Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) food veg for the patient

Dear Sir,

This is to bring your kind notice that my father Biman Mukherjee is admitted in CMRI with brain stroke on 4th July'19.
He is not getting non veg food which as per the hospital authority conveyed that the non veg food for the patients discontinued from 1st July'19.

The patient might get non veg food for lunch/dinner.

This is very surprising and astonishing as we the patient party is incurring a huge amount every single day but the hospital is not taking care of the well being of the patient.

This is not at all expected from such a group company like CK Birla.

Request to take necessary action asap otherwiese I will escalate the matter to the higher level and the social media.

cc:Managing Director(CK Birla)

Yours Faithfully

Hi Team,

I haven't yet received any update from you. I was expecting an update that you all are currently looking into this serious matter and will get back me later.

I also wanted to bring to your notice that after several follow with the doctor to understand the diagnose/root cause of why my daughter was getting high fever. But, since 23rd I was informed by the Dr. Ruchi Golash that she is unable to identify the root cause. The same version shared to me by the doctor Ruchi during the discharge. Please refer the attached discharged summary.

As we are not sure of the root cause of High Fever and are not pro-activity taking any actions to prevent of any upcoming issues if any.

I hope and pray to God that she will be all right.

I look forward for updates and hope taking required actions.

Dear Team,

I would like to bring to your notice, the experience I had gone through during my daughter was admitted at hospital. I had also updated all the incidents to duty manager and to person from grievances at CMRI. The head of security in charge of CMRI is also aware of all below incident.

• Admission: During the process of Admission, after all documentation check, I was asked to summit minimum 30 thousand. However, I had to shout and finally had to call insurance company manager. Insurance company had to call to TPA who were requesting for deposit and finally got admitted without any deposited money.

• From the Day one, whenever we were looking a nursing services, we pushed the Bell and every time someone cleaning staff would visit and stop the Bell ring. Then, we were told that they would call for a nurse who will be able to help us.
Due to this, each time, the nurse comes to attend after 30-40 minutes. I had requested nursing in-charge the incident.

• 23rd Saturday: Nurse had given the antibiotic at 3:00 PM and went away but medicine was not going through the channel. Typically, I had pushed the Bill and in the same way the cleaning staff had come and had switched off the Bell. Similarly, I was told that they will inform the nurse.
This continued till 6:30 and my daughter waited for the antibiotic since 3 PM. Then, I had to shout like anything on the 7th Floor and see security guard, few nurse, junior doctors attended my daughter. My daughter had missed the antibiotic which she had to take at 3PM.

• Channel: Within 20 hrs., they have done THREE (3) time channels. During the stay my daughter had 5-6-times channel.

• Dr. Ruchi Golash: During the stay and even post discharge, the doctor had maintained 8-10 distance from my daughter. This experienced was shared with administration and nursing staff on 23rd. I was promised that it will be taken care and administration team will update management accordingly.
However, on 25th I had again raised this issue to the same person and surprisingly got replied from that same person that he only looks after junior doctors.

• 25th Monday: Nurse had given the antibiotic at 6:00 PM and told us that my daughter will again provide antibiotic at 10 PM to maintain 4 hrs gap. Then went away but medicine was not going through the channel. Typically, I had pushed the Bill and in the same way the other cleaning staff came and had switched off the Bell. Similarly, I was told that they will inform the nurse. Nurse has also visited few times and could do anything.

This continued till 9:30 PM. Then, I had to shouted on the 7th Floor and head security guard came and he had called the Duty Manager. The duty manager Mr. Sharma came with one of the senior doctors. However, Mr. Sharma came with same senior doctor who had attended my daughter at around 7:20 PM but couldn't help. She told that new channel needs to be done.

Moreover, the same statement was provided by senior doctor at 9:40 PM in front of the duty manager post re-check the issue.

I again update Mr. Sharma that for more than three days that I had a small request to each of the nurse / junior doctors that to try replacing the channel pipe set and try once. I also had requested this senior doctor to replace the set at 7:20 PM, but she too told that it is not issue with the pipe set. The channel needs to be replaced. Finally, Mr Sharma requested to try to replace the pipe set and check once.

Post replacement of the pipe set, all were set and nurse started the pending antibiotic at 9:50 PM which was pending since 6 PM. After that another TWO set of antibiotics were given using SAME channel.

If they could have changed the pipe set on the day ONE of the incident, my daughter wouldn't had to go through New CHANNELS for such numbers of times.

Finally, the miserable part is, after all above repeated incidents, the system as well the service wasn't improved.

25th Monday @ 10 PM: Nurse has started another set of antibiotics immediately after the completion of antibiotic which was started @ 9:50 PM. During my stay the same antibiotics were given in minimum 4 hrs gaps.

I AM WRITING TO YOU TO INFORM YOU ALL THAT IF MY DAUGHTER ENCOUNTER WITH ANY ISSUE DUE TO THIS UNWANTED INCIDENTS, I WILL BE BOUND TO FIR A CASE AGAINST THE HOSPITAL.

Look for forward to see updates on each incident.

Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) dr sandeep bhattacharya

He is the most horrible doctor i have ever seen in my life. First of all his behaviour with the patients and their family is ridiculous. He has made my mother who has Ckd and multi organ problem to roam around the hospital daily for doing a perm cath. He holds a grudge on us as we didnt listen to his advice and went on to see other doctors for their advice as well. He was unhappy with the fact that we didnt listen to his advice. I would like to request the higher authority to take some steps against him. My mother's name is Shila Paul. He has made my mother's condition more sickening. He even influenced the otger doctors to not to treat my mother. If this is the condition of your hospital then i will never like to come back over here.

Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) doctor's punctuality

I took appointment for Dr. Gourav Gupta in speciality clinic on 28/09/2018. I booked his appointment 2 days prior his consultation date that is 26/09/2018 but on 27/09/2018 I got a call from Calcutta Medical Research Institute stating that they have cancelled my booking because the doctor is taking leave. I then booked another appointment for 01/10/2018 for the same doctor. This time I came at 06:00hrs on 01/10/2018 for the billing. The reception was supposed to be open at 08:00hrs but it got open at 08:10hrs. And then I got the appointment at 10:00hrs, but now it's 11:16hrs but the doctor is still not here. The patient is not comfortable at all to sit here and wait. But because of the doctor and negligence of the hospital we have to wait. Please look into the matter otherwise some incident would occur in the hospital. Thank you.

Doctor Biswarup lahir has given me appointment in speciality clinic of CMRI kolkata. My serial number was 15 and I was waiting outside with my 1 year old child. From 1:30 pm till 3pm he had attended 12 patients serially and I was hopeful that my number will come in next 30 minutes. My child was restless because baby feeding bottles become empty by then but somehow I was comforting him because my number was very near but to my surprise he stopped calling after serial 12 and started meeting paitient party of in paitient cases. From 3pm till 4 pm I was paitiently waiting for restart of serial 13 onwards but the que of in paitient party party was endless and my 1 year child was totally hungry. Then I requested receptionist to tell the doctor to attend myself as my child is feeling hungry but It was a disgusting reply from doctor that either wait or take the refund. He has totally wasted my 4 hrs and he is telling to take refund. Such doctor is nothing but a curse to society. This complain is to make people aware of such insensitivity from a private doctor who is take Rs 800 as consultancy services and still behaving like this.

Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) doctor manocha's extreme rude behavior

My mom is admitted to the hospital due to severe headche. The general medicine doctor suggested Dr Manocha (neurologist) to attend her. The doctor was very rude while he came and spoke to my mom. Just as his visit was over, I her daughter entered the hospital premises and through the land phn kept in the help desk I called up the doctor and requested to know regarding my mom's condition. The doctor was very very rude and just because it was a Sunday he didn't want to speak to me. Does that mean he will not even charge for attending my mom on a sunday? The case is not so. But it was high negligence on his part that he did not speak to me. I want a serious action to be taken against Dr Manocha

Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) inpatient services

CMRI is a well known hospital in Kolkata and i expected a better service but the nursing department is too bad. They keep the patient go on waiting even after the bell rung for more than 25 minutes and above. I feel there should be a single attender for every bed or the patient is not going to get the utmost care required. I got admitted in serious condition but my treatment started only after 3 hours. Is that why i came to hospital for treatment? Several times my saline got over and i kept ringing the bell but nurse came only after 30 mins. Then what's the point of bell? One attender should be given to each patient but there is no such rule. Is it a hospital or prison? Discharge process takes more than a day for them.. literally pissed off with such services. I hope this makes some noise in the ears of the Cmri management to improve their services.

Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) overcharging & inflated estimates to swindle insured patients

CMRI is an absolutely bania hospital aimed at squeezing maximum money out of patients. My mother requires gallstone removal and they quoted 81, 000/- while our neighbor got the same done few days back for 55, 000/-. They asked for higher rate just because we had a huge health insurance policy and they sensed an opportunity to swindle the insurance company. TPAs should kick such hospitals out of their network. It is for good reasons that people run to the south India for treatment, banias have not taken over the healthcare there yet.

Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) mis treatment

PLEASE READ THIS . This is a very honest Statement I want to share to all :

My father was admitted to CMRI hospital in Kolkata . He was suffering from Sickle cell Anemia and had gone very weak .
The hospital on the day of admission took full care and showed hospitality . But would happen after that we could have never thought .The hospital has shown its reality that it is running a business and are only interested in taking up new patient and sucking money out of them. In this world where doctors are treated equally to God and the profession which they are into should be done with compassion and care is a mere business now. Even Butchers show more compassion when killing an animal.

INSIDE THE ICU : (HOW PATIENTS ARE TRETATED)
1. First time, I saw in ICU of a hospital that people are allowed to enter in slippers without any mask, aprons etc. They are allowed to make noises and rush through. Can anyone imagine this scenario where a patient was kept in ventilator.
2. The Nurses used to pinch my father’s body hard to give the oral medicine when he was sleeping. And to the level he got so scared that anyone who touched his body he would open his mouth unconsciously.
3. His hands were tied to sides of bed . This was done to person who was weak to even lift his hand. And tied so hard that blood clotted on the places it was tied.
4. Since he was put on ventilator, He could not speak and did only gestures to explain his needs. The nurses are taught to be ruthless here as they only replied “Shut Up. I Can’t understand what you are trying to say” . Hardly did anyone to take any effort to understand the needs of the person. We could understand his gestures when visiting but the nurses could not.
5. Blankets were mercilessly dumped upon him when he asked for extra one as he felt cold.
6. The blankets were tucked in so hard that he didn’t even have a centimeter to move .
7. The moment he died immediately all clothes were pulled off his body saying that it is hospitals property.

So, there was no care and compassion in the nurses and they were just completing their duty hours anyhow . This was a general complain I got from every other patient’s relative.

ABOUT THE WAY OF TREATMENT
1. My father was being attended by a Hematologist who after observing him once, went sick and was admitted to hospital himself. For one week there was no other doctor in his place and hospital took no responsibility to bring any temporary doctors. We kept running everywhere but not a single action was taken. This was the treatment to a patient who was critical.
2. On day 2, my father had internal bleeding which was not even noticed and medicine was administered after 5 hours of continuous blood loss. & This was only done when my mother noticed the blood on bed sheet in the visiting hours. The shift nurses said that she had reported but Doctor (Anirban Chatterjee) didn’t take any action.
3. He continuously administered high dosage of antibiotics that there were big blisters all over body but he did not notice even one. He didn’t even cared to see any reactions on body. Anyone can tell that strong dosage cannot be given to a weak body except the doctor.
4. In ICU, is it not imperative that doctors themselves are supposed to update the relatives about the status . After waiting in hospital for 12 hrs, continuously for 4 days, We could meet doctor (Anirban Chatterjee) after chasing down . Even without seeing the reports he told that progress was not good (More or less like shooing off) . He came on his will and wish to hospital and sometimes did not also. There were so many patients waiting for him but he did not pay heed.
5. He was also under a Gastroenterologist ( Anirban Chatterjee) who from the day of admission told that please don’t keep hope . Isn’t it the moral responsibility of doctors to say some kind words at least to patient and relatives to keep up the spirits. I believe half the magic happens when doctor’s keep the patients motivated with encouraging words.

It is a request to all that, please visit the hospital prior to admitting a patient, Look at the facilities and do a bit of research on the treatment because there are leeches everywhere who want to suck money. My complain is more against the way of treatment rather than the treatment. I lost my Father and he had to die a very painful death . He had walked in the hospital but came out in death bed in a week. I really regret coming to this Hospital It was our bad that he went so weak after bringing here that he was not in a condition to be shifted to other hospital. (Also, within a week 3 other patient in the ICU lost their lives. And Hospital ensured that they sucked maximum possible money by putting maximum equipment’s before he dies )and Please if you love your near and dear ones I will not advise anyone to come to this hospital. This hospital is just another crematorium where money is sucked and people lose their lives. I’ve been to government hospitals but this is way far worse hospital that I’ve ever seen. The ICU where they charged 7000/- per day for the bed is equal to a general ward in a government hospital.
It is a request for the administration to get a reality check of hospital.

I want make complaint against Calcutta Medical College Rsearch center. The doctors in the reception and the head doctor they are not worth to become a doctor. I went to Chittranjan Hospital where Digital Xray was done and I had to pay for it which was very reasonable. After the report doctor informed that my Grand Mother has broken his right leg and the treatment could not be done here as the operation machine is not into operation from last 7 to 8 months and they asked me to take her to PG or Medical. Accordingly I took her to Medical and the doctor took more than half an hour to research on report and finally Doctor Kunal youngster and the other doctor who refused to give his name and said that If Ortheopadic Doctor give him permission then he will admit my Grand Mother however earlier he refused to admit later when I went to confirmed his name he refused. The medical hospital is for the people who could not afford going to Nursing Home but the sad part is without source we could not do anything. I had to wait hours and hours without solution. So what's the point for us to visit. The patient will die. We had to run up and down without any help. There is no system. U want you take action against the same. Please call me on [protected]

Kolkata

Dear Sir,

Sub: Summary Bill on a/c of Prostrate Operation

Ref: PANA No: 71319
Patient Name: Mr. Sahadev Bhattacharya
Bed No: 609
Patient Type: Corporate Patient
TPA: FHPL

Please refer to the subject noted above; please find the point wise details of the operation had at your hospital.

a) Mr. Sahadev Bhattacharya, hereinafter called patient, was checked by Dr. B. R. Kundu on 17th Feb’09 and was suggested for prostrate operation with urgent recommendation.

b) I, Mr. Ayan Bhattacharya, son of Mr. Sahadev Bhattacharya, hereinafter called patient party, have checked your PRO Office and Welfare Desk for the package information of the operation and it was categorically told that total estimated package is Rs 74, 000/- (Rupees Seventy Four Thousand). Based on the same patient party has taken a approval of Rs 50, 000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) from FHPL.

c) Operation was done on 24th Feb’09 and patient party has checked the Summary Bill with self interest on 27th Feb’09 and bill amount was Rs 1, 20, 000/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty Thousand) which is an abnormal amount and your officials even did not inform us about the severity.

d) Patient Party has requested all along for the marginal discount since this amount is out of our expectation and we are not in a position to pay the same. All though your officials has provided us a discount total bill is still Rs 1, 22, 000/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty two Thousand) as on 28th Feb’09.

e) You would also appreciate that for a prostrate operation the lumpsum charged to patient party is not fare and unjustified.

f) The patient party has also expressed their wish to meet you personally at your desk which was rejected by your officials w/o any valid reason.

Under such circumstances we do not even know how to escalate any issue which is affecting the healthy relation ship and we are proceeding with letter for your submission.

Based on the above mentioned point we, the patient party would request you to look into the matter. I, a member of Areva T&D India Ltd who is having corporate relationship with CMRI and Birla Groups, extend a sincere request to you to reduce the Bill burden to enable us to take further medical expenses at CMRI.

Looking forward for your support and patient party personally want to meet you for the subject matter.

Request you to propose us a solution to live a better life under the medical supervision of your organization.

On 4th April, 2023 Dr. Akash Dutta and Dr. Shiladitya Mahapatra, assisting Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee (too old now, less reflex) behaved extremely insensible with me. Hospital authority must look into it as we patients are no guinea pigs.
