I was coned into purchasing a medical billing/coding course through CBT Direct. Then, when I tried to cancel it, the person I spoke with assured me that I needed to do this course. I stopped paying and sent the products back in April 2006. This was 3 yrs. ago, and now I am receiving legal action regarding this. The course was not what I expected, it wa...

CBT Direct Terrible service

I purchased the microsoft certification course for $1000 in Feb. On the very first day I had problems accessing CBT'S site. The next day I called their customer service to report the problem and was assisted by a tech support guy who tried to help me with my computer settings with no success.

By the third day I called customer service to cancel the course & request a refund, only to be told I had to follow the warranty guidelines, and that is to pass the course & fail the exam within 180 days to be entitled to a refund.

I wrote letters to the BBB, Attorney's general, GE Care Credit, & to CBT direct to dispute . Needless to say they were unable to resolve the dispute in my favor. I was told there was no default in CBT's training, the issue was with my computer and that I needed to contact the tech support to assist me in getting my computer system up and running to begin my studies.

I went along with their decision and contacted tech support again, talked with three different techs who had me to delete my system's software settings and download theirs, in hope of gaining access to CBT's site. to make a long story short, I was never able to access their site to take the courses I signed up for.

This company still expected me to pay for something I could not utilize. After numerous phone calls back & forth, by now the 180 day warranty was at its mark. I decided I was not going to speak any further with this company is to get an attorney, otherwise you will be stuck with this debt. And to be honest with you, there is no other way out. CBT knows this, their getting rich off the vulnerable and laughing at you.

CBT promised an easy 6 month course to become tech saavy with a A+ certification. You also get access to many many other programs. (Like who has time for that.) Within 2 weeks my mini lap top had been frozen and crashed. I called for a refund, changed my CC number but some how they still are billing me.Grand Theft. They have a very clever contract so read it all before signing. You actually are at there mercy as THEY CAN CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT FOR ANY REASON. MONEY IS AN EXCHANGE FOR SOMETHING OF VALUE, I GOT NO PROPERTY OR VALUE AND AM STILL PAYING. For a computer school they sure need an education on tech SUPPORT. This was my second attempt at this program. The first time they changed the certificate requirements and I had to start all over. Each time I attempted the test there was an error occuring. The second time I signed up I figured all the worms were gone. SHAME ON YOU TWO. Go to your local library peoples. Is literature property? This should be free! OK maybe 29.99 for the peice of paper you get.

Stay clear from CBT Direct. Their products are poor and their customer service/support is ridiculous. CBT Direct has no interest in their customers needs or goals. I highly suggest CBT Nuggets, IPExpert or InfoSec, to name a few. Don't waste your time or money with CBT Direct.

I am surrently experince a nightmare with this company...

I am so unhappy with the their product - i had issues with things not working...

Im not asking for a refund - all im asking is that they stop taking my money for the next 14 months

I have filed a complaint with the BBB - Is anyone aware of a local watch-dog that can bring some media attention to this.

Here in Canada this woul be considered Criminal activity.

If a customers are this unhappy - just cut them loose - basic Customer Service 101.

I've not heard back via any phone calls and today the replies to my email have stopped..

My next action is a FaceBook page possibly with a little ad space - maybe 500, 000, 000 readers will like to hear...

Who wants to join?

Oh how i wish i had done my research...

I am taking the A+ certification training and had no issues with it. That does not means that the complains are made up stories! Just be carefull when you purchase their products and make sure you use all these reported problems as precausion. The course containt is great for the money I paid($600, $50 a month)! I have not taken the tests yet, but I have learned a great deal of knowledge for an introductory level of IT. alimahamatali@yahoo.fr

I was also scammed by CBT. I signed up for their IT course in September 2009 with a 1 year agreement to access their online training for $1250 which included all of the IT training. I originally call them for the A+ training for $800 knowing that I would not have the time to complete all of it but the woman on the phone was so convincing that she talk me into purchasing all 5 courses. After failing both of the A+ test in which I paid an additional $320 (testing center fees) I decided to study harder and give it some time before I retest. I thought I had until September 2010 before the training expired. Lo and behold as I tried to retest this month (May2010) I am told by the testing center that the A+ test I was applying for was no longer being used as of February 2010. I called CBT and was told "unfortunately the A+ training that you purchased was no longer being used" and offered me a lifetime access to their training for $800 more. These people are very rude, very aggressive, very legalistically after you have paid your money and desperate. I would not recommend dealing with this rip off company.

The same thing happened to me this year, I was looking for online classes, they called me after taking a pretest on their site, they offered me a " Corporate " discount and even told me I could pay them monthly, unfortunately, I gave them my CC# but I was supposed to sign the Authorization and fax it back. Nonetheless, i refused to take their courses but only to be told they had already charged my CC. They have no sign documents or anything like that, I called them for a refund and was told Cust. service will call me back, it's been 2 weeks and nothing. I had called my bank and filed a dispute for unauthorized charges, now this will also take about 5-7 working days, meanwhile, this company has my money. If there's a class action suit out there please let me know, pretorianfam@comcast.net . BUYERS BEWARE!

I am writing here hoping i can be helped to paste the complaint on the internet of my own! The CBT is doing it again, and I am not going to give up until they feel the screw up on their accounts! I have signed up and used my wife's credit card as she said it was ok'ey, but later that day changed her mind and I did let them know. The representative did ask that he would like to talk in person with my wife and at least he tried to get her confirmation, but she was asleep and when awaken refused it anyway. The Customer Service Representative also called to get her to aprove the charge but without success.
The end of the story is the card was charged without my wife's consent and they are not reversing the charges! It now is two weeks since the 20 of January of 2010. I am at the end of my witts to try to get them to cooperate. Last I heard that they have sent the document by USPS to be signed by me to get the charges reversed. This alone sounds like a crooked outfit's deal, because they did not neeed consent or documents to charge the card, knowing that it is not my personal card!
Is there anyone there that will tell me how to put my case infront of others too to make sure they do not get taken also?! I am expressing a lot of sympathy for those from CBT who were trying to help my case (they after all work for that company) but without success. I am prepared to take it to extend without limits. Buyers beware!
If you are looking for course to advance your skills, do not go there! Just like cases you read above I could not access their course. I watched the test video, but than no further... and help desk could not help. I am on Mac and they said that it should be possible. But it was not. I have complained enough, and still wait for their action to reverse the charge, may be honesty in business or with educators does not always exist also?! ( stroniarz@yahoo.ca )

Okay, so to all you people who have the problems running the software, two things, 1.) download the latest version of explorer. 2.) download the latest java update. If you have signed up for one of the IT classes and can not do this, then yes, you screwed up, and made a mistake. But for everyone else try that and watch your problems disappear.

I have another problem to add. I signed up for A+ classes, when I did the man I talked to told me the package came with free updates on training for life. Well now that the A+ classes have been updated with all new information suddenly they tell me that the classes do not come with updates. I would not have bought the classes if I would have known that in the beginning. I could have saved $850 and just bought the book... Be careful

I Also have a problem with these guys. They opened a credit account in my name after i told them i DID NOT want it. Now im stuck with over 3, 000$ debt. If anyone can give me information on attorneys and whatnot that would be great, since i am clueless on what else to do to resolve this. jkguitar@comcast.net How much money would I be spending on an attorney? I am very limited with my funds.
Any other information would be helpful thanks.
