ComparisonK.com review: Mascara order that I never received

I placed an order for two tubes of mascara on April 6, 2025 which never arrived. Today is May 18, 2025.

The first thing I noticed, after paying for my order, was I was overcharged sales tax to the tune of four times what it should have been. I complained about that and was surprised when Camparisonk refunded me the sales tax amount.

I kept getting tracking emails. I wasn’t aware, when I placed my order, that the company is located in China. Do Chinese companies really pay sales tax to boroughs in Alaska? But, I digress. I thought that companies with dot com in their web addresses were located in the United States. Had I known Comparisonk was located in China I wouldn’t have placed an order with them.

My latest tracking information says that the package was sent to the “Mail Recovery Center”. When I emailed Comparisonk and told them I still hadn’t received my package they said to check with my local post office. I showed the tracking information to my post office and was told that packages that go to the Mail Recovery Center have either been severely damaged and/or the address has been defaced or is unreadable. I was told that I wouldn’t get the package. That basically the Mail Recovery Center is a black hole where packages go to die. I let Comparisonk know that and asked them to send me a replacement order. They said they’d only send me a replacement if I paid them more money. They didn’t specify how much money.

I emailed them back and said I wasn’t going to pay an unspecified amount of money to get a replacement order that I shouldn’t have to pay for in the first place. I then asked for a refund. They responded with another request for more money - again without specifying an amount. I told them I’m not giving them anymore money. Since they’re not willing to send me a replacement order I highly doubt I’ll get a refund from them.

I own a small business. I’m not making a living at it but I do good by my customers. I’ve bought back wholesale merchandise, that didn’t sell, and that I couldn’t resell, because that’s what ethical business owners do. Camparisonk is not an ethical business.

Buyer beware! I don’t recommend purchasing anything from Comparisonk!
