Buy Buy Baby review: Gift card complaint

My husband and I entered the deerfield location in Mason, Ohio on May 13th to use a gift card we recieved as a baby shower gift late from a family member who didn't make it to the shower. It was for $50 and we were told at checkout that the deadline to use the gift card was may 8th. I explained to the cashier that we had just gotten the gift card a few days prior and had no idea there was an expiration on when we could use it. She said "it is on our website". I replied that I don't check the website. My issues is that I recieve text messages with deals from not only bed bath and beyond but also buy buy baby and if this was a stipulation why would we also not receive a text stating this? I recieve messages about everything else so why not this? I would have come in and used my gift card sooner other wise and we only missed it by 5 days. To me, this is stealing. My long distant relative paid money in the form of a gift card... the money is spent and now your company is essentially stealing by not allowing me to use it. This is inappropriate. I could see holfing gift cards sales past a certain date but not accepting them is outrageous Publicizing it more that you would no longer be taking them other than just putting it on the website would have also been better. I seek reimbursement for that $50 so I can buy my baby some clothes from her relative. I have called multiple times and have only recieved a callback with a generic message to call back and I have left messages with no response. I would like to get this matter resolved please.
