Capital Taxi (Edmonton) Driver and Upper Management

On New Year's Eve (Dec 31, 2015), a cab driver from this company was 30 minutes late to pick us up, claiming every time we called him that he would be there in "2 minutes" or "5 minutes". He told us that he hit every light coming from downtown at 4:00 in the morning, hence why it took him over 45 minutes to get to near West Edmonton Mall. We still had to pay for this cab ride, which had caused us to miss our flight (we then had to pay $300 to get on the next flight). If he would have just told us from the beginning that he would not make it by the time we had booked the cab for, we could have woken up the other person in the house so that we didn't miss our flight. We have now been dealing with the manager, John Hollis, for nearly 3 months now, who not only does not return our calls regularly (he has said he will call us back in an hour, or a day and then rarely ever calls back - it is always us following up again). He has "guaranteed" that we will deal with someone from higher up in order to be compensated. It's been almost three months! He has blatantly ignored our calls when he sees our called ID, because we have called from different numbers that are answered right away. It's been over a week now and he has not returned any call (we call everyday) and we are expecting not only a refund on the cab ride, but we also want to be compensated for the fees we had to pay for missing our flight - which is directly the fault of the cab driver who repeatedly lied to us.

Capital Taxi (Edmonton) Vehicles not maintained, rude

Twice in the last three months I have called for a taxi to take me to the airport and had a Capital Taxi arrive. Both times, I missed the flight due to flat tires. The first time I was stuck on the side of the freeway for 45 minutes in the snow. The cab driver did not have the sense to pull the car completely off the road. Since I am a Transportation Engineer, I tried to explain the danger, to him, me, and the general public, of having the car sitting in the travel lane of a freeway. After being ignored I told him that if he didn't remove the car from the roadway I would call the police. He finally moved it over.

The second time I noticed the flat tire before I even opened the door of the cab. After calling another company to send out a cab, I called Capital to complain that their lack of maintenance was costing me hundreds of dollars and that their level of service was unacceptable. The dispatch said I was accusing them of doing this on purpose and I explained what I was accusing them of was not maintaining their vehicles. Frustrated and late I hung up on them. They had the nerve to use caller ID to call me back to try to get the last word in.

I will not get in another Capital Taxi.

I took capital taxi everyday.
I don;t know why half of taxi drivers use different ways to push me to pay them cash instead of credit card.
Sometimes they say their credit machine is broken.
And half of the time, they say their credit card machine is broken

Capital Taxi (Edmonton) Rudeness

I called a cab the other night. The driver was extremely rude. As I got out of the cab I dropped my wallet on the seat. I realized this instantly and tried to flag him back. I called Capital taxi to ask them to send the cab back. I offered to pay for him to come back. They refused. They said that there was nothing they could do for me and to call lost and found in the morning. Then they hung up on me. I tried calling again and they refused to help me at all. They hung up on me a second time. I called the police and they said they would do their best to help. I called lost and found the next morning and was told that they wouldn't bring a wallet in to lost and found. If they found one it would be taken to a police station but they wouldn't know which one or have any record of them doing this. I couldn't believe the was I was being treated. The cab driver stole my wallet. I know without a doubt that he did. What kind of customer service is that? This is not the first time I have had problems with this company. And I know of other people that have had problems as well. I would definitely not recommend using them unless you want to be treated rudely and be taken advantage of.

I took a Captial cab from the Ranch on Saturday night the 26, my friend and I hopped in an orange cab.

We got in asked where I was going, I told him my address, he quickly asked for a deposit saying that too get my to location it would be about $30. I have taken a cab back plenty of times, and know its not a $30 cab ride. I told him that I would give him a $20 deposit but that was it.
As we approached the first light, he asked if we wanted to hear a vulgar joke, not wanting to offend we said yes. It created a very uncomfortable atmosphere afterwards, he then continued with what felt like an interrogation. About how old we were, what we did for work or if we were students, he asked what institution we went too, when I told him that we were in HR, He quickly responded that we should help him get a job because he's from India and has been here for 20 some years. Not only were we uncomfortable about the questions we were being asked but we also felt very unsafe. He would not slow down for red lights when approaching, he didn't listen to his GSP on how to go my location, he was swerving around other vehicles, calling other cabby's names and overall didn't seem concerned with the rules of the road.
I have never been felt so uncomfortable or unsafe in a cab in my life. I will not be taking a Capital taxi again because of this experience.

My brother is a local bartender and this sort of behaviour is quite common with the taxi cabs in Edmonton. He is no fan of drunks, dealing with many of the same issues the taxi drivers do...but he doesn't feel the need to rob the drunks. This is anecdotal evidence, but the plural of anecdote is data.

I've never personally ridden in a Capital Taxi (or ever had issue as a customer of any taxi company), but I did see Taxi #404 from capital taxi driving wildly, and then flipped off a girl who was going the speed limit. If I ever do need a taxi, it won't be from this company. Seems they don't have good recruitment or accountability.

Unfortunately every company in the taxi industry has a few bad apples. What matters is how the office deals with such complaints. Dispatch should have made the driver return immediately to your drop off point. For many reasons - one which is trust and honesty of that driver. Plus, if he hadn't noticed the wallet was in his taxi and his dispatch didn't contact him to tell him, he could pick up another customer who could have just as easily stole the wallet.

Secondly, if dispatch questioned the driver and he did have the wallet, it should have been returned to lost and found at the office. If there was concern over doing this then the driver should have taken it to the nearest police station and a report made to the office so they could give this information to the customer.

Poor management of a company is a cause for concern for the customer and for the drivers alike. To have the number one taxi company in Edmonton customer service should be the number one priority.
