I would like the $827 paid to me for the labor and materials I did not received.
I purchased a home warranty from Choice. I needed to have my furnace replaced, which was part of my plan. My first call was around November 18. I had a company come out and they reported to Choice that the furnace indeed did need to be replaced but their company was booked up. The next company that Choice sent out was H&W Heating and Cooling LLC. Several red flags popped up. First, the company letterhead was H&S Heating and Cooling. Secondly, the company was not accredited by BBB. Finally, I compared their rates and they were about $200. more than Service HQ and Fahnestock Heating and Cooling companies. H&W was receiving $827 for materials and labor and my portion was $1045. Being a single senior woman I was not comfortable having that H&W completed the job. So, I asked Choice if I could just get the $827 and I would pick the company I preferred. They refuse to let me buy out the contract. Eventually, on February 18th 2022, I had to pay the full cost to get a furnace with Fahnestock Heating and Cooling. I was very satisfied with their work and the respect they showed me.
Fees charged after policy cancelled
We had started a policy with your company back in may. 2021 after getting all the info we discovered that the person we had talked to lied about certain things in the policy we decided to cancel the policy with in the first month no furture payments were made and now 9 month later we have 418.92 taken out of my checking acct yesterday and 52.36 taken out today. We assumed that the policy was closed. With no activity on the account for over 9 months I would like this money refunded
Desired outcome: we would like to have this charge refunded
Boiler replacement
We live in a remote area. Choice Warranty can never find techs to complete our repairs. The last time we had a major issue was a refrigerator that was freezing our food...we long hundreds of dollars due to the 2-month delay in getting a replacement authorized...totally unacceptable.
Our heat went out with zero-degree temperatures at night. I submitted a claim; in the meantime, I contacted our local HVAC tech to review what was wrong. Without that inspection, there was no way to determine the issue. I received authorization for the repair and had it completed on THE SAME DAY. They denied reimbursement because it was the same day...seriously?
This service might work in a city but it is totally useless if you live in a rural area. I do NOT recommend them.
Desired outcome: I want the claim reimbursed...
Refusal to fix HVAC
Choice Home Warranty refuses to fix HVAC. They sent a guy out and he stated to the company that it failed due to a power surge. I called our electric company (Coast Electric) and spoke with a Tabatha. They were extremely helpful. They looked at our meter and found there were no power surges to our home on the 4th or 5th of Feb. She also told me there were no outages to our home either.
Choice Home Warranty said we could appeal and Zaria was there to help us. Zaria isn't there to help anyone but who she works for. We did everything they asked including getting the a copy of our home inspection. Zaria called this morning, and said they are not going to fix it. Like I said there was no appeal
They just flat out refuses it. They also still haven't fixed our attic fans. One would not come on at all and the other was running nonstop so we had to use the circuit breaker to turn it on or off. We also for the attic fans had 14 no shows to get the fixed. Meaning they have wasted 14 days of ours. The attic fans have taken 7 months and we still do not know if they work. As for the HVAC I proved there was no power surges. Then all the sudden she says it could have been an internal surge.
Desired outcome: I want them to honor what we have paid for instead of giving us nonsense.
Water heater
My water heater went out about a month ago. It's a Rheem, and sometimes parts are a bit hard to find. CHW sent out a tech who said the gas valve went out... something I already figured out. The tech said he would order the parts and let me know when they came in. A week goes by and no contact. So I contact the guy and no answer. I leave messages on text as well as voicemail and no response. I contact CHW and complain, so they sent another guy.. now I paid my service fee to the first guy so I didn't pay the second one. Anyway he tells me that with the Rheem water heaters you have to replace the burner assy whenever you replace the gas valve or it won't work properly. Well CHW will only replace the gas valve.. says the other parts are "modifications".. what..!?
That's like saying that replacing your oil filter in your car when you get your oil changed isn't included.. it's extra because it's a "modification"..
Totally retarded.. so I appealed and no answer.. the tech says the extra parts will cost $180, so I pay.. because I want hot water again (remember.. I've gone a MONTH without any hot water). So the tech puts everything in and the heater works!
Yea! But wait, there's more! He contacts me and says that CHW won't pay him for his labor (he charged them $250).. sooo NOW he wants ME to pay for his labor.. to which he's going to cut me a break and only charge $150...
WTF!?.. he says that I'm responsible for the charges, but I haven't verified that yet. It just makes me mad that they aren't even paying the techs that do the work...
I'm NOT IMPRESSED...
Desired outcome: Pay the tech (George) the money you owe him..the full $250.also reimburse me for the parts I paid for.($180)
Water heater
On Monday Feb. 14, 2022 I entered a claim to have my water heater replaced being that it was leaking (claim # [protected]). I was told that a repair person would come on Friday Feb. 18. I said that was unacceptable being that I needed hot water. I was told that was the best they could do. I said I would get my own person to replace the machine and they said they would reimburse me less the $45 for the service call, which is included in my contract. On Tues. Feb 15, my water heater was replaced. I then put in a claim for the cost of the replacement and it was denied, which I appealed. A conference call was then set up to discuss the situation. On the call, I was informed that my claim was denied because the contract only covers parts not the replacement of the unit even if it is beyond repair. I then questioned how a home warranty company only covers parts and not replacement and was told that is what the contract states. I then found on the Better Business site this law suit against the company.
On October 2, 2019, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced his office filed a Consumer Fraud lawsuit against Choice Home Warranty for allegedly making false promises to consumers who purchased a home warranty policy. The lawsuit alleges Choice Home Warranty collected millions from Arizona consumers, but used contract exclusions, payment caps, and bad-faith refusals to avoid paying for repairs. That appears to be my situation and I'm sure many others.
Desired outcome: I would like the cost of the replacement.
Washing machine
This company is a night terror! Please use another company . I put a warranty on my 79 year old mothers house to help her and ultimately me with repairs. This was Mar the first of July her a/c went out called hcw for a service call no one call back for service this happen for July august . I end up purchasing a portable until to keep her cooler. Totally flustered I called to cancel the refused to cancel kept saying they would make it right that a tech would call in 24 hours well… he call made appointment for Friday I ask are you a a/c repair man said in did car a/c and could fix a/c fri came no show. Called to cancel same thing let up fix this by this time it’s almost September tech came to fix
Furance said call in spring for a/c repair . Now her washer quit working sent Sears for repair I thought great a certified tech called in to check said latch wore out caused door to vibrate wore hinges out parts would be about 500. Hcw informed him not cover because was damage of course I call to talk about got told I need to speak to claim person set up call the told me I opened door so it was damage my me not cover wait normal use is covered the yes but we don’t have that listed as repairs I am sure if parts were less they would not a bulked and paid repair Ps they were happy to cancel plan no refunds of course
Desired outcome: Save everyone from this poor service and have my mom wading machine fixed for normal use It would also be nice to get 40 month fee back and 60 copay back
Refrigerator
My refrigerator stopped working in the beginning of December I reported it to choice warranty they sent out a technician the technician reported the problem they said they could only take care of one problem at a time now it's February and my it's still not working now I'm being told that I would have to pay for parts that's not cover the parts went out do to no fault of mind I feel I'm being swindle I'm 67 years old I can't afford to continue to buy outside food and it's not healthy for me
Desired outcome: I just want my refrigerator fix or replace
Central heat and air conditioning
I had a heating issue only with my central heat and air system, the air conditioning worked fine. The tech that was dispatched said the compressor would not start and needed a new capacitor. Several minutes later he reports to me that there is a leak in the system and is not repairable. The tech sent in a report to Choice Home Warranty that the system failed due to rusted/corroded copper coils. Choice Warranty sent me an email that denied my claim but said I could appeal, which I did. The claims manager I spoke with referred only to the technician report and the company will not repair or replace because rust/corrosion was cited by the technician. I asked if I can have another AC company verify that information but said it will not change the outcome. I escalated this up higher to a Sr Claim manager, Zaria Pearson, who basically regurgitated what the lower level manager stated and confirmed refusing the claim. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she said she had none and there was no where else to appeal to or anyone else I could talk to. I was refused the corporate number or customer service. Ms. Pearson directed me to the 1-800 number on their website which she said would eventually bring me back to her desk at which point she would only deny me again. This unit was functional AC unit except for the heat and now its not repairable. I will need to pay for the full replacement out of pocket, with no recourse as Ms. Pearson said she was the only person who can make this decision, which seems very shady and unethical. I paid a good deal of money for this warranty that is essentially useless in the long run. I am unable to submit pictures as Ms. Pearson said the photos can not be given to me
Desired outcome: I understand the unit is old but it was functional. I would like the Warranty service to pay for half of the new replacement cost
I went through the same a Glenn did with the coil corrosion. My claim was denied as well. I paid good money and couldn't get what I needed but then they want to thank me for being a valued customer. I literally just canceled my warranty because at this point its useless to have them.
Dishwasher replacement
Couldn’t find replacement part so Choice Home Warranty offered $246 for dishwasher replacement. I had to purchase and pay $185 for install. Original dishwasher cost $550. They offered $246? Can’t even find a new one for under $500. I spoke to manager and was told that was all they could offer. I’m now out $650 after all costs and reimbursement. Whole point of warranty is to avoid large expenditures. American Home Shield always replaced items and didn’t leave it upon me to purchase and pay for installation. Choice Home Warranty truly disappointed me this time.
Desired outcome: I would like to be reimbursedFor new machine. Only one I could find within 75 miles and matching my black finish was $650. Very comparable to previous model. Would like full reimbursement.
Not repairing plumbing
Choice Home Warranty will not repair or replace my washing machine, wall hot water mixing valve. I was told by them that it is a hose bib. According to the plumber that came out and inspected the water leak, he said that the water valve is bad and needed replaced. After again fighting to have something fixed by Choice Home Warranty, all they said was that their technical staff research the valve and called it a hose bib. Well it’s not. Also I told Choice Home Warranty that it is wrong for them to send out a plumber and not believing how they describe what the part was, and it wasn’t a hose bib. I have had other issues with Choice on other claims. So I said you will cancel my policy and reimburse me the difference what is owed to me. I was told by the Choice Home Warranty
Person that even if I canceled and wanted my refund, they would deduct the last three claims against the refund amount. I was very mad at this time. It is illegal for them to do this. I paid for a 3 year policy and they are going to deduct the last three claims they paid from it. This is totally wrong. I canceled the policy and told them that I would be contacting the BBB and civil suit claim against Choice Home Warranty. Received and email minutes later that they canceled my policy and will not refunding me my money back. I have almost one year left on the policy.
Desired outcome: I want my refund, and file a suite against Choice Home Warranty for not holding up to the policy.
Replace water heater
I called Home Choice on Saturday 1/29 with a leaking water heater. The first tech appointment was 2/1 in the evening. They said they'd have to take photos, note the model number and report it to Home Choice who would then have to okay the purchase. Then I'd have to get the tech to come back out to install the heater. It will take another week. I'm appalled. Why is it taking so long? Why isn't Home Choice more immediately responsive?
Desired outcome: I want my water heater replaced as soon as possible. As in tomorrow.

Choice Home Warranty Contract
I have been with Choice Home Warranty a number of years and they have me satisfied with their service, That all came to a head when I called them with an electrical problem where I lost power to half my house. For three days in a row the contractor assigned to fix my problem never showed up. I was forced to hire a contractor myself to fix my electrical problem. I called on 020122 to cancel my contract with Choice Warranty. I was kicked around to different people and was hung up on. There is no way for me to terminate my contract on their website.
I want to cancel my contract.
Desired outcome: I ask that the company cancel my contract
Failed to honor contract that claims appliances that cannot be repaired will be replaced with new units of similar quality
We have owned a 14 month Choice Home warranty for 13 months. Last week we had a claim. Claim # [protected] on Policy # [protected].
To replace our in-cabinet deluxe oven with a Kenmore brand is $2400. Choice Home Warranty offered us a $327 Lowes Gift card. To keep this short, I can assure you that is not what their contract says. In fact, go online and read one.
Help
Desired outcome: Either repair our oven (which is quite acceptable) or replace it with a similar model.
Can not get off of Home Choice Warranty Contact lists
I had a 3 year contract with Home Choice Warranty until I sold the home the contract with after 2.6 years. I contacted Home Choice when I sold that home to close/cancel the contract. It has been 4 months and I am still getting emails, phone calls and text messages to "renew by expiring contract" after speaking with and emailing multiple times (6+) including two "resolution" managers to close the account. I did not request any refund of the remaining 5 months on the contract, just to close the account . As of this morning 25 Jan 2022, similar to what I was told previously, I was told, Christian, the 2nd resolution manager I spoke to regarding this ongoing communication issue, that I would be added to a do not contact list. Christian, unlike the previous resolution manager, said he would not provide me anything in writing verifying that action was taken.

Furnace fixed asap and my monthly fee returned as they are not helpful at all.
I called Choice Home warranty yesterday to file I needed my furnace looked at because we have no heat. They were dispatching for someone in Cleveland instead of someone local. They are giving me the run around and A & A Heating and Air Conditioning is not available until Monday. I even contacted Choice Warranty back and told them to Contact Bay Area Heating & Air conditioning after talking to Bay Area who said they have done work for Choice before. It is very cold in this house. I have a special needs granddaughter with a rare genetic disorder. She is cold and her hands are very cold. Choice is not working to get someone else here. This is the second time on 4 months I have had poor service from them. I waited almost 3 months for my dryer to get repaired. It is going down to 1 degree tonight. We are going to freeze.
Harassing Phone Calls
The representatives are rude and disrespectful, which I why I made the decision to not switch from American Home Shield to Choice Home Warranty. The first representative was rude after I explained to him that I needed to read over what they offered so that I could make an informed decision. He was rude and hung up on me. I called back and reported the situation to a supervisor. I received another phone call, and I politely stated that I didn't want to receive any additional calls. He asked me why I wasn't interested and hung up on me.
Although I pay more with AHS, I would never switch over to this company because the representatives are rude and disrespectful.
Desired outcome: I want the calls to cease.
Not paying contractors
I have worked with this company for 1 year, first they deducted money ny saying that calls were completed by another tech company and we had to pay them, out 9050.00 bill, they sent me a check for 219.85
Now they won't answer, because I got canceled due to high price, which was never discussed, when I asked to speak to higher up, lady said nothing can be done for 180 days. Now they owe me 12780.56
I need to get with everyone and get a lawsuit started. I'm going to contact the Governor also and see what he recommends.
Hello. We are going through the same thing with Choice. I posted a complaint at the end of last year sometime… it is Hummingbird Air Services.
We would be really interested in talking to you. We want to do the same thing and get a law suit going. We were about to start doing it ourselves . And we have decided to send invoices to all the customers with a letter explaining why they are getting it and why they have to pay. Then they can go back to Choice.
We are out of options. The voided the contract when they did not pay in 30 days.

Water Heater
My water heater stopped working. Choice Warranty had a tech come out on 01/05/2022 to look at it. The tech told me that it had ran it's course and that it would need replacing. Choice Warranty denied my claim stating that it needed repaired and that they don't cover repairs due to up keep. I filed an appeal and told them that I recently purchased the home in Oct, and that it passed inspection. I also had another tech come out to service it on Jan 3, 2022 because Choice Warranty was taking to long to find someone. The tech that came out said that unit needed repaired. They also stated that they serviced the unit in June with previous home owner, which I told Choice Warranty that the unit has had it's routine maintenance completed. Choice Warranty told me that their tech said that the unit needed flushed out. I spoke with their tech and he said that he told them that it needed replaced and that they are trying to go the cheapest route of not doing anything.
Desired outcome: Replace my water heater
I contacted choice home warranty on Nov 18,2021 I stated my furnace stop working. I called a Technician that always came to clean my furnace every year and they stated it was the board, but since the furnace was over 30yrs they recommended a new furnace. I related that to Choice they wanted to send their on tech.Two technician’s did not show,one showed they stated he did not send the paperwork to the right department, then they stated he canceled the order. I spoke with the technician he stated he sent all paperwork to the company, he recommended replacing the furnace because of the age. They stated he never sent any paperwork. Another technician was sent he stated when he called he stated the board was a problem but recommended replacing the furnace because of the age, he was told they would not repair the furnace and hung up on him. He stated they hung up on him four times so they had no intentions of doing the repairs. I received a text saying another technician would be out on January 17,2022 mind you it has been cold in Cleveland so on top of no furnace my pipes had burst so now I have another dilemma. Why did I need 4 technician’s that all said the same thing with no help from a company I have been paying for years. Who can I call to report this Company they are truly a SCAM!
Billing
This company is crooked, they took out over 8000.00 Dollard saying the units broke against we reimbursed the customer and took out of our payments. I called and said I have over 10240.00 dlars, the next day they said I'm being canceled due to my prices being ro high. I said at least pay, they said sure. Now 4 weeks later all I see on their portal all my payments are on hold, paid, but no check and pending. When I called, they said that I should talk to accounting, who never responds. I'm in maryland... let's see what happens. They should be out of business, the owner talawi, or what ever his name is, has a nice money making scheme. They are being sued in I believe Arizona.

We are in Feorgia and they owe us 15000. They terminated us because we started demanding payment. We want to get a law suit going…
