Their website says delivery in 2 to 4 weeks. They will lie to you. I ordered a garage from them 10 weeks ago, march 28, 2006, with a 10% deposit. 6 weeks later, it was installed on 5/13/2006, a day late, and without installing the 10x8 foot garage door. When i called them on friday, may 12, the day it was supposed to be delivered, and they said they were running late, i asked if that meant they would be there saturday. The reply was "i'll call you and let you know." they didn't call and since they close at 4 pm on friday and are not open weekends, i couldn't contact them. I live 4 1/2 hours away from this property. They did show up saturday but said they couldn't install the garage door because a bracket was missing. What good is a garage without the door? The installer said they might install the door monday, may 15. The garage was constructed using 14 gage frame, and i had specified over and over to both companies that i wanted 12 gage. 4 weeks later, they have yet to install the door, because they don't have anybody going up that way.

Today is june 9, 2006, and they are supposed to be up next week to resolve this. I've heard this crap before. They are supposed to call me this weekend, according to gabriel ortalaza at carports.com. This is a lie because i know carolina carports is closed on the weekends. My advice is stay away from these businesses, unless you like to wait and wait and wait and be lied to.

June 10, my neighbor in indiana calls me to inform me that my atv was stolen from the garage. The atv was double chained into 30 inches of concrete in the ground, inside the building.

June 12, 2006, gabriel ortalaza from carports.com emails me. He is very sorry my atv got stolen from the garage, but it is not his fault and that i will receive a call this week about installing the door.

Today is june19,2006, no call from carolina carports.

June 22, 2006, we are now at 12 weeks after i ordered building and after almost 6 weeks with no door on it. Brenda, from carolina carports mississippi office, calls to ask if my carport has been repaired yet. She tells me it will be done tuesday, june 27, but i must give her directions again on how to get there. I can't email it, because they have no computers there. I told her the directions.

June 27, 6:15 pm javier(i don't know his real name because he doesn't speak english very well, so i will call him javier) calls to tell me he is there to put up door. Hoooorah

June 29, i call javier to confirm the door is installed. He says yes, door is up, send check to company. The balance is to be paid when the job is finished.

July 1, 4 pm my neighbor calls and asks if i had been down to the property. He is standing inside my building and there are tire tracks in the driveway. I said it was probably the guys installing the door. He tells me the door is still lying on the floor not installed.

July 1, 4:30 pm i call javier and ask why he told me the door was installed if it wasn't. He said he had no generator that day and the road was closed. Liar liar. If he didn't have a generator, why did he show up at all? The original contract stated they would need one. They need one to put the building up. It is now 7 weeks since the building was put up and it still has no 10x8 foot door.

WE TOO BOUGHT FROM CAROLINA CARPORTS. BIG, BIG MISTAKE. SO FAR THE BUILDING LOOKS OKAY, , BUT THE DOORS DON'T WORK RIGHT. WE ARE OLD PEOPLE AND IT IS ALL MY HUSBAND CAN DO CLOSE AND LOCK THE DOORS. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO THAT. WHEN WE DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM, I STOPPED PAYMENT ON MY CHECK. I TOLD THEM I WOULD PAY WHEN THE DOORS WERE REPAIRED. THEY CAME BACK, AND TOLD MY HUSBAND HE WOULD HAVE TO SPREAD HIS FEET 4 TO 5 FEET APART TO GET THE DOORS TO LOCK.. THE LATCH DOES NOT LINE UP AS IT SHOULD. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO LOCK THESE DOORS AS IS. I HAVEN'T GIVEN THEM ANOTHER CHECK YET. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. I WISH I HAD READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS FIRST. I WAS TOLD THEY WERE IN GOOD STANDING, THE BEST, AT BBB. NEVER BELIEVE ANYONE, CHECK FOR YOURSELF.

My Carolina Carport Inc. (CCI) purchase was a positive experience for a top quality product backed with great customer service. My CCI building is the showcase of my neighborhood in looks and quality. The (CCI) team was first class, friendly, organized and very helpful to ensure my building was scheduled and completed to my satisfaction, they are very accommodating. The CCI team helped me with any permitting questions and coached me through the inspection process to ensure everything passed. I researched carports for months to find CCI carports are top quality, promote excellent value, and provide the best customer experience to ensure you are completely satisfied with your purchase.
I also wanted to share that CCI has many brokers offering their products and in some cases the broker may not return calls etc… please do not let this be a reflection of the CCI customer service, they returned calls ASAP.

Same experience. Waited from 10/2014 - 03/2015. Constant phone calls and promises of delivery on their part. They've got it down to a science. Finally cancelled my order for non-performance and have been waiting for a month for my refund - several calls and more promises. Check's in the mail. My problem is that they deducted 70% from my checking acct for my down payment instead of 10%. Since they promised that I'd have the carport in 4-6 weeks I foolishly told them to keep it and I would have less of a balance to pay after installation. Spoke with a couple of honest people toward the end of all this who told me that most employees are not even there over the winter months and that independent contractors do their installs - they don't have emplyees who do that. If I don't see the check in the next few days it's time to file a consumer complaint with the NC Atty Genl's Office. After that it's time to file a civil suit and take them to a jury trial where I will be going for the refund, damages for my aggravation and atty's fees. As long as I've spent this much time and aggravation, I'll see it through to the end. A little extra effort and a trip to NC is no big deal. You'd think after using over a thousand dollars of my money interest free for 6 months they'd be ready to send it back but I guess it takes all kinds.

  • Although my complaint may not seem as bad as the preceeding complaints, I feel after reading these prior reviews that I must express my experience with this company as well.

During January of 2014, I went to a local private Carolina Carport dealer. My very first experience was that of poor customer service, nonchalant, "it is what it is" personality. I did place the order with this dealer and waited, as instructed, for a call for installation. It should be noted that I was told at the initial order that they were out of the color to put a door on the end of this building and that I would have to give them a few weeks to get that color and order the door separately. I was quoted a "$300.00" price at that time for the door and installation. When the call did not come within the time frame promised, I called the company number that was given to me by the dealer. (The dealer had been very specific at the time of the order and down payment of 10% that it was "out of my hands" after the order was placed.) When the call was answered, I explained my order and was basically told "oh yeah", as if they had forgotten to call me. They then told me that someone would be returning my call. I waited a few more days and did get the call wanting to schedule installation.

On the day of installation, I must say, the guys installing were expeditious, polite and appeared to install a quality building. When completely installed, I inquired again about the door. The installers told me again that they were out of the material in the color that I needed and that I would have to call them back at a later date. He also confirmed the $300.00 price tag.

I waited over 9 months and called the company again in November of 2014. I spoke with "Haley". She stated that she would handle my order and call me back. She also confirmed the $300.00 price tag. I waited for over a week for Haley's return call and never got it. I called the company back and was able to get Haley on the phone. She stated that she had my order on her desk on the "to do list" and would call me back. I waited another week and got no return call. On November 18, 2014, I called again and when I asked for Haley, I was told that she was with another customer and would call me back. NO CALL AGAIN!!!

On December 30, 2014 I called back AGAIN...and AGAIN, asked for Haley. The lady I was speaking with stammered, not really commenting whether Haley was available or not and I then reiterated this entire sequence of events. After my book full of events were dispelled on this lady, she stated, "well sir, Haley doesn't even handle orders such as this...you need to be speaking with our ordering department". OK, WELL CAN I SPEAK WITH THEM! I was then transferred to Javier. Well, fun, fun, fun. I repeated this whole library of books of events to Javier. His immediate response was "sir, we don't ever run out of colors...you must have been told wrong". I replied, "well, let's get this order going since you obviously have the color of the door that I need". He hammered around in the background for a while saying that he was still trying to look me up. After a while he said he found the order and again, asked what size building I had. I figured he should know that since he had just confirmed that he'd found my original order but told him anyway. His response was then that one door for this building was over $700.00. I argued this as I'd been told numerous times that the price was $300.00. He went into a whole litany of reasons why the one door was over $700.00 for a building that cost just over $1000.00 total. After all of this, I decided at that moment that enough is enough. All I can say is WOW!

To sum this up, it will be a cold day in Hadez before I EVER call this company for anything again. The customer service from the private dealer to the reps over the phone is outrageously out of step (to say it lightly) and not at all practicing kindness, satisfaction or "please come back to see us" mentality. I've lived over 49 years of my life practicing the principle of "treat people the way you want to be treated...especially those who help pay your bills". I expect nothing for free and always expect to pay for service rendered. A business is built on reputation of good service, honesty and ethical treatment of others. I'm not sure how this company has grown to it's current size, other than maybe they started with the right principle and lost their way at some point. To Carolina Carports, I say this, "keep up the good work and see just how long you stay in business".

We too have had nothing but lies and disappointment from Carolina Car ports. We purchased a carport the first of August. They said it would take 2-6 weeks to deliver. It is now Dec., four months later and still no carport. They have scheduled delivery 3 times and didn't show up. They have our money and have refused to give us a refund but still no delivery. Spoke to a lawyer, he said to speak to a supervisor, explain the situation and tell them that if they do not make the scheduled appointment and install the carport today or issue us a full refund, we will file suit. I called them, told them what my lawyer said and they assured me someone would show up today to install the carport. Waiting to see what happens. I would never buy from this company again and would not recommend them to anyone!

I am so aggravated! We place an order in September with the same 10% down. And have been patient with waiting...Now after several calls and 10 weeks later, was lied to two weeks ago they stated that we were in the Que for next week. LIE last week called to find out when...Lied to and said that they are really backed up due to WEATHER! (really... what weather? "rain") Was told Friday 11.21.14 that she "the lady that deals with the scheduling" that she would call me back by 4:30 Friday...LIE, because that call never came!
I am sick and tired of their BULL____! I have tried to find a manager/owner to file a real complaint with. but can not seem to find anything!!!
Wish I new a better place to do business with, because these people do not know the first thing about running a good company, let alone any costumer service!!!

I ordered and placed 10% deposit for 18x22 carport from independent dealer. Was told 4-6wks for delivery. Company rescheduled delivery date 4 times and showed up on a Saturday October 18th 2014. Company did not have all support beams, short one for set up. Today is 22 Nov 14, have not heard from Company since 18 October. My wife took two days of work off for previous delivery dates that were rescheduled on short notices. Company is not open on Saturdays, yet they have there service technicians on the road. Recommend not doing business, I am canceling my order and hope to get my deposit back, we shall see how that works out.

I ordered a carport from a local dealer who was selling for carolina carports. I paid a deposit and was told it would take 4-6 weeks, it even states that on the back of the contract. After 7 weeks the dealer calls them to find out where my carport is. Their response, it take 6-8 weeks and someone would be calling me in a week. No one called. after 9 weeks Amanda for the georgia area called to set up an appointment for the following Tuesday. She then calls back to cancel saying their truck broke down, the next week it was because of weather on the 12th week a death in family 13th week they were within 30 miles of my house at 10 p.m. and turned around and went back to N.C. because one of the crew had to be in court. this week, week #14 on Monday I was told that I was on the schedule, my carport was on the truck, couldn't leave because of weather again and someone would be calling me. I called back this morning Nov. 20th 2014 and was told they didn't know when I would get my carport because they didn't have a truck coming to Georgia. The dealer is a good friend of mine and said he would give me back my deposit tomorrow if I come by his store. Carolina carports do night but lie, don't do business with them. I waited 14 weeks and still don't have a carport. Going to just have one built, what I should have done to begin with.

On May 9, 2014 I ordered and paid a down payment on large carport building. They promised to install in a few weeks. After several months and complaints to the BBB, they have finally installed it. But, I yet to receive the 'free' weather blocker sides, for which I paid $49 for shipping.

October 7, 2014 Finally had our RV cover installed! Ordered it on July 25th!! The ONLY good thing about Carolina Carports were the installers. They are subs and they did a wonderful job!! I filed a complaint against Carolina Carports with the BBB and have not had a reply from anyone at Carolina Carports. I will forever tell everyone to NOT BUY from Carolina Carports. Another thing to be aware of when buying a structure and they have you pull your own permit. WE WERE NEVER TOLD THAT ONCE WE RECEIVED THE DRAWINGS AND WENT TO GET THE PERMIT WE WERE TOLD THAT IF WE DIDN'T HAVE A PROPERTY SURVEY WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS WE HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE DONE!!! ANOTHER $250-$500 FOR A SURVEY!!! I FEEL THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING WHEN WE WERE PAYING THE 10% DOWN AND ORDERING THE RV COVER. BETTER FENCE, WHO IS THE VENDOR IN OUR TOWN FOR CAROLINA CARPORTS SHOULD HAVE TOLD US THAT UP FRONT. I FELT TOTALLY DUPED AND BETRAYED BY THEM FOR NOT TELLING US THAT WE WOULD NEED ANOTHER SURVEY IF OURS WAS OVER FIVE YEARS OLD. BEWARE!!

Ordered through carports.com. (Georgia) Got a phone call from rep saying they would install Monday morning approx 8:30 am. By 10 am, no sign or word of them. Called local rep after many phone transfers and dead ends, she says the guy's "truck broke down, can't be there till Thursday". Why Thursday? How does he know his truck will be ok on Thursday? Sounds flaky to me. In this economy, you'd think someone would want to have a job on Monday morning?? We cancelled the order. Luckily only a $50 deposit lost.

I just went through apparently typical "sales" scenario with "Carolina Carports' through Fairway Buildings in Gastonia, NC. I placed my order, with my 10% deposit on the 8th of December 2012. By the 10th we got a call from them telling us it would be two weeks before the buildings parts were cut and that, due to the Christmas holiday, the first install date we could get was January 3rd. Instead of an install we got a call from them telling us the "Truck broke down" and the install would occur on January the 8th. On Monday the 7th we got a call to tell us the install couldn't be done on the 8th due to rain and that the install would then occur a week later on the 15th. On the 15th we got a call telling us again that the install would have to take place on Friday the 18th due to weather. When talking to the customer (Service?) rep, Cristy, the weather showed it would be a nice sunny day so she set the install for Friday the 18th mid afternoon. Well Friday mid afternoon came and went and when I called they were closed. I called them on Monday the 21st (today) and they told me they didn't know anything so I asked if she could make a couple of calls and call me back. She said Ok so I asked when she would call me back, knowing phone calls only take a couple of minutes. She told me "tomorrow". I asked her to call me back within the hour, she didn't call for over two hours and only after I spoke to their sales person here in Gastonia at Fairway Buildings. She then offered to get me set up for an install on this coming Friday the 25th which I was not willing to do since their install dates don't seem to mean much to them. I asked for a refund from Fairway Buildings who told me that I would not get a refund since I was given a "Build Date"? I figured better to lose $69.00 than to continue with a company that had that little respect for their customers. I was a bit torn over whether I'd made the right decision until I found this site and a couple of others that made me feel a lot better about our decision not to do business with either CCI or Fairway Buildings. Can't believe they wouldn't refund our deposit since every problem was of their doing. Good riddance.

I called Carports.com and I had some guy on the line in Boone, NC who did not seem very friendly and he treated me as a potential hassle, and he kept asking me if I'm gonna place an order today and he kept pushing me to pay a deposit, and after i told him that I need time to make measurements and to place a custom order next month, he told me that it was nice talking to me and hung up, which is ok, but, I felt being rushed all the time, as if something bad is gonna happen if I went ahead and did business with them, so I did not even bother to do business with them, and then... I've read BBB reports and a couple complaints websites and I am glad I did! I will take my time to find the best and the most reputable company before I spend my money or I will DIY!

I am being screwed by them too.. They took my $601 deposit and told me 2-4 weeks. I never got an email or receipt of any kind. When I called about the 4 week deadline- I was told they are behind and will not come for another 3-4 weeks.. Since I will not be around- I asked him to cancel it and refund me because I will be away those months.. The rep agreed and promised me he would refund me and email me the receipt this time. A week later No Refund and No email.. so I call back and get a NASTY Lady who told me the person who does refunds is so busy and can not talk to me now, and I have to leave a message..
So I left the message and immediately called my credit card company to setup a charge-back... I guess we will see if this works out..

Oct. 29, 2012 I to was told 4-6 weeks when I ordered my carport on Sept. 5 2012. They outsorced to Dream carport in Orem Utah and I was once told delivery would be 10/16. A week later I called and they told me Tuesday 10/23. That morning we waited till 9am and when I called they said the merchandise was still in the yard in Orem Utah 6 hours from my house. I asked to speek to the head manager and never got a call back. I then called Car ports.com and they told me someone from Dreams carports would call for a set up date but after 3 hours I still never got a call. When I called back they then said my carport would come on November 1. I called Carports.com back and they said "
"I guess we can't make you happy so I will refund your 10% deposit it will take about 3 days". I wouldn't buy a car port from these people if they were the last outfit on earth. Tomorrow I will call them because as of 7 days later I still don't have refund in my account. A very unhappy customer in Cortez, Colorado

They have done me the same as all of the above, I have missed 3 days work over carolina carports lies. They where suppose to be here yesterday and now today. If and when they show up to install my carport I'm going to let them install it and tell them to get the hell off my property without paying them and see how they like being done that way. 3 days work for me is $420.00 so lets see how they like it.

Oh my god! I wish I had looked at this complaint board before I placed my order! We should all sue them & I have never in my life done that! They pulled this same crap on me! It is a scam and I don't know how in the heck they are still in business!!! When I placed my order I was supposed to be contacted in 2-4 weeks with a scheduling date! Well when that didn't happen, I emailed and a Greg emailed me back (very shady how they don't even use last names, all professional, legit companies representatives have full names on their emails.) He told me they were running behind in my area and it would be 3-5 weeks before I was contacted. Of course I was not! So I emailed back and after over 6 weeks now he gives me a 1-800 number and tells me to ask for GA scheduling. Which I do (and have to wait on hold awhile.) I then talked with a Sarah, who transferred me to a Michelle, who transferred me back to Sarah, she said that she did not have my order. I told her I wanted a refund and she said she would contact Greg and call me back. She called me back but stated that when she tried to contact them all the representatives were busy! In the meantime she had magically found my order on email! WOW! I explained to her what a scam this was and she got rude and told me that she couldn't refund my deposit and I would have to contact the representative! I know they were the representative because I heard in the background another woman answering the phone carports.com. I take it to mean that they are all the same scamming company, carports.com and carport.com. I know it is just a deposit but I want my money back!

if there was a way to keep crooks like carolina carports from going into business I would certainly stand up and support it all the way- our freedom of enterprise gives crooks like them the opportunity they need to be able to go into business, advertise and reel in unsuspecting consumers- and then who is left holding the bag??!! it is NOT the company - we as consumers have recourse thru our courts system- but by the time we pay to get it into the court system- it costs more to try to make them pay than we have already been out already!! So where is the justice in this?? businesses (and I use that term loosely) like carolina carports are crooked in anybody's language- IF anybody figures out how to put them out of business please let us all know- I for one will support the movement 110%- I am getting so tired of having to fight to get what I have already monetarily paid for- maybe we can start a boycott on facebook- it has wide readership

Agree with all the complaints I read against Carolina Carports (CCI) the entire company is staffed by irresponsible, liars that would make the Federal Government employees look like Bo Peep in comparison- in fact the government could take lessons on lying from CCI

The Carolina Carports located in Dobson, NC is the one I am having trouble with. Came a day late (said truck broke down), the next day came and did half of the installation, took my check for $1450.00 and said they had forgotton some of the molding pieces that go around the window, under roof and down corner sides, and that they would return the next day. In my opinion, What a load of crap. They did not return the next day, and when I called the office in Dobson all I got was a huge run around with promises of checking into the matter, calling me back by days end, etc. I cann't get an confirmation from them on when they will return. Meanwhile, I have horse hay that needs to be stored and I have no where to store it because they will not come back and finish the job! Valerie is the name of the woman that handles Virginia accounts and she has a horrible and unprofessional attitude making it very obvious that customer service is at the bottom of their priority list. I just want my building finished. I really want to stop payment on the check, not sure I can do that and not suffer repercussions? I say everyone should stay far, far, away from these people, you will surely have problems.

We bought our carport from Carolina Carports Inc., and today was our installation day. My husband took the morning off from work (they were already short staffed so this put an added burden on his employer) since we were told they would be there before noon. I called yesterday and asked what was the earliest time we might expect them and was told daybreak, so we both got up in plenty of time just in case we were the first install of the day. They did not get there early and were not there by noon either. My husband called the company here where we made the initial purchase, (not Carolina Carports Inc) and they called CCI to find out where they were. They were told that due to the rain last night they were running late but they would be here today. I checked with my husband around 3:30PM and still no carport installers. I called CCI myself and was told they would still be here today. The woman I talked to was basically rude and did not offer an apology when I complained about my husband missing a full day of work. They should have called us this morning to tell us about the delay. They finally arrived at 5:30PM! When they finished at almost 8:30, we were missing 2 anchors, which they say will be installed when the next available crew comes back to this area, which could mean weeks. My husband did say they did a good job installing the carport and he enjoyed talking to them (when they spoke English). We agree with a previous poster that said the parent company should be as good as the installers! I'm betting we won't ever get our 2 missing anchors!

Which company do you finally go with? They all seem to be worthless. We ordered a carport to cover our RV at the lake. The company we placed an order with was T-N-T Carports. The company said they would deliver in 6 weeks. The only time my husband could meet them was a Saturday. Our property is 2 hours south of our home. My husband's company was offering overtime, which he has never passes up, but did so he could get his carport. My husband was at our lake property by 9 am since they were meeting him there "mid morning". I called him several time during the morning to see if they were there...nope! At noon someone knocked on our front door. It was a hispanic, young man, who could not speak english. He pointed to my husband's name on the work order and said, "Dat you?" I responded, "It's my husband." He said, "Buiding here?" I said, "No, building here." Pointing to the directions to our property, the next line under our address. Then I said, "Two hours south of here." He seemed astonished. Went back to his pickup, got a map. I showed him where he needed to be. He then went to his pickup to get his GPS unit...this is where I had him. I am employed by Garmin International. I got my Garmin and entered the coordinates in his unit from my unit. Then he was on his way. Keep in mind it was noon on a Saturday. Finally, at 5 pm a spanish speaking woman called and wanted our address because their battery died in the GPS. Ha!! Not if they had a vehicle power cable. Anyway, we never got our building that weekend. Last weekend we were on vacation, k driving to Lake Michigan, which this company knew, and they called us to tell us they could deliver the building on Saturday. My husband reminded them we were on vacation and would not be available. They called back this week to let us know they could deliver in about 3 weeks and since there has been so many problems they would refund our deposit. He thought about it and called them back today and told them to send it back. He also told them they were the worst company he has ever delt with, ever!! Someone suggested Carolina Carports. Now I read this. So I ask you...who in the world do we hire to do this simple job?

I was lucky to avoid carports.com before giving them any money. Long story short - I requested a quote from several internet metal carport dealers on June 8, 2011. I received quotes from all but carports.com within 1-2 days...the carports.com rep. sent me a sales pitch and a link to their website. Couple of days later, I get an email from the rep., no quote, just fluff. I replied that I would like that quote. He replies, no quote, needs more information (which seemed irrelevant). I send him the additional information and his reply...need more information. I finally told him that I don't need his quote as I have obtained quotes from several competitors to which his response is...as for competitors, we have none. He flaunts his prices and service and wishes me good luck. Note...still never got a quote so he did not back up his price claim, and as for service, well the run-around I got speaks for itself.

We need to be careful here. There is Carports. com and Carolina Carports. com. Two different companies. Let's not lump them together.
Most of these are old but let me tell you they have not learned anything (Carolina Car Ports). No customer service, no customer interest after they get your order and money. I scheduled a date and took a day of vacation, they did not show. The next day I had plans and they were at my gate at daybreak. I had to cancel my plans. I had called on the scheduled day and the home office told me they would be there that day. Not! Wasted a day of vacation and messed up my plans the next day. Two days screwed thanks to them. You would have thought they could have called to let me know what was going on but, no, they don't care about the customer only getting their order and money.

On a side note, the installation crew was excellent, professional, and skilled. They worked so well together it was a treat to watch them work. If only the parent company were half as good.

With all these complaints dating back to 2006, why then are so many people going to this company. I believe the complaints are valid, but with all the imformation at our finger tips, why won't people do there homework online fist. come on people, don't give this company any more of you're hard earned money. I betcha they hire illegals too. Be carfull folks. Brett, Jacksonville Florida.
