). Now they want to charge me fees because I refuse to overpay. 1 person same house, no change, doesn't warrant 250% spike in billing 2 times in the row.
To me it should be simple. Check the issue, provide good costumer service, I don't even mind overpaying a little. But they can't even get that right. Rude and unprofessional. Still waiting for a manager to call back. Planning on going there in person. Ridicules company and horrible costumer support ethics.

water service disconnected
Gerald Rossow 5029 Blue Runner Ct New Port Richey, FL 34652. Acct#[protected]. I paid past due amount of 105.00 on 11/20/2017 and my water was turned off on 11/21/2017. My confirmation number for the payment is [protected]. My confirmation number for the $125.00 reconnection fee is [protected]. I feel that I should receive a refund of the $125 charge. It was unfair and unjustified to have my water service disconnected.

water supply
I have lived in Port Richey for 4 months and have twice experience instances of going 4 or more hours without running water due to a main water line break. To make matters worse, we are then placed on a boil water alert that last for more than 4 days and counting. I work from home and have lupus (compromised immune system). I never experienced anything like this in Tampa and never had to live on bottled water. The water quality is horrible and I have had rashes due to it. The monthly charges for service is crazy and they do not communicate outages in a timely manner. They do not offer the customers any discounts on their bills for the times when they are without running water. The most recent water line break took place July 18th. Their phones weren't working for the entire day which is suspicious. We are still on a boil water alert and I have been all week.

deposit never returned
I had to give FGUA a substantial deposit when I started service about 2 1/2 years ago. They refuse to give it back to me even though I have never been late on a payment and my credit rating is 800. They told me it would be returned when I sell the house or die. I don't plan on selling so I have to die to get it back, makes no sense to me. They are just keeping it which is stealing.

excessive reconnect fees. gouging

Maybe a class action lawsuit will be necessary to bring this about? This is an excessive charge and should be reduced, its like not turning on your turn signal in a turning lane that road ends on and you cant do anything but turn, and getting a ticket for that, ridiculous, excessive and gouging.

It is FGUA's fault for servicing areas that are not local! I have FGUA through lady lake and it's the same. I live 3 hours away but Lady lake is who provide my water service. This company is running a scam from Billing to ReConnect Fees. Us customers must come together with documentation and seek the best Attorney to start a class action law suit like the other young lady said. $125 is price gouging to reconnect! This is the ONLY utility company that does not atleast bill on next bill for reconnect fee. You would think they would since the reconnect fee is so high.
Then the Rep Donna Lizotte tried to make the customer look bad by airing her payment history when she already admitted to not paying. But this is what they do when they know they're wrong try and make the other party look bad. Unfortunately it does not matter if your late one time or 100 times the reconnect fee is HIGH.
PERIOD.
I to have found the $125 reconnect fee over the top. It is excessive given the excuse of wear and tear of vehicle gas employee time... I have sought to make a formal complaint to the Public Service Commission for the excessive reconnect fee... I would encourage Ms Concepcion to do the same
My thing is if you didnt have money to pay your past due than what makes you think we can give away thats right give it away for $125.00 more plus the past due balance? Its a total rip off and I really hope someone does something about that fee because it ridiculous amount or reconnect fee. FPL is only $17.99 others are like $10.00 so for you to charge $125.00 for water is outrages.
overbilling
There needs to be an audit of FGUA because of overbilling. I was out of state for three weeks and my bill was higher for that month than the previous one when I was home. Calls of complaint to FGUA said someone probably 'stole' my water! There r no leaks in my home and I live alone.
Pasco water utilities are current undergoing an audit where massive problems have been found. How can we get an audit done on FGUA as I'm sure there will also be massive errors uncovered.

unwarranted charges
I have been a customer of FGUA Water Co in Lehigh Acres for 2 years. In that 2 years, my water bill has always been between $30 and $50 dollars a month except one month when I filled a hot tub twice, pressure washed the house exterior and watered new landscape plantings in which the bill was about $80. In Dec. I got a bill for $18.90. I called to let them know about the mistake and was assured that sometimes the meter cannot be read and a minimal charge is assigned. I received a bill for Jan, I got a bill for 18.90. I called and told them about the mistake again and was assured that they would take care of it. Friends cautioned me that FGUA does this alot and will then nail the consumer with a ridiculous bill. Sure enough, my friends were right. My February bill was for $500 plus dollars. After what felt like a mild stroke, I called and was informed that my home which for 2 years has averaged about 9000 gallons a month usage had suddenly consumed 75000 gallons. They sent their meter reader to check the meter and of course it is accurate according to them. They offered a $200 reduction but my current bill is over $300 dollars. Please beware FGUA. They are the only game in town so I guess that gives them the license to do as they please. If you ever get am extremely low bill, demand they read the meter immediately.

I have been at this rental property in Satsuma for 8 years. My bill adv. from 40 to 65 dollars a month. FGUA in April claimed that my meter was faulty and I have been billed incorrectly for years! This is a two bedroom mobile home built in the 8o's . They came out and replaced several pipes and meters in the Neiborhood and sent me a bill for $1400.00! I have a special needs child here whom I adopted in April and am in no means made of money! They put me on a payment plan and sent me letters of warning to disconnect each month until I paid it off. Why should I be responsible for the pipes or meters of these bunch of crooks!
FGUA is a rip off. I have tried to find out where to go to get help outside their good old boy network and have yet to find out. Last year they gave my information and usage of two houses for the past 12 years because my daughter was trying to get homestead of her property ( don't get me going on how to deal with Pasco County good old boy network) every year I gat an extremely high bill and go through the red tape to get nothing done. I think they do this on purpose to make more money off us-bleed us out. I got a bill on an empty house that is shut off at the street for 860 gallons used. The meter is fairly new but they sai it was replaced in 2018. I know nothing is going to happen. They said they could disconnect but then I couldn't even rinse the lawn mower off but I would be responsible to pay a bill anyway for n service. Someone should help us with this
They took over my business water last October. My first bill was almost $450. My usual bill is under $100. I changed nothing at all and my bill was back to normal the following month. I have called multiple times and they refuse to even listen. This company is fraudulent. I just paid this months bill and something felt off so I checked last month. The amount was exactly the same? To the penny. Not even possible.
This company is run by con artist. I am so PO I'm hooking up to a well this year. My bill is always about 90 dollars a mo. Except this month it's 498.00! for who knows why. Are you kidding me? All I freaking do is pay you bloodsuckers. My care broke down this week. I had to pay 500 to get it fixed, just for it to brake down the very next week. I said, oh well, I go and pay my water bill, and it's 498? why! 1, 000 out the window. I constantly work overtime just to stinking survive. I can't get help with that even if I tried. You people make me sick!
again...read the stories and i am in the same boat...this is the only water company for where i live now (FUGA) and i was paying a bill of about 70 dollars a month did not think much of it just paid it and went on with my usual business. Then its April i call because i couldn't find my recent bill, and the machine told me that i owed 414 dollars, i was like it has to be a mistake. so i called the office and it was not a mistake, they claim there reader messed up and they only charged me for the base! now my other water company i never dealt with this kind of BS, so i said because i lost my job and all how long do i have to pay this now extremely high bill the said 2 months then they disconnect, im on a budget as it is they said i could have a 3 month payment plan but i would have to pay the normal bill plus another hundred and something dollars...basically my bill will be over 2 hundred and something dollars a month, and its do to their error but like she said its no ones fault the reader messed up but i still have to pay for there faulty readings or im shut down ...i could of paid the bill if it was normally given not okay, here is 5 months of back payment sorry now pay it... Its sad they are allowed to actually get away with that, so be careful with this company FUGA...its truly a company who just cares about the bottom line...money!
In July I terminated water service at my house, which is now in foreclosure and vacant. I paid what was listed as the "Final Bill" and now the water is turned off. Now in September I received a bill for $36.69, the bill says ZERO water usage, so I called "customer service" and they are telling me that I have to pay this "BASE CHARGE" anyway, after questioning them for the reason they told me that this charge is for the pipes in the ground? Huh, I said I am disconnected, the house is vacant and you are charging me for sewer charges, now let me get this, lets say I had reclaimed water meter for the lawn, there is no sewer charge for that as nothing actually goes into the sewer lines, then why am I still being charged for sewer if nothing is going through the lines, and why should I have to pay this base charge anyway... By the way, this base charge is actually higher than the total bill I used to pay BEFORE FGUA took over, and is about the same I now pay at the house I am actually living in... It is totally UNJUSTIFIABLE for these crooks to charge for nothing and I am now fighting with them.
I was reading about someone else that disconnected completely from them and had a well and septic system installed and is now totally independent from the FUA system and he is also fighting with them over the same issue.
This has got to STOP NOW!
I live in North Fort Myers and have a similar ongoing problem with these crooks. My husband was dying, he had lung cancer, and we were not in our Florida home for almost a year when all of a sudden I got a bill for 295.00. When I called to say we hadn't even been there for almost a year, I was told that then someone was stealing my water, and I would have to pay the bill. It's a gated community of old people. Believe me no one was stealing my water, but there is no reasoning with these people. I had them shut off my water until I could get down there. I eventually sent a check, but when I called them they said they had not received it, so I paid by credit card on the phone, so that they would turn the water back on. I stopped payment on the check, as the bill was now paid. The bill I got in February included a 30.00 charge for a returned check, as apparently they had tried to cash the check. When I paid that bill I enclosed a note saying I had deducted 30.00 as I had paid the bill. Now I get a bill for current charges, plus the 30.00, plus 5.00 late fee, as the payment was 30.00 short. I called the NFM office today, and was basically told too bad, I am so frustrated with this company. I pay all my bills on time, and have never dealt with such unreasonable people.
We are so tired of these crooks! They are trying to charge us a reconnection fee? We did not have our service disconnected. The late bill clearly says "you should be aware that if you account is disconnected due to non-payment, you will be charged an additional $123 fee to reconnect service" These people who own our water company, and the waste management company, (they weren't getting enough out of us so they split Aloha and the garbage and just starting charging us more). We pay the highest rate for water in all of Florida, and the water is smelly and undrinkable! Monopoly is SOO Right!
We've turned off fgua over a year ago (due to an impossible water bill as soon as the monopoly assumed new ownership over our then water company, Lindrick). We paid the bill (but regret it) and have continued to receive bills from these thieves. We are charged for no service and no product every flipping month! Today we received their extortion bill for no service and no product yet with a twist...somehow they claimed in their bill that we had used exactly 1000 gallons of water (I'm not sure how it's even possible to get that exact number but one thing is for sure ... they are lying). THE WATER IS TURNED OFF AT THE ROAD AND AT THE BUILDING AND WE HAVE A WELL AND SEPTIC TANK. This is criminal but it gets better. Our manager and I went out to the road to see the meter and not only was it covered beneath mud but was LESS THAN WHAT THE BILL WAS CLAIMING IN THE FIRST PLACE. But the real question is how does this mysterious (and sudden) change in zero consumption suddenly become an even 1k gallons and how could it possibly get into this building. Liars, manipulative, extortion, profiteering, commy ### (don't quote me on the last comment because at this juncture in the present state of affairs here I'd even try ANY other form of government right now...this one has just looted the country to the tune of 19 trillion dollars!~ (not even during the "great" depression has this country ever been in debt ...THAT'S NEVER but after 9-11 demolitions we see the american money going to the few and they're going over seas...we damn well better worry now...see, the "great" depression was hard but america has never experienced being in debt $1.00 let alone 19flipping trillion are you freaking kidding me!) . We need to educate our kids...something is really wrong here all the way around. Watch some of our videos (ex-cia are now talking as well as ex-fbi, etc.)... charging base fee for vacant property
I have owned the property in question in Lehigh Acres, FL since April 20, 2007. As of October 2011, I have not resided in this home. This address has been vacant since mid-October 2011 and is in the process of foreclosure.
I was extremely disturbed to receive a bill for over $400 for service from FGUA. So I faxed their company on 3/20/12 requesting termination of my account and they DENIED my request. A “Base Fee” from what I am being told by their employees, is required by me until the home is no longer in my name. I was never made aware of a “water utility base fee” contract. Are they upfront and honest with their clients about this? Do they honestly think people will pay this? They clearly know there has not been any use of water and sewage at this address for nearly 5 months. You and I also know that it can take a couple YEARS to finally have a home foreclosed on. Yet they want me to pay a fee to a company that I’m not receiving any service from. I have absolutely no problem paying for the services I have used but I will NOT pay $52 a month for however long it takes for the foreclosure to finalize. I have NEVER agreed to such a ridiculous request when I first got water hookup.
I’m not one that is very fond of Lee County Electric Coop but even they would not charge me a “Base Fee” when I’m not using their services. Nor the cable company or phone company. They are a utility company. They did not lend me money to have this service. It’s not like a lien on a vehicle.
I received the following email back from them 2 days later on 3/22/12:
Thank you for contacting the FGUA. I have reviewed your account # xxxxxxxxxx, at [address was here]. As of the date of this email you are listed as property owner, per the Lee County Property Appraiser.
Base rate charges are assessed to every property and as the property owner you remain responsible. Your request to close your account will not eliminate your base rate charge or readiness to serve fee.
The practice of utilities billing a base rate is used throughout the industry. Locally, City of Cape Coral Utilities, Lee County Utilities and Bonita Springs Utilities use this practice. It is also outlined as a general practice by the Florida Public Service Commission and the American Water Works Association. The base charge covers the cost of services that must be provided regardless of usage and offsets the fixed costs of operating the system.
If you should have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact me at the local office [protected] Ext. 25.

My response to that:
With all due respect Ms. Lizotte,
You are not providing a service nor a good in this matter. So you are telling me that you see it completely appropriate to charge me a fee every month for let’s say 2 years (foreclosures seem to take a while). That would mean I am just giving your company $1500 and you are not giving me anything in return. Please explain the logic in this. When I give a company money, I am receiving a service of some sort or I am receiving goods in hand. So I am going to ask you again, what will I get in return in handing over $52 a month to your company as I am NOT using your services?
I am NOT paying your employees since they are not working for me. I am NOT your customer anymore.
I’m sure this is your companies way to keep everyone employed and eliminate layoffs. I’ve been doing my research online. I will advise you.. I am NOT here to help benefit all your other customers and help maintain your water system infrastructure. Sorry… not from my pocket you won’t. You’ll just have to deal with layoffs like the rest of society. I am not paying this absolutely stupid illogical unconstitutional fee. I will be reporting you to the BBB and Attorney General’s office every single month I get a bill from you. So you need to correct this.

I am with you people 1000%. I fought with them for over 2 years about a house " I DID NOT OWN", but the new owner did not file the deed in his name until a court order made him. They continued to bill be monthly their "BASE" fee say that I was the legal owner of record. Sent me to collections, filed a Lien against me for a House that I didn't own. Finally thought I had this all settled, until I see, they sent another collection agency after me AGAIN. What a bunch of total "AHOLES", and there is NO State monitoring of them! GREAT!
I am going thru the same hell! They are total rippoffs and rude people. My mother passed away and they are still billing me for house that has sat empty for 2yrs..The bill is up to 894.00 they are even charging a late fee every month for no water usage . They took out a lien on moms property. She cant even get away from them dead.Wish me luck going to Lady Lake office in morning. I cannot afford to pay that . RIPPOFFS BIG TIME
When will there be a class action law suite against these scandalous greedy ''!xx#CFF!@# "reptilian" two legged createurs ie. FGUA, They dont answer their telephone, I guess that they have had a lot of complaints and people cursing them out for angering them. with their dishonesty and Greed.
I have asked the question, is "FLORIDA GOVERNMENTAL UTILITY AUTHORITY[sic]" a Florida government agency. Thruth is they are as governmental as UPS. THEY are for "BIG" Profit and greedy as Hell.
lets get a class action law suit against these mf's, Better yet, let's form a cooperative and buy them out'
the Infrastructiore which is just a bunch of pipes in the ground was put in place around the time that i was born that would be around 80 years ago, shame on them.
FGUA did the exact same thing to me, however I sold my home and the new owner decided not to put the water in his name until he moved in some month later, so I was charged for delivery to a residence I did not legally own. Even though I had the water shut off before I left and notified them of the sale, they still stuck it to me. They are morally and ethically bankrupt and only see their own narrow vision of greed and corruption as a way to line the pockets of themselves and their shareholders. It's all about the shareholders and making sure they see a return on their investment even if it means stealing outright from the public. FGUA's reps are outright horrible and their board is as useless as they are in providing honesty and fair business practices. And the Lee County Utilities company LCEC does charge a base rate but they do not do that if you are not receiving service so Donna Lizotte is fabricating her own lie to justify her lack of moral and ethical conscience.

Synopsis:
Fgua "purchased" the water monopolies (Lindrick and Aloha that we know of). Their first bill to our computer store was for 16000 gallons of water (we don't drink that much coffee).
Numerous calls and weeks later we get a call from a representative of FGUA that stated there were numerous billing issues in their office and after apologizing for the overage in our consumption/billing he assured me that they would take the next three bills (half a year in the future) and from that would average the bill we overpaid for and then allocate the overage to the bill following the next three bills (we're billed every two months and typically it's 12-15 dollars). I suggested he take our last 6 months bills and average them instead (seems more logical, yet perhaps less profitable for the profiteer monopoly).
In any event, FGUA's claim is that the prior company did not keep proper records (we offered ours, simple right?).
In short, this is nothing more than a numbers game and here's how it's played: XCorporation overbills millions of people KNOWING FULL AND WELL that only a percentage of them will notice or if they notice even fewer will have time to address the phone tag buffer. So that translates in millions to allocate toward the few thousand they might have to pay when drawn to court.
Needless to say, we prefer real patriotism here and capitalism never really sat right with me anyway (ESPECIALLY since the monopoly board holds so few players) so if anybody else out there is interested please contact us by stopping by or calling. We will be sending flyers out to our neighbors in the immediate community here hoping that there's a provable pattern (and I think there just might be) of overbilling.

Sorry...I forgot all about this post.
BIG CORRECTION TO MY FORMER POST:
Yes, we eliminated the water company (but their bill lingers on...even though we get no service and no product).
Hmmm...at least with the "mafia" we got something in return for our money~!
Hello folks,
I'm pleased (and proud) to inform you that we canceled our water ! In July of 2010 we decided to obtain water from another source (much cleaner and less or no additives, preservatives, poisons, toxins, conditioners, ad nauseaum and infinitum). We call this new source of water, God's place ";-) No more bill from that water monopoly wwwooooo wwooooo...
Well here it is going on one year and not only did I eliminate a profiteering bill from my life but went on to find a way to live life with less bills (would you believe electricity is also by God?). We have been accustomed to receiving 400-500 $ electric bills for our computer store...would you believe we're not down to the 80 dollar bills for electricity now? yesssirreeeee (and a liberating experience in doing so I might add). Now, my goal is to eliminate the electric monopoly entirely (because I believe I can).
People wake up! Think outside that box and so-called "education" you received as an impressionable child and pull yourselves from those couches and chairs (usually planted in front of an indoctrination medium called a tele"vision")!
When I die, I'll be leaving behind something worth more than money (and have you seen what these corporate sponsored "elected" entities have spent this dollar into lately? Something to the tune of 19trillion in debt we are! Not a good entity to invest in right now because they're obviously not using our money to build better things for us but boy are they ever building better jails, prisons, courts, federal offices, etc.). The dollar is worth like 1/3 the euro now? Not too long ago before we began getting looted I went to the Netherlands and our dollar was 3/1 !
Think people, you might have to adjust your lifestyle but "let thine own cisterns water thee"
Peace.

Wow...to think this all started more than 5 or so years ago when this post was first made...and to find out that the quai-governmental ripoff is still going strong. Boy do I ever feel sorry for the citizenry there. Well it ought to piss you all off to know that I after one of those florida storms that caused the ceiling and roof to fall in ...I left florida altogether. I now have a house with a well, solar panels, big batteries, wind generator, septic for the sewer, chickens, garden, incredible firewood stove, and much more. There is one bill I've not been able to wing (yet)...it's the internet bill.
Trading freedom and life for convenience and trend is not a good trade-off, in my opinion. The plutocracy has surely become as the bible refers to her (a [censor]...and like a capitalist, she sells...revelations 17&18). So what's the answer? Well we can't all get lucky enough to obtain our own homestead with some semblance of freedom...our troops can't liberate us as they are conveniently displaced...hmmm...where's those blasted oathkeepers when you need them anyway? Well, I surely mean it when I say I sympathize with you trapped people (and wish there was some truth to the statement that "it'll all get better soon"...but...I can't.
FGUA is guilty of corporate theft. My bill for 25 years has been $55 to $85 depending on usage. (Family here for Holiday, pressure washing, etc) Last month I was billed for 13, 000 gallons and told I must have a leak. A leak where? Plumber called and there are no leaks. No faucets left on, no toilets running (they are new) no water theft. The new meters are defective! 13, 000 would fill a swimming pool. I leak that size I would notice. THIEVES! The water is way overpriced to start with. Then to pull this crap is over the limit!
I moved to Pasco 7 months ago and my water bill averages $175-$200/mo. This is up from $55/month when I lived in Pinellas county. I inquired to our Congressman Bilirakis and he referred my to the Florida Public Service Commission. When I contacted them, they informed me that FGUA is a GOVERNMENT ENTITY and as such is not regulated by the Florida Public Service Commission. So it's our own government that's gouging us! Clearly there's something wrong with this picture. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
I moved 5 miles away 2 months ago, same zip code. I am retired, live by myself and am on a fixed budget. My water bill has doubled since moving from Pasco Water to FGUA company. I have called FGUA several times and have been told that their rates are higher than Pasco water. No kidding! I tried to get them to explain why their rates were so high and all I heard were excuses. I do believe FGUA needs a thorough audit of their business practices. Does anybody know the name of FGUA's CEO? According to their employees, they have a board. I want to know what kind of salary, perks and benefits their board members and CEO receive. I cannot believe that their infrastructure updates cost more than their competitors. But, that is what they told me. I was also told that I do not have any other water/sewer company options. It's time that this monopoly is exposed!
I am in agreement with the other folks comments that this water company is corrupt with over billing and threats regarding unpaid bills. What can be done to institute a thorough investigation of FGUA billing practices (for both water usage and sewer). At my former property in Pensacola my water bill was 30 a month and now it is 100 a month. We are retired and now living in Lehigh Acres. We have no sprinkler system and rarely water our plants . It is time for action--how can this be done?

They are ripping people off. I also went to the BBB. Guess what, nothings been done about this companys over charging !
FGUA water bills are ridiculous. I was out of state for three weeks with no one in my home and my bill was higher than the previous month when I was home. Fguas response is that someone probably 'stole' my water! There are no leaks in my home. Calls to them give u no answers other than yours bill is your bill and pay it! According to 8 on your side news, Pasco Utilities is undergoing a massive audit and big problems have been found. What will it take to have an audit done on FGUA. I'm sure the same problems of overfilling will be found.
Someone with more money than me needs to start a class suit against fgua. They are charging sewer charges for the water that is used to fill thousands of swimming pools. This is a gross misuse of power of the monopoly. WE are being charged for a service we are not using. This is government fraud at it's best.
I live in a very small place in Fruitland park Florida, My place is a one bedroom, 14 x 36 home, my average bill was @ 64.00 a month . It went up to 95.00 a month when I activated my sprinkler system 3 months which is expected which is way too much compared to other water companies . My bill last month was 777.65 . The water company sent someone out to read my meter and they said I had no leaks. They sent the meter out for testing and the clerk told me they are never bad. Im not sure who to complain too or where to go with this. There is not way that I used 54000 gallons of water. I am single and live alone. I have friends that have huge homes and their water bill is less then what my regular bill used to be with a sprinkler system. I have no leaks . My place is small . Need advice. This company is the worst that I have dealt with. All they want is the money !
I have a Mobile home that I use as a shop. Nobody lives there. There is no water usage and my bill was about $50 every month. I called to find out why my bill was so Hi and the customer service would say that is basic charge. Asked for supervisor twice and never revived a call back. I travel a lot and stopped paying bill. Now they have disconnected the water, but still keep charging me $20 basic fee and late fee. Spoke to supervisor today she tells me there is no way that I can stop the service. Even if I do not want the water I have to pay minimum $20 every month for their pipes and meter because I own the place. I said I don't want it, remove the meter. The answer was no. You have to pay minimum service fee regardless. That just does not make sense to me. Can somebody give me some guideline.
