Paying for food & red wine at the self service checkout a member of staff approached took the red wine from my 14 year old son stated he was not allowed to put the wine through the scanner as he wasn't 18! I questioned this as he was with me his father. The female staff member walked off spoke to a female manager who then approached me in a very rude and intimidating manner. I asked the Manager to stop getting in my face this was very awkward and embarrassing for myself son and girlfriend. I asked several times to stop alas she wasn't prepared to. We asked to speak to the general manager who accused me of being aggressive a presumption based on the female staff as he wasn't there. He was rude didn't want me in the store even escorting us to the door. We as a family have shopped in Booths for decades. No more custom will be given to any Booths ever. We nipped to Sainsbury's in St.Annes to clarify if my son could put the wine through the self service & the answer was yes as long as he wasn't paying for it. Very sad when we support Booths as it is our favourite supermarket. For any management to speak to loyal customers in this way in inexcusable.
My girlfriend asked the general manager to look at the cctv to see the aggressive stance taken by the female Manager he was definitely not interested.
