I called to book a service appointment because the clasp for the front passenger side seat belt is defective. I stressed that I wanted this repaired as soon as possible because it is a safety issue. I also asked that the recall work for the passenger air bag be done at the same time because I had been told several times before that they did not have the parts for this.
Even though I stressed the urgency of having the seat belt locking device fixed, I was not able to get an appointment until one week later. The service department employee stressed that this was to ensure that all the parts would be available.
I dropped my vehicle off at 9 am today. They called me at approximately 11:15 to inform me that the warranty work had been done and that I needed the part(s) to fix the seat belt. I asked why they didn't order the part at the same time as the other parts. I was told that they do not do diagnostic work over the phone. I was also told that it would cost me $182 for the part plus about 1/2 hour labour at $100+ per hour.
THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I did not schedule a diagnostic appointment. I told them what I wanted fixed. Maybe I should have waited until someone got hurt so that a safety recall could be issued on all 2011 Jeep Patriots. I could then have had it repaired for free.
I am very upset with the lack of concern for my passengers safety, the waste of my time, and the ridiculous amount of money that this will cost me for a part that probably costs Mopar about $40.
