Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com The man who works at Direct General

I went in to pay my insurance bill. The Man who works there swiped my card 4 times. The bill was 208.00. He swiped it for 208.00, 208.00, 208.00 and 184.00. Cleared out my account. When I caught it I got nothing but delay delay. I am in the 3rd day and still no refund. It could be 7 to 10 days. Meanwhile I have to wait. This is unacceptable.

Desired outcome: I want a full refund today

My customer experience with agent rachel dinkins was horrible. She is an rude and unprofessional employee who doesn't know how to respond or represent her clients in honorable type of way.. As well as helping to make sure that her clients are satisfied with her overall customer experience with them. But i'll say this I don't ever want her to work another claim on my behalf again because I called her this morning regarding my car being ready after repairs and I informed her of the situation and she didn't even want to work it out so that I could turn in my rental car and put of my car before I went to work later today. She didn't even mention anything about them taking all my money out my checking account wednesday after I got paid from my job

Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com refund

Direct General drafts my account on the 4th of every month. I cancelled my insurance on the 3rd. On the 4th my account was drafted for the premium. I went to the local office on the 4th and they said that the cancellation was pending. Why, I don't know. On the 9th of the month I called Customer Service to inquire about my refund and was told that it would take 7-30 days, but if I wanted it refunded to my Debit Card I could get the refund in 7-10 days, but I had to go to the local office to request the refund be credited to my Debit Card. I think this is totally rediculous to go through these steps to get a refund. I am writing this review to let others know NOT to expect a refund in a timely manner. I will not refer any of my friends to Direct for insurance.

I am yet expecting a refund requested July, 2018 for payments made to our local office in Cartersville, GA. They seem to not care for Sr. citizens discomfort with their Senior phone ticking off all their minutes after being transferred from office to office. I've since called every month since, even calling our local office to get insurance info faxed to their Headquarters. It seems no one knows their job so where do they get these confusion causing agents from or who supposedly trained them. I only want what's due me for premiums paid for a car I didn't have and they know the Auto Dealer who had my car for auction.

The agent has called my phone numerous times being rude to me. She withheld information and for a long time, would not tell me why she was calling. She has accused me of hitting someone when the guy in fact hit me in an attempt to do insurance fraud. Her attitude was rude when I got on the phone with her and she was giving us smart remarks and attitude if we wanted answers or had questions to what we were being interrogated about. She made threats to us and she was just overall being rude, unprofessional, and ghetto. She also slandered my name and accused me of causing the accident which is terms for a lawsuit against her and the company

Date of incident 1/3/2018

I called the local office to get an auto quote on my vehicle and I was unable to do so because the agent that answered the phone was very rude and would not listen to anything I had to say. I was placed on hold about 30 minutes the first time I called in. The second time that I called to see if I should call back at a later time I was immediately placed on hold before I could say anything. The last time that I called in I had to start talking before the agent (Jody) asked me to hold to see how long the wait time would be. She started to yell at me and say "I have a customer please hold." She immediately clicked over once again. You cannot ask someone to hold and not wait for a response from the customer. I too am in customer service so I know that the service that I received from the agent was completely unacceptable. If there is a customer in the store and you are too busy to take a call then ask for the customer on the phone call back number or just don't answer at all if you have to be rude. This is my final step before I contact the BBB. I am very disappointed with the customer service I received.

1st. Contact your local city small claims office, to file a small claims suit to get the ball rolling.
2nd. Let them know, we the people are no longer taking their crap. All insurance companies: Delay, Denie and Defend, it’s their golden rule. Bottom line until we the people stand up and speak up, hold them accountable, Direct General will continue to do what they do best. Bleed us out of our money that lawfully ours on our claims.
3. Once you file the simple start forward small claims complaint, pay the small fees, serve it upon them. Good thing is, the major big shot lawyers that defend them are not allowed in small claims court. That's right, it’s you against them and a fair Judge that is there to listen to what you have to say.
4. Make sure the court clerk’s office have your correct contact information:
cell number, home or business address. Once you file your claim in small claims court, make sure you ask for a court date. Claim # 5989951- date of claim 1/5/17. Appraiser Mark Wilson seen the outside of the damage of the sunroof but did not inspect the interior for water damages. Spoke repeatedly to adjuster Clarice Clark regarding the issue of the vehicle repaired. Spoke on 11/22/17 to Mr. Wilson regarding him going to appraisal the vehicle at the dealership. He stated that "he lost the claim in the storm "and the other excuse he gave was that " the company was upgrading the system "and could not tell me when he could come and reappraise the vehicle. My car have been at the Fields Cadillac dealership for a month and half and no one has contacted or came seen the vehicle. This is not exceptable very poor customer service with Direct. I spoke on today 12/14/17, spoke to customer service rep Brian and he connected to Ms. Clark supervisor Melissa Jones, I left message .

I have been with the company about 8 yrs, never filed a claim, this yr I have damages from wind and flying debris to my vehicle due to hurrican force winds, I submit a claim, agent from the beginning looking for reasons not to pay my claim, I have a 20 yr old who uses my address as mailing address. direct is requesting I fabricate proof said child is not living in my home, the agent that called me today, was also very rude a Michelle hicks, she stated she was going to email me a list of acceptable proofs she would like me to fabricate or she is going to deny my claim as she said it, do you want your car fixed.. I have paid you for 8 yrs to protect my property.. do what I pay you for. I am not just going to accept you taking my money and not doing what I pay youfor..

my name is Particia Randle I live in texas and I was affected financially by Hurricane Harvey in August 24-31 of this year I called to make a 1/2 payment on my auto insurance and was told that it didn't matter because if it wasn't paid in full it will still cancel so with that being said i paid the other half off my payment today Stept.20, 2017 and i was told that it would take 7-10 days before i get coverage for my car this is insane and on the 27 is my renewal i will be looking for another insurance company with a little heart because i think it's in human to do what this company does Direct Auto is not a good auto company at all so i will be taking my business somewhere else

I m so LIVID right now. I paid my auto insurance policy up front and specifically declined roadside assistance. The amount of my policy showed one thing before I was charged but I was charged for the extra feature any way. I also encountered a very rude customer service rep when I was trying to rectify the issue. The last straw that broke the camel's back is that my policy was cancelled after I sent some requested documents in as I was told to by a rep. I will DEFINITELY be contacting the BBB. This ordeal has put an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I will NEVER refer any else to Direct.

I have already made a complaint with this company. I have called every number given by the company, & have yet to get a call back. This company is a straight up joke! I will nvr give them another dime of my money. The last manager I talked to just laughed & made a mockery of my money missing. I've sent screenshots & all yet I am just making this all up they say. I will nvr deal with this again, I can tell you that! I'm waiting to hear from the bbb on the complaint I made against this company as well. Why is it so hard to get my money back?! I was charged an off-the-wall amount to begin with, after paying my bill. Scam! Worst company ever. I hope you go out of business. It's clear in the pics that two completely different amounts came out on the same date! [censor]!

Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com took payment of $109.27 + $88.27 out of my account without permission.

I paid my payment online as I have every month for the last year and a half, but time you took the amount of $109.27 as my payment was supposed to be, but then turned around and took $88.27 just because you wanted to. I went to the local office and she could not do anything for me but give me the helpdesk number so I called them and got nothing but the runaround and then put on hold for no one to ever return. I even sent Shameka Brooks a screenshot of the payments taken out from your company yet she still tried to cover it up with excuses. I then called the headquarters after googling the number online and have yet to get a callback from the supervisor there. I just want my amount of $88.27 put back in my account ASAP so I can drop you as my insurance and never deal with you again. I don't know why you are trying to give me the runaround because I have the evidence of you stealing money from my account. I will take further action if needed But first I am giving you the chance to correct your wrongdoing. I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED NOW!

Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com my insurance claim

I submitted a claim for my vehicle as it was in an accident. Due to the negligence of the company I waited 2 months to receive any information on my claim status not being able to get a hold of my claim agent even after dozens of phone calls. During this time my vehicle being stored at a car dealership at the time of the claim I had worked at. The dealership where the car is currently being stored said they were going to bill my insurance. (Your company) $30 daily until it was ready for repairs. Well, finally 2 months into the claim I received a check for repairs unknowingly that the dealership did not have a body shop to do the repairs. After finding this out my insurance agent told me that I am responsible for the storage fees of the vehicle even though I was informed my insurance was being billed for it. Gary Glassman. Your companys Agent. Has cost me my vehicle. As well as my livelihood as I am now homeless and incomeless due to his negligence with my claim. Causing me to become well drowned in debt. My insurance policy at the time covered $10, 000 worth of costs. The repairs of the vehicle (including my $1000 deductible) came out to roughly $6, 600. So why is the insurance company not paying the excess $2100 to have this issue resolved? I want this dealt with immediately.

was your issue ever corrected ? I am going on 1 month waiting to get paid for damages, the agents never call back. I wonder why they have voice mail mine are Melbis Solano and Michelle Hicks, both apparently were not trained on how to access voice mail

On 26th of April, direct insurance cancelled my policy for non payment. My cancellation date was the 26th which the policy shouldn't have been cancelled until midnight seeing that is still the 26th of April. My son had an accident that afternoon but I didn't find it about the accident until the next day, the 27th. I made my payment and signed a no loss statement based on the fact that I didn't know there was an accident. Later that day on the 27thi called my son because he texted me the words emergency. When I found out I called and made a claim. They are trying to say I misrepresented the no loss statement. I am not a guru or psychic. I signed the form based on my knowledge at the moment. Besides in writing, the cancellation date is the 26th which is a full 24 hours not the 25th at midnight. I have been with direct for over 5 years off and on and it's been a month of hell about getting my son's car fixed. I guess the next step is the insurance commission and arbitration. So sad that you pay so much and get treated with blatant disregard.

Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com they're negligent and incompetent.

Get other quotes from other companies before choosing Direct General. I got a quote for $128+ taxes. They sent me my monthly payments slips for $220.53. So I called and asked why did it go up.They said that when they ran my DMV report that it said I was in two auto accidents and stated someone else name on my insurance.(The other party from the accident. I stated that the person they named was the other party name.) I said yes but I wasn't at fault. They said well send us the police reports.(That was negligent on their behalf for them not to send for it) I went to one of their locations and had them fax it. I called and asked why was my payments still high. They stated I was at fault. Then they said they didn't get all of the police report. I stated facts from one of my police reports that clearly said the other party was at fault. That's when the representative said oh well it just went down to $176. I said why is it still that high. Oh you're still at fault for the other one.Since you say it wasn't your fault go to the Dmv and have them change it. I went to two different DMV's and they both said they didn't see anything when they pulled it up to call Nashville office. I called Nashville and they stated that I shows I was in two car accidents but wasn't at fault and that it had 0 points by each one. And if I was at fault that it would have 1 point by each one. I call Direct back and they say well you was at fault. It says in the report that you hit them.(If someone pulls out in the middle of the road and you're already close of course you're going to hit them.) I said well Nashville said I wasn't at fault. The polices didn't give me a ticket for them the other parties got the tickets. So that made them at fault not me. That there isn't anything in there report that says I was. Direct then said well we say that you were at fault because you hit them. So even if the state says I'm not Direct is going to make it my fault. So please be mindful of who you're doing business with. Do your homework on different auto insurance companies.

Was hit on 9/28/15 while driving down I55 at 4pm going South and was hit
by driver in back of me, driver WAJID, WAJID HUSSAIN did admit that he was at fault. That evening I went to police station, State police came filled out report and they even called the other driver again admitting to his fault Went got estimate, filled out the paperwork, sent pictures over to DIRECT. They claim if their insured does not send them paper within 30 days file is closed.. I have called repeatedly to Wajid and he claims he has talked with company or says "I thought this was settled "My claim number with Direct auto is 0024541 policy # for insured 0185928.
I read many reviews on this company and this is what the mainly do to
everyone..Companies like this should not be allowed to be in business
My claim was for $509.00 and that is what they owe me

Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com did not refund money

My 84 year old mother was contacted by this company to get a warranty on her car. my dad
{her husband} of 62 years passed away in June. The tactics to purchase this is appalling, telling her my dad would want her to have this. Trying to get the 599.00 she gave them back. They first said it was processing and in the mail and that was 2 months ago. I keep calling and usually can't get through due to "high volume of calls". Talked to a mafia sounding man a couple of times he says he will have someone call me back bit of course they never do. This is so not right and my mother is living on social security and cannot afford this.

Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com unpaid claims

As in the past I have paid out of pocket for repairs done to replace a windshield and continue to have problems with being paid as when I paid out of pocket for a rental car for the holidays because the assigned adjuster went on vacation without passing my claim to someone else, therefore I was stuck without transportation from Dec. 24, 2013 until Jan of 2014 if I had not paid while out of town. Now I have the same problem after having replace a broken windshield. I have sent everything requested of me by the adjuster Clarice Clark yet she insist I send more of the same thing unable to pay me first it was the receipts showing what I paid then more from the company that did the work they are aggravated with her and so am I

I do not understand? Any time I have a rental car during a repair from an accident, the renal car company takes care of it.
I have also had windshields replaced and the Insurance company does the approval BEFORE the work is done and they pay directly for that as well.

Beware is right! I have had this policy with them less than a year and they have changed my rates, option plans and services without my consent. I have received 3 different letters in the mail of drastic changes to my policy (Without my consent or knowledge). When I call them they seem to be lost for words. They scramble around trying to figure out why the changes were made and every single time have taken about a week to fix it. Recently, they cancelled my policy even though they were working on fixing an error they caused to the policy payments. Now they are working on reinstating my policy and all you hear is, "oops we're sorry". Really?! How many times can they mess up and not do anything at all to take ownership of their mistakes. They recently told me that I did not show proof of previous insurance (Meanwhile I was insured by them)! I am cancelling this policy and moving on. You may think your getting a lesser rate but the price you pay in the long wrong is not worth it! Be smart and go with a brand that is reputable. Don't repeat our mistakes as you've read below. We warned you! Direct where we'll do wrong by you constantly, should be their true slogan.

My mother just passed away July 31, 2014...and had not only car insurance but life insurance with DIRECT GENERAL...NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND ANY WAY NOT TO COME THROUGH ON THEIR CLAIM MY MOTHER WAS PAYING ON. THIS COMPANY IS VERY STANDOFFISH AND THEY MAKE YOU SPEAK TO PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY... HOW DO YOU HAVE SOMEONE READING MEDICAL RECORDS THAT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MEDICAL RECORDS OR PROPER KNOWLEDGE OF A SITUATION? WHAT HURTS THE MOST IS SHE WAS PAYING FOR THIS CRAP.

Direct Auto & Life Insurance / DirectGeneral.com awful communication, and screw you over

Well I definitely should have done my research before I got a policy through this awful company. I would like to share my story: I hit a deer and although my car wasn't totalled, it definitely wasn't drivable. I found a mechanic and everything went smoothly up until that point...and that's where the you know what hit the fan. My mechanic was great at communicating with me, and even told me they couldn't start work on my car because the adjuster gave them on value and the folks at the insurance gave them another...and since direct general never answer/return calls, it took a week and a half before my mechanic got the information they needed before they could start. At 29 days of me having a rental, enterprise rent a car called and said my car was due the next day. And to no surprise no one from insurance had updated me or even told me my car was due. So I called them and some jerk was like "my managers got together and agreed that since its on your policy, after tomorrow we will no longer be footing the bill", to which i replied "Ya'll obviously screwed up, and I'm paying because yall are idiots". These people are lying cheats who will do anything to keep from dealing with you. If I woulve done it over, I wouldve paid extra to have more pleasant people to deal with, and get my money's worth.

Sounds like this isn't the first time that you've paid for a policy and then continued shopping around for a cheaper rate. Hate to say this but you get what you pay for. Find a good company, and stay with them. You may pay more, but they will be there when you need them to be. What good would a 5 dollar per month policy do you if your 6 feet under before they decide to pay something? In the end a cheaper policy might cost you a lot more than you bargained for.

I have had this insurance for 5 days and canceled for cheaper policy and they wont give me a refund. I habe never heard of the crap reason they gave me for not to recieve a refund cause i have gotten one before from another insurance company. And the reason was never explained to me in the beginning when they wanted my money. I work to hard to be giving away 400.00. I will make sure no one i knows every switch to this insurance company!
