On January 15, 2026, I was charged $683.62 for six months of insurance. I authorized a one-time payment of the premium because I wanted to get a bill for the next premium to see if my good driving habits were paying off. The next day, the site advised me that I needed to e-sign some documents in order to get my ID card so I could register my car. After that, I was just waiting to get the declarations page in the mail.
I got a letter dated March 2 that claimed my policy had been cancelled. "Unacceptable risk. Applicant signature not received." So naturally, I assumed that I would just have to sign up for new insurance and I would get a refund for the unused premium.
Come March 24, I get a credit card bill that reflected a $1,847.50 charge on the card. When I called customer service they claimed that they had mailed me a packet to prove that I had Medicaid insurance. I never received that packet in the mail. They tried to claim that they had sent it several times, but alas, no packet from the company ever came. They said that since I didn't mail the packet back, they automatically signed me up for the highest personal injury protection which of course costs the most. It was not made clear to me at the time of purchase that I would have to provide that information nor that I should be expecting a packet in the mail that contained important documents.
I also never authorized automatic payments for my insurance on that credit card. I also never authorized the $1,847.50 charge. Customer service claimed that my policy was still active even though in both my online presence and in physical documentation existed a document that said my policy was cancelled.
This is by far the worst bait and switch I have ever seen. They have also committed a violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act though unauthorized charges to the credit card. It is also a violation of truth in advertising statutes. I hope they are ready for a lawsuit that will award millions.
Save yourself the time and agony of dealing with these shysters. They deserve every bit of justice that is coming.
