I arranged a move with Margarita/Margarite (she goes by both) for Thurs April 8th in the afternoon at a charge of $850/2000lbs. She told me my estimate along with a 7% fuel charge, and 5% credit card charge. On 4/6/2010, after 5pm, she spontaneously told me my move would have to be rescheduled for the next day, 4/7/2010 for 10am, or else I would need to cancel. We made an agreement that in exchange for my flexibility I would have the packing of my diploma (labor/materials) as well as any additional materials (boxes/tape) provided by the moving company since I would not have time to do this myself as a result of the unexpected last minute change of date. I had fully packed and fully taped all my boxes already, "cross-wise" like had been suggested. Everything was ready for the movers. I was also told there would be no charge for my stairs since they could go through inside stairs rather than front stairs. The movers arrived. I had been mislead into thinking Fast Move had a Van Line, this was a budget rent a van and 2 guys, un-uniformed. They practiced asking me to sign things that they later filled in with additional unauthorized charges, misleading me into thinking that the only additional charges would be for extra weight. I explicitly asked if anything they were going to be doing in loading my stuff was incurring additional charges, they explicitly told me no, you are all packed. They used extra tape when they did not need to but I had been told this would be covered as per my phone conversation with Margarita. They did not use the stairs but raised the truck to the front balcony and threw things into the van. I then was told by Sally of Fast Moves on 4/8/2010 that the agreement i had with Margarita did not stand. I was also given appx. $574 in "additional services, labor, materials and stairs" which she would not explain to me. I have read many complaints on movescam.com about them and they should be put out of business!

Do NOT use Fast Move Van Lines of Newark, CA. Upon first contact they seem friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to do anything to meet your needs. The reality is they will under quote the job and repack your boxes using their extremely overpriced supplies. After reading all the reviews on the internet it appears that the main reason for repacking your boxes is so they know which boxes to fail to deliver. We were missing several boxes, the ones containing our most expensive items. I also paid a $1000 fee for a quaranteed delivery date. When they missed the date they total me to read the fine print, which you don’t receive until after you’ve paid at least 50% of the overall cost and they’ve got your items in their truck. Do yourself a BIG favor and read all the reviews on the internet.
